Their first two albums were great but everything they've put out since then is shit. Plus, Noel's approach to music, which seems to be "hey, I've got a shitload of money, mind if I 'borrow' a few riffs?" really does bug me. Plus, Liam is a fucking ass. He seems like the kind of guy whose ass I would want to kick within minutes of meeting him.

Ok, just look at Liam in this picture and tell me you do not want to kick his scarf-wearing ass.
One thing I noticed which was interesting is that Noel's voice sounds almost the exact same as Liam's. Why do they even keep Liam?

They don't sound anything like each other. Not to these ears.
I loved Definitely Maybe and enjoyed What's The Story. After that I was only sporadically impressed by their albums. Some good songs...some average...some really fucking shameworthy. But I kinda liked their last album. Not a 100% return to early form but what do you expect? They are a very different band these days.
In addition to this I find them very entertaining. Especially Noel who is very bright and funny as fuck.

I never got into them, even when they wrote decent stuff they were overhyped beyond belief. They've always been too much of a boyband for me to take serious. Kinda dig that song "Champange Supernova" though, I like the guitars there.

They have a few songs I enjoy, but most of it doesn't grab me.

Oasis is a band I just don't get what people love about. Sort of like the Artic Monkeys or AFI. Huge amounts of people love them but I haven't a clue as to how it happens because to me they sound as good as a donkey taking a crap in an ocean of peacocks.

Well, I always thought they sounded very much alike. I didn't even notice the change in vocals when Noel sang "Don't Look Back in Anger."
Oasis has been an interesting band in my lifetime. I started listening to them when I was eight because I had a cousin who listened to them that I looked up to. Then, I kind of forgot about them for another eight years. Then, about a year ago, I started listening to them again. Well, their first two records at least, because I didn't care for anything they did after that (I haven't heard their newest record, though. Heard that was much better than their last few albums).
I like Noel a lot, and the more I think about it, he accuses himself of more plagarizing than he actually does. Come to think of it, the only riff I've ever heard deliberately borrowed was the piano riff from "Imagine" in "Don't Look Back in Anger." He's a very gifted songwriter and I think when he tries hard he makes excellent music.
I think my hatred of Liam stems from when he said something about the lead singer of INXS when he presented him an award and Liam said something like "has been's shouldn't be giving awards to gonna be's." Two weeks later, the guy killed himself. Fucking asshole.
A lot of people really do hate Oasis though. I mean, I can understand that if they've only heard Be Here Now and The Masterplan, but I don't understand how one could hate Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory.

Paul Weller actually does the guitars on that song, which would explain that because Paul Weller is the fucking man.

I always liked them as fellas...they're funny, entertaining...and I think Noel is pretty clued-up. Of course Liam swaggers round like an arse at times but it's all persona...he's been a family man for a good few years ago and you rarely hear a peep out of him. He is still good for a soundbite...but you should take a lot of what he says with a pinch of salt.
I disagree that they sound alike as well.

Your mentioning of The Masterplan brings me onto something else I respect about Oasis. The Masterplan isn't a conventional album which is probably the reason why it doesn't flow like one. It's a collection of b-sides. In the early days I loved Oasis and bought every single they put out. They were brilliant at crafting b-sides that at times outshone the a-side and would have made better album tracks than many of the songs that did make it onto Definitely Maybe and What's The Story. Ever since I discovered good music via The Jesus & Mary Chain i've had masses of respect for bands that take the time to do something interesting for b-sides (rather than just tossing the song in the direction of a few remixers). The Jesus & Mary Chain, Oasis and Pulp are three bands that did this with aplomb. And they deserve some kudos for showing their fans that degree of respect. Of course I stopped buying Oasis singles after Definitely Maybe. So I have no idea if they still put out wonderful b-sides.

oasis are a kinda guilty pleasure i dig out when i fancy a drunken singalong,i loved the first two albums like most people but after that they got a little to lazy and seemed to stop caring a little about the quality of songs they brought out.
there is still a few cracking tunes though on the later albums,"the importance of being idle","stand by me","probably all in the mind",are a couple of stands out for me.
one thing though i went to see them live a few years ago and have to say it was one of the worst concerts i have ever been to, lacking in emotion or any sort of stage presance it was as if they were playing in their garage instead of in front of 50 thousand people a massive disapointment.
