View Full Version : FUCK YOU FANBOYS!!

Damn, I'm so fucking sick of all the LOTR, Spiderman and Harry Potter fan boys I see these days. You can't make a damn comment (check the Bullock goes to Church news article by Mike Sampson currently on the main page and then read the comments that follow to see what I mean) about these movies without a crowd of asshats coming from all corners of the globe to try to preach to you about your level of stupidity for not seeing the greatness of these films.

Not all of us dream of sucking the Peter Parker of Harry Potter like you guys do....so step the fuck off. Just because someone makes a simple comment in regards to the movie and it's "vortex of suck" (as Sampson so greatly put it) it doesn't mean you have to jump from your broomstick in defense of "your precious".

I'm a major 70's and 80's "b" horror mark...but I don't jump out of the woodworks everytime someone bashes one of them. It's called an opinion fuckers and everyone is entitled to one and NOTHING you can say or do can make him/her wrong because it's THEIR opinion.

So next time you see anyone mention one of the above and the words next to it are NOT synonymous of "GREAT" try to just bite your tongue, grab your harry potter cuddly and move on.

Jasn

P.S. and NO i'm not saying you can't defend your favorite movies because someone else is talking bad about them, just don't go ballistic EVERYTIME someone mentions the fucking thing in a negative light.

I consider myself a Spider-man fangirl... But I don't go ballistic when someone disses it. I still haven't seen the third one though (sucks bein' broke)

glad you didn't mention star wars because I would have to break my lightsaber off in your ass

its too bad George Lucas ruined his own legacy and its now cool to rip on star wars, its also too bad Spielberg is about to ruin the Indy legacy or i'd have to bullwhip your face as well

sezperai
06-25-2007, 07:46 PM
haha it's been my experience that Star Wars fanboys and girls and Indy fans aren't near as psychotic as the LOTR, SPIDEY and HP fans (you aside haha)...therefore I didn't feel the need to emphasize them...

however, being an Indy mark myself, I can take the criticisms without lashing out and feel that anyone with half a lick of common sense and sanity should be able to do the same without going into a tyrade.

once again, I'll stress this is NOT about those ppl that debate when debate is warranted...this is for those fucking idiots that get their panties in a bunch if someone writes a 5000 word article about "Sideways" and makes a SHORT quip about THC being in Spiderman 3 and it sucking.

THOSE fucking people who nitpick shit like that should be shot on sight.

us star wars fanboys have had more time to swallow the fact that Lucas ruined his legacy, than Spidey fans who might just being feeling the series going down with 3 just two months ago

then again the Harry movies have been good but nothing fantastic, I enjoyed them all though, but I can't wait tell Harry dies in book 7 and the harry fans run into the streets wailing like banshees

Lotr's are great movies but god some of these lord of the rings fanboys will get into an arguement over how ROTK didn't suck because off all the endings, and yes the 50 endings put a pal on the entire series way to fucking finish it off Peter Jackson can you fade to black more asshole

I am one of the few who like Spidey 3 evidently

LordSimen
06-25-2007, 10:18 PM
I'm a Spidey fanboy, I'll openly admit it and will most likley debate the quality of the three films when a debate or question is raised, but I agree that most fanboys tend to get a little jumpy when someone bashes their favorite movies. But to me, those fanboys arn't half as bad as the fanboys of the source material who get angry every time a milimeter of a distance between the web pattern on teh Spider-man Outfit is changed. Haha.

if you do encounter one, feel free to tell them, in very descriptive terms, where you will be happy to stick your foot.

or even better, if you run across a LOTR psycho super-fan....just tell them the movies are a metaphor for homosexuality if you watch real close.......i have seen some go crazy over that when even another LOTR fan brings it up.

I love Star Wars. I love LOTR. But I don't go around dressing up to see them in theaters or anything. I also don't go around telling people how awesome they are. I'm a fanboy of movies; I know few people that aren't.

I hate it when fanboys start comparing franchises (especially Star Wars vs. LOTR). Kevin Smith made it funny in Clerks 2 but unfortunately Smith doesn't write what people say in real life.

there was no personal attack...just a reply to his "fuck you" to me.

and I just pointed out the fact that he fit the profile of exactly what I was talking about because he obviously didn't read my post, or even the several, where I said their was nothing wrong with being a fan of movies or defending your favorite movies. He just saw the title, jumped in to make a smart ass comment and left without knowing what I was talking about.

