I'm a huge fan of this kind of music, and I wanted to make a thread to see if anyone else was, and what catalogues do they had, had access to, etc, maybe to see if anyone could help me find others I don't have or vice-versa, since apparently these aren't illegal to download.

For those who don't know what the hell I'm talking about, this kind of music is the one composed by certain groups of orchestras and composers for the sole purpose of movie advertising. So basically, it's the music you hear in trailers and nowhere else. Since these catalogues are only made for movie and advertising studios, they're damn impossible to find.

These are the ones I currently own:

-Brand X Music: Catalogue 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (currently getting 7 and 8).
-Position Music - Orchestral Series Vol. 2.
-X-Ray Dog - Canis Rex I.
-Immediate Music - Themes For Orchestra And Choir.
-Immediate Music - Epic #1.
-Audio Machine - Trailer Acts I, II and III.
-E.S. Posthumus - Unearthed.
-Globus - Epicon.

Currently getting:
-Music Of Hope.
-Pfeiffer Bros.
-Two Steps From Hell.

All in all it's around 1500 tracks, most of which are awesome.

So anyone else into this kind of music?

I love this type of stuff, but it sucks because lots of it never becomes available, or is almost imposible to find.

Well, tell me what particular groups you're interested in and I could most likely hook you up to many of their catalogues. Between SoulSeek and some other resources, I've found a goddamned gold mine. Have downloaded like 500 tracks in the last 2 days.

This has got to be one of the cooler obscure music collection obsessions I've seen for awhile.

Very nice.

Some of it is really amazing stuff, a lot of it can be really terrible though.

The only tracks I have personally are "Lucius Dei" from The Island trailer, and "Rising Empire (Choir)" from the X-Men 3 trailer.

Both are pretty fuckin' ace.

there's numerous pieces of music from movie trailers that i'd love to get a hold of but it's difficult to find out what they're called or who made them, the only one i've actually been able to find is the short piece from the Troy teaser

I might be able to help you with that.

Otherwise, try this: http://www.soundtrack.net/trailers/
Many times, it's wrong. But most of the times it's accurate so that helps a lot.

I'm currently looking for the amazing one in the "Blood Diamond" trailer. It's called "Prophecies" by "Two Steps From Hell". Sadly I'm not sure which catalogue it's from.

I've downloaded a bunch of the Immediate Music albums...I used to love soulseek but sadly I couldn't figure out how to get it to work when I got my Mac...

In any case, I really like getting my hands on this stuff especially for trying to edit some trailers together...

I'll have to see if I can find some of those X-Nightcrawler listed

had a look at Two Steps From Hell's website and it appears a number of pieces i've been looking for were probably done by them

i also remembered i have:
-Corner Stone Cues - Requiem for a Tower

i'm also currently aquiring most of X-Ray Dog's collections, looks like some other stuff i've been after is by them

I'll have to see if I can find some of those X-Nightcrawler listed I also edit trialers which is why I initially got into listening to it so much. If you don't find those, let me know, I can link you to some real good resources.

They do the absolute classic "Here Comes The King" track that's one of the most epic things ever, you probably remember it from the "Narnia" trailer. Amazing stuff.

I'm currently listening to Two Steps From Hell's "Dynasty". Kicks ass.

dammit, why'd you have to get me interested in this stuff? :p

been randomly going through some X-Ray Dog albums and really loving their music. the few tracks i've found by Two Steps From Hell have been great, Armen Hambar is also awesome

so far i have:

-Armen Hambar - Volume 1-3
-Audiomachine - Trailer Acts Vol I & II
-Brand X Music - Volume 9
-Corner Stone Cues - Requiem For A Tower
-Future World Music - Volume 4, 7
-Globus - Epicon
-Groove Addicts - FT1001 Full Tilt Volume 1
-Immediate Music - Abbey Road, Romantic & Adventure 2, Themes For Orchestra And Choir, Trinity And Beyond
-Pfeifer Broz. Music - Drums & Drones, London A.D. Volume I & II, Stool Box Disx 1
-X-Ray Dog - 1-12,14-25,27

it's a shame this stuff isn't commercially available or easier to get a hold of :(

-X-Ray Dog - 1-12,14-25,27 Nice. X-Ray Dog is awesome but is one of the few groups I don't own much of (only "Canis Rex", and it's pretty cool). You already have probably my favorite collection by Immediate Music ("Themes for Orchestra and Choir"). If you haven't, these are in my opinion the best tracks:

-Serenata (choir) - Any musician in the world will die happy when they can make something as beauitful, serene and epic as this.
-Blasphemy 2.0 (choir) - Absolutely badass. Used it in my LK2 trailer.
-Holy (choir).
-Lacrimosa (choir) - This one was made popular by the "Spider Man 2" trailer.
-Grand Inquisition - Epic as fuck.
-Fahrenheit (choir) - Not a lot to say about this track. Pure badassery.

I see you have the ninth catalogue by Brand X Music, how is it? I think it's the one that has "Hearts of Fire" from the 300 trailer, which is pretty cool.

