The best I've been able to find on the internet is somebody else's post asking the same thing. I would basically say the same thing they have, and they have said it better than I would have... so I'll just steal their post now:

from http://80s.tuneforums.com/thread_view.php?threadID=311

I have been searching for YEARS!!!

In the late 80's or early 90's there was a song out that was set to part of Beethoven’s 5Th (I think). It was very upbeat. There was a man in a low raspy voice giving a synopsis(sp) of the life of Beethoven. It starts out the same as this: Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, Op. 37: Allegro con brio.

It has a strong bass beat and likie I have said, someone is telling the story of Beethovens life. He is speaking with a low rasy sounding voice.

Both the original poster and I are quite certain it is NOT Falco's "Rock Me Amadeus". If any of you can help, I will gladly reply to the OP (which is from a different forum).

Are you sure it's not the disco remake by Walter Murphy?

I checked that song out... the song I am looking for definitely had narration on top of it. Think "Rock Me Amadeus" meets "Pepper" from Butthole Surfers. Thanks though! :)

I have no idea but now I really want to know.

Sounds like fun times.

It`s probably not as good as "Rock Me Amadeus".

Trans-Siberean Orchestra did a concept album called Beethoven's Last Night:

In 2000, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, under the direction of the prolific Paul O'Neill (rock producer), produced an album entitled Beethoven's Last Night that fused several of the great's works, including the Fifth, Sixth, and Ninth symphonies, and Fur Elise, with the epic energy of TSO's contemporary electric guitar-led rock. The epic narrative is a factually-influenced, but fanciful and fictional, account of the last hours of Beethoven's life.

Definitely later than the 80s/90s, but it has the low raspy narration, and sounds.... Well, it's TSO....

EDIT: Man, I don't know if this is it, simply because there is no mention of WAILING ELECTRIC GUITARS.

So, I went and listened to that entire album. It's a good album, for what it is... symphonic rock or whatever. Very Jim Steinman-y. There is narration, unfortunately that is not it. Thanks, though!

The song I am thinking of is more "poppy". Imagine the narrative voice from the Butthole Surfers' "Pepper" saying something like: "In 1802 Beethoven writes Symphony Number 4." (These are not actual lyrics, but i believe it is something similar.)

I keep thinking it's another Falco song like Vienna Calling.
Was there an extended version of that song that had the narration at the beginning?

I've gone and listened to this song and I this is not it. I am quite sure that the entire song was all narration, except for maybe a chorus. Thanks again!

Yeah, pretty much shortly after I posted that I realized that there'd be no way you wouldn't have described that for what it was --- you would have at least mentioned guitars.

I'm not sure if you are kidding about me owing you, or kidding about that being the song. Because, unfortunately, that is not the song at all. While this song may have a similar poppy beat, it definitely is about Beethoven and his life, with a narration. Thanks for the link, though, it was worth a listen!

Yeah, I was just kidding about you owing me. I listened to that song trying to find the one you were talking about and it was just awful. I wasn't sure if that was what you were looking for but since there are so few songs about Beethoven anyways I figured I'd give it a shot. Glad you liked it anyways though. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