If someone can argue why they think the F13 series is bad I'll accept it, but so often people bash the series without having seen any of the movies. They bring up how many sequels there have been and take the common elitist view to look down upon them. Generally though, when you ask someone to support their argument in their debate they laugh at you like "Friday the 13th sucks" is some universal, objective fact that isn't worth talking about. It becomes quite obvious that they are just being snobby and have never actually seen any of the movies.

Scarfather

"I didn't like it because it was bad."

I think the problem fanboys have is people criticizing their favorite movie/franchise for a reason that's flimsy or a reason they don't even state, or course, that doesn't give the fanboy permission to explode about it (but then again, I've never seen a fanboy explode over something, but I don't go to imdb), but I do think it gives them permission to call you out on it.

And also, The Pin was being facetious in case you didn't notice.

There's a flip side to this coin, though guy. How many times is it that some high-minded prick with a hard-on for Goddard comes into somewhere and starts shoving his opinion down people's throats. That door does swing two ways, and just because someone thinks of the HP or LOTR films as childish or garbage doesn't give anyone the right to judge the people who love those movies. And therein is the rub. We're all guilty of judging someone for what they like or don't. Maybe that oughta change. Lest we forget, no matter what movies we love, we're all here because we love movies.

sezperai
06-26-2007, 02:06 PM
ONCE AGAIN

this is NOT about ppl who just like (or love) the movie.

it's about those people that go batshit ANYTIME someone even mentions the movie in a negative light.

I see nothing at all wrong with ANYONE liking LOTR, Spiderman or Harry Potter.....that's their choice and right as movie goers.

the problem comes in an instance like i referenced in the opening post. Mike Sampson made a post about the new movie that Sandra Bullock and Thomas Hayden Church were going to be in and just as an afterthought (as is done here) put "who was last seen in the vortex of suck that was Spiderman 3. Then, you scroll down to the comments and the only comments there at the time were ppl going crazy because he criticized Spidey 3 and then proceeding to bash joblo.com for it's "biased" postings.

The comment about THC was just a reference to the last movie he was in (which included Mike's opinion that it was indeed shit) and had NOTHING to do with the subject of the news article...it was merely a mention and an afterthought (as well as an identifier for those who may not know who THC is.) and suddenly Joblo.com sucks and is run by a bunch of propagandist whores. And, not 1 mention of the actual subject of the article from them.

THOSE PEOPLE are who this topic is directed at...not general fans or even superfans.

As I said, i'm a HUGE 70's and 80's "b" horror mark but if I'm in the forums and someone just happens to make a statement regarding "Last House on the Left" i'm not gonna go ballistic and proceed to tell him how stupid he is and how bad he fucking sucks for not liking MY kind of movie. Now, on the other hand, if someone starts a topic STRICTLY debating the worthiness of said movie, then sure, I'll chime in my two cents....but if I'm in a thread about damn Dawn of the Dead and someone just happens to include an off reference to Last House...then so be it...it does not warrant me flipping out and telling said person that they should burn in hell.

LAST TIME:

this is NOT about general fans or superfans. If you wanna dress up like a Jedi to go the the premiere then have fun....nothing at all wrong with it....BUT if while you are there, some guy just happens to mention not liking the new Star Wars movies (especially if he's headed into a totally DIFFERENT movie and is only making reference to a poster or something) you should keep your fucking mouth shut and realize that he is entitled to his opinion. His comment in NO WAY is meant to ruin the movie for you and if it does....SEEK HELP.

those people are just as annoying and even though I find the HP and LOTR movies to be complete garbage with a side helping of shit on a stick...everyone else is completely entitled to their opinion. However, when they single out a fucking footnote to jump off the deep end about, that's a bit ridiculous.

once again...see news article titled "Bullock Goes to Church" on the main joblo.com page to see what I mean. M.S. posts an afterthought about Spidey 3 and all the comments attack him for it, even though the article had NOTHING to do with S3 and proceed to say how bad joblo.com is.

it's stupid.

jasn

article in reference follows:

Thomas Haden Church has signed on to star alongside Sandra Bullock in the upcoming romantic comedy ALL ABOUT STEVE. Bullock will play a bright but slightly nutty crossword puzzle expert who fixates on a CNN cameraman after a blind date. They go their separate ways but she begins to follow him on his assignments across the country. It's from the screenwriter of LICENSE TO WED so you should know what you're getting yourself into here. Although it's a Sandra Bullock movie so if you got past that part, you deserve some kind of prize. Seems like a strange subject for Bullock to be tackling especially given her recent troubles with nutty stalkers. Church, who was last seen in the vortex of suck that was SPIDER-MAN 3, can be seen in the upcoming dramedy SMART PEOPLE with Dennis Quaid.

this is NO WAY warranted an attack on Joblo.com or even comment unless the comment was along the lines of "ALL ABOUT STEVE sounds like a pile of shit in the making etc etc etc....by the way I happened to like Spidey 3"

i would only get heated about some dissing a movie i like if it was like this.....

