So they're releasing it on DVD, and they're putting a remastered version on blu-ray with the Stranglehold game. Are they releasing it standalone on blu-ray?
Also..talk about how much better this version will be

July 24, I think.
So far, I've only been able to find a cheap bargain bin version prior to this version (I always wanted the Criterion, but I'm not that rich... Maybe make me a Criterion cover for it.)
Now hopefully they'll release The Killer as well, and the rest of the Police Story films in their original versions.

Is the evil Disney releasing this? If they are won't it be "cut" as opposed to "uncut"? I have a good quality uncut R0 version. :D If they release Hard Boiled uncut I hope they also release The Killer uncut. I'm not sure if this indicates anything but The Weinstein Co. has released the original Police Story via their Dragon Dynasty label. (I'm not sure if it's what you'd call it's original version but it's available none the less.)

Mother of God...
This is fantastic news. I just bought the Criterion a few months back, so I'm kinda pissed about that, but I pray to God that this not only gets a new video transfer, (even the Criterion isn't so hot) but gets a new audio slate as well. No more of this mono shit...Hard Boiled deserves better!
Anybody know anything about this??? What are the extras that warrant a 2nd disc?
And I wouldn't get my hopes up for The Killer, seems to me this is hyped with the new Stranglehold game, and The Killer doesn't even have an English dub, correct me if I'm wrong.
Oh, and welcome to the boards.

I've yet to see this or The Killer, so I'm psyched about this.

Dolby Digital 5.1 in English is what I'm looking for...but nothing about a new video transfer? This film could definitely be cleaned up a bit...

Hard Boiled is being released through Dragon Dynasty, and supposedly their are talks of releasing The Killer sometime next year. Judging from most of their releases I've seen, they're usually the original cuts from the overseas disc, which should be the uncut version.
And yes, that's what I was referring to about Police Story. Dragon Dynasty has released the first two, and I'd like the third and fourth films (known as Supercop and Jackie Chan's First Strike here in the US) released in their original cuts before the idiot American producers got a hold of them.

Where's the Killer? C'mon...
Sure there's the lame normal edition and the Criterion... but that has been out of print for like 5 years. Bring one.

Any news about the video transfer???
If it's being released on HD formats, they have to have cleaned the picture up, but what about the standard DVD???
I don't know if I should stick to my criterion or upgrade....HELP ME SOMEONE:confused:

According to davisdvd.com, it has an anamorphic widescreen transfer.
Here's where I read from (just scroll down and you'll see a brief description of it),

Hey, thanks for the reply and welcome to the boards.
I was referring to as if anyone had heard that they had cleaned up the picture of the older transfers...because I already own the criterion version of this and really only would want to buy it again if they upgraded the video transfer. I pretty sure that they would, just wondered if someone knew for sure...
But thanks for the link!:D

In terms of picture quality I hope they do as good a job as they did with The 36th Chamber of Shaolin! If anybody is lucky enough to get a copy early, PLEASE let all of us know about the picture quality A.S.A.P.!

Yes, it's July 24th. But that's the American release date. Canada gets it roughly a whole month later! Which is why I'm having it imported from America! :D
