Sound of pilfering more like. But I can't help but love this album. This is an album unafraid to wear it's influences on it's sleeves. And what big Byronesque sleeves they must be given the sheer number of artists/bands who obviously provided the inspiration for the songs on Sound Of Silver. Anyone else appreciate Sound Of Silver or does the blatant thievery offend/annoy?

I like it a lot. One of my favorite albums of the year so far. Stand out track for me is Someone Great.

That's my second favorite just behind All My Friends.

I also love "Someone Great." The one, two, three, four, five hit up with the first five tracks are fantastic.

Does anyone hear a lot of "The Robots" by Kraftwerk when they listen to "Get Innocuous!"? I sure do!

Great album, though.

North American Scum is the only track that doesn't do it for me. Other than that, great release considering I didn't like their first album.

Agreed. That song hits me.

It's a good album. In addition to what's been mentioned, I was thinking Bowie during some of my time listening to it.

I think I probably agree. Album didn't really hit me like I expected. Needs a little more OOMPH.

Not really my cup of tea. Its too "hipster techno" for me.:D

So what's non-hipster techno then?

I get hipster, but not techno. At times, the songs rock out.

Here's a live recording of them covering Joy Division on Later with Jools Holland:

Yeah, I was just half-joking about the "techno" remark.:D

Thought this at first, put it back on after a few months and it was much better. Not best album of the year material but still not bad.