Some person: "Donnie Darko is a shitty movie"

Me: "What? why do you say that?"

Some person: "Its jsut a stupid movie and it sucks."

Me: "No, give me a reason why you think the movie sucked."

Some Person: "It just sucked and thats it."

etc etc etc

I hate it when ppl will give their opinion about something (especially if its not asked for, ie listening in on a convo then adding your own 2 cents) but have nothing to back their opinions with like examples or comparisons then i can get really pissed....... explode, probably not but i would have trouble remaining calm.

Fanboys are impossible to argue with because they are NOT AT ALL objective about their obsession. For whatever reason, they have personalized it and therefore feel like they have some personal stake into the film/game/music in question. They seemingly act like they were the ones that created it.

When they hear criticism, however valid it may be, it amounts to a personal attack on them. It's a form of cognative dissonance in that they cannot ever fathom another point of view than their own. It really is both cowardly and extremely arrogant behavior. Cowardly in that they simply cannot handle another point of view so they block it out completely. Arrogant in that they truly believe that they alone are right in their opinions.

Fanboys are at the bottom of the food chain right below maggots and just above parasites.

I can understand why people love Spidey, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter but i can't say any of those films are anything above a *** star rating for me (except maybe Fellowship and SM2, both slightly getting by with a ***1/2).

Its funny you mentioned those and not Indy or Star Wars (i'm a life long star wars fan and balls to wall die hard indy fan). So many people argue in favor of the three franchises you mentioned because of their rich source material. Well good source material is a good thing but not everything. Their cinematic adaptions are all pretty mediocre and rely on an fanbase from the get go. Indy and SW get points for me with originality.

Pretty much sums it up.

Personally, fan boys have really gotten on my nerves more lately because of a lack of objectivity more than anything else. I won't name names, but there have been a few that have outright killed any objective discussions about films simply because they HAVE to be right. And what's sad is they really are blind to other opinions even when people are almost agreeing with them.

I'm not the biggest fan of any one film/genre, but I happen to be a fan of the original SW trilogy. But I don't dress in costumes or wine and bitch when someone else disagrees with me. And I sure as hell don't insult other people when they disagree. How much does it really matter?

This post is pretty fucking brilliant, really.

Great post. The problem with 'fanboys' is that they take something so trivial and blow it out of proportion. Who gives a shit if someone says, "Frodo receives and Sam gives it." How does someone else's opinion affect your own opinion of a movie? It doesn't!! Someone has a different opinion to you!! Get over it!!

But to me, those fanboys arn't half as bad as the fanboys of the source material who get angry every time a milimeter of a distance between the web pattern on teh Spider-man Outfit is changed. Haha.

Now this I completely agree with. I'm a proud spidey fanboy, and I can say that not all of us act out of hand like you say. I'll debate it if someone is talking about it, but it's not worth making an ass out of anyone over. I like what I like. I don't think spidey fans are that bad, LOTR fans tend to be pretty bad imo. I don't pay any attention to HP fans because I just don't like the books or movies. Also, like mentioned, the fans of the source material are the worst... and it's not just spiderman. You take any adaptation of a comic or a book, the fanboys of the book/comic will tear it apart for every little thing. Now that is what makes me angry. It doesn't need to be exactly like the source material. Where's the fun in that? Then no one would ever wonder how they're going to do a movie, what the characters will look like, etc. All in all, it does get pretty rediculous and gets annoying.

The F13 sequels dont warrent a detailed explanation of how much they suck arse..;)

That explains why he's always crying. Thanks for clearing that up.

I once said years ago that The Simpsons, while still a good show, had lost some of it's edge. My teacher looked at me like I was a complete piece of crap and "gently hinted" that I was a complete ignorant fool who knew nothing.

I love the stuff that I love...I don't go nuts when someone says something bad about it. Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion of course, but what I hate is when you get people trying to make you feel stupid for liking what you enjoy. Those stupid Star Wars vs. Star Trek things..or any other combo you can think of. "You like that SHIT?!" etc....

I have to say the worst I've ever experienced is Star Trek people. Some of them are extremely sensitive...you dare hint an episode was bad and watch out.
