Hey everyone,

I was just looking for input on what websites out there are the best for inputting your DVD collection on. I was looking for a system that you can easily store all your DVD's on and it can sort them for you by category, etc. I used to use dvdaffectionado but can't get back into my collection so I'm ready to switch to a new one. Any suggestions?

dvdaficionado.com has the largest catalog from all regions. I use that as well as dvdspot.com.

I really like dvdspot.com, theres only two things that kinda suck about it though. THe image quality of the dvd pictures are pretty low and they don't have the catalog that aficionado has. But there are soooooo many things you can do with dvdspot.

- you have home page that keeps track of your lastest purchases, where you can also input an about me column and avatar.

- you can browse your collection by year, runtime, genre, dvd release, rating, purchased, last watched, ect..

- they have this great statistics page that tells you you top 15 actors, producers, directors, genres, decades, regions, sub-genre's

- you can manually look up all the films you own that has such and such actor in it, or director, ect. really cool feature, as they have nearly all the main players listed in every movie.

- as opposed to aficionado, where you can only place a dvd in one filter at a time, you can put the same film in mutilple filters. And you can have up to fifty filters. Lets say you want your Traffic Criterion in a Criterion Collection filter, well you can put it there and also in your Academy Award winning filter. Its really a cool feature.

- They automatically estimate how much your collection costs. dont let it fool you, its the MSRP price so dont expect that much money by selling them again.

- In addition to the owned, wishlist and on order tabs you can find in Aficionado, they also have a watched and on loan tab.

- you can review dvd's and read others reviews just by clicking on the dvd from your collection, instead of having to look up other collections.

- you can also find out how many other collectors own each of your dvd's

and other stuff... go now!

Sorry you can't get back into DVDAf...try contacting someone on the site and get them to help.

I use DVDAf exclusively. I like it for its simplicity. I tried DVDSpot but was less than impressed with it. The images DVDAf use are small, but still high quality because they use GIF instead of JPEG. There were some discrepancies as far as cover images that DVDSpot uses (i.e. not matching the cover images of my DVDs) that bothered me. DVDAf allows its users to easily submit corrections to titles, including artwork. Best of all, it allows you to add your own comments about your owned DVDs (like what I'm doing - listing all the extra features, the audio/video options and the release date for each DVD. Look at the # and A-F folders in my collection to see what I mean). And you can make your own folders. While there are a few issues I have with DVDAf, they will soon be in the process of implementing a new layout, which will hopefully fix these small nitpickings, and offer new features.
