do you want us to be brutally honest or just placate you. I mean I don't know how you expect me to be impressed when you are still buying vhs no matter the price. Vhs are bulky and too hard to movie. And then I see stuff like Dragonball Z and Friends on the list mixed in with VHS an I am like blah.

be brutally honest I guess...I just posted cause I posted a sum up back in Jan...so now I figured I'd post an update...the VHS are not like collectable things or a big part of my collection...they're all flicks I had never seen and therefore was concerned about buying the the high priced diiscs...and Dragon Balll Z is what's know an indulgence...I'd loved that cartoon since I was like 10...and now i can get the whole thing on DVD so I;m gonna...and friends is just a great show IMO...so yeah...blast away if you want to...I couldn't care less if you agree with everything I buy...they're my movies...I just posted to see some opinions...my collection is growing pretty well and I'm happy with it...so I posted it...yeah

I like Battlefield Earth and Lost in Space. Try and get more guilty than Battlefield Earth.:D

Smart move though on getting your dvds together in one small location. Because most of my 600 or so dvds were actually bought after I went to college, I didnt have the luxory of cd cases. I lugged two huge bookshelves around with me to 3 different apartments.

Now see, I'd love to use bookshelves...but the dorms are just to freaking small...I'm only takeing dvd's tho, no VHS...more guilty than battlefield earth....hmmm...The Pagemaster...and if you havn't heard of it you need to check out Sidekicks on imdb...that movie is so horrendus...but I love it so...monsuire DIZZY...what pray-tell are your indulgence and guilty pleasures (as far as DVD's go that is...)?

I have a thing for cheesy 80's flicks. Flash Gordon, Howard the Duck, The Adventures in Babysitting, The Wizard, Big trouble in Little China, Don't tell Mom the Babysitter is dead (although this is 1991),

and I like questionable comic book movies almost all of them (except catwoman) Daredevil, Hulk, Ghost Rider, Fantastic Four, Elektra

and I like Ben Affleck movies god forbid, Armageddon, Paycheck, Reindeer Games, Phantoms, Dogma, Jersey Girl

Man, SirDizzy, your speaking my language. Big Trouble in Little China is one of my favorite movies, and Adventures in Babysitting is a childhood fav of mine(I havent seen your other two 80's movies). I dig all of those comic book films to, with the exception of Ghost Rider as I havent seen it yet, and "Ben Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms." I even spent the inordinate amount of money on the Criterion edition of Armageddon. You got me with Paycheck though. I liked Reindeer Games, but Paycheck just wasnt my thing.

Edit: I forgot that you listed Flash Gordon. My feelings for it echo my feelings for Big Trouble in Little China, or any other 80's Kurt Russel/John Carpenter movie.

A few words of advice from someone who did the same thing years ago.

(1) Do not get rid of the cases and make sure they are in boxes that are labeled so you don't lose them and have to buy generic black cases when you later move back to bookshelves.

(2) With the alphabetical order thing - make sure to buy extra sleeves that can be easily inserted into the 320-disc case. Then, leave them at the end of each letter (i.e. start each letter of the alphabet on a separate page). This will lead to even less reordering (and will do wonders for your sanity).

Yeah, I saved the cased and know where they are...as far as my sanity goes well...as of right now I'm struggling with trying to "break into" the movie biz and college is just around the corner and blah blah blah, but really I have nothing I can do but wait or write more scripts that can sit in a drawer until I get that magic phone call from one of my "connections"...so it's kind of nice to have a mundane task every once in a while like insterting my new copy of the Big Lebowski...I know I said i was done, but my grocery store has dvd's and my mom is always like "Do you want this? How about that? No? What about this?" As we go through the store looking for the next months groceries and after a dozen "no's" I feel as though I've saved her enough money on groceries that I deserves a dvd, hence The Big Lebowski on tuesday...so yeah, I'm clearly already insane...