Haven't tried Corner Stone, Pfeiffer Bros (but getting it), or Groove Addicts.

And what did you think of the "Epicon" album by Globus? Wasn't it amazing? "Orchard of Mines", "Preliator", "Sarabande Suite", "Take Me Away", "Europa" and "Diem Ex Dei" are incredible.

yeah, i'm starting to realise that, already have 2144 tracks with a lot more on the way
X-Ray Dog is awesome but is one of the few groups I don't own much of (only "Canis Rex", and it's pretty cool)
haven't given Canis Rex a listen yet, what i have played though (first couple of catalogues and some random tracks) has been excellent though
You already have probably my favorite collection by Immediate Music ("Themes for Orchestra and Choir").
haven't properly listened to the their stuff yet, i did check out the tracks you mentioned though, very very nice. i loooooove their use of a choir, it adds so much to the tracks and makes them even more epic to me

i liked it, the sounds are a bit repetetive at times (some of the tracks are very very similar) but there's a number of really great ones, some of which i can easily picture being in a trailer for an adventure or epic movie. they do some excellent build ups. i'm not sure whether "Hearts Of Fire" is on it though since the tracks don't seem to be titled properly (and i'm not familiar with the trailer), i also can't find any tracklisting's for their catalogues which is a pain

really loved it, great album (i'm missing tracks 9 and 10 though), very nice mix of different vocals and sounds. my favourite tracks would have to be Preliator, Europa and Diem Ex Dei

1. Go to "Wishlist" and add there all the groups you want. This is an active search so everytime someone with them logs on, it'll tell you.
2. Go to the chatrooms. "MovieMusic", "Scores", "MOVIES", "TheScoreZone" are the ones where most people who like this stuff get in. Once in the chatroom, right-click on the window and "Room Search". This will search only people in the room. Most of the time this is the best way.
3. Ask around the chatroom, but this one doesn't help much.

It's far from guaranteed that you'll get waht you want immediately, but this stuff is there. You'll find it eventually.

* * *

Anyway, I just got my hands on "Vienna CFH" by Pfeifer Music and it's not as good. Just short cues of epic chorals but not really musicalized like other stuff. I also got "Epic Action 1" by AHM Music, which is pretty cool.

Now it's Director's Cuts albums! Woo!

Hey guys... newbie here.

I've chatted with Nightcrawler a few times (hello again) and I think I've come across a Brand X vol 9 CD rip. Not sure though if I have a complete CD or not, because Hearts of Fire (from the 300 trailer) is NOT on here.

What I have is 27 tracks. Can anyone help with a track listing?

What I have is 27 tracks. Can anyone help with a track listing? But the track I gave you is "Hearts of Fire". The "300" trailer only uses that and Nine Inch Nail's "Just Like You Imagined", I think. Not sure why it's not in that Vol. 9 rip.

Could you tell me where to get Vols. 7-9?

DangerMouse™
08-06-2007, 10:39 PM
I don't know why it's not on Vol 9 either... my rip could be incomplete.

Regardless, Someone offered a nice 128k rip (yeah I wish it was better) and I gladly took them up on the offer. As to 7-9... well I'm sure we can work something out ;-)

I'm also looking to grab any ParodiFair albums too...

Here's what I've got (feel free to fill in any blanks)

Immediate Music:
Action and Drama 1 & 2
Themes for Orchestra and Choir 1 & 2

Brand X:
Vols 1-8 and possibly 9

Media Ventures:
Director's Cuts 1-7, 9-12, 16, 18-19 and 21
Samplers 5, 6, 8, 9
Other Themes 1 and 6
Masters 1-7
Suites and Themes

Future World Music:
Editor's Toolkit Vol 1 and 2

and

The X-Ray Dog Collection (yes... all of them)

I just got a few more "Media Ventures" and "Director's Cuts". Any chance someone could hook me up with Brand X's #7 and/or 8?

Hey, welcome to JoBlo. A little difficult to hook up with these since they're taken down soon after they're put up, but the best source is http://www.movieorigins.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=10.

I also have a YouTube account with my editing 'portfolio'- Right here (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=LeonSakau).

It's cool.

Just a tip for that forum. Check it often and whenever you see something up for download you're interested in, do it immediately. You have no idea how many amazing albums I've lost because I leave it for later.

But as long as I could get "Dynasty" A.K.A. Best Advertising Collection Ever, I'm satisfied.

Bumping this thread on account of a few guys who've been interested in posting their collection in hopes of trading catalogues.

Hopefully some of you guys can help me discover what are the best ways to go about trading entire albums. I used to use SoulSeek but for some reason, it's become impossible for anyone to connect to my account. Maybe someone could help me there. Or suggest something else.

Hello everyone!!!

Alright, I'll guess I am the first one to post my collection on here...

I've uploaded my list here:

link removed/outdated

because the list is somewhat long and I don't want to flood this topic...

If someone wants some of these albums, just say so, and we might be able to TRADE.. :D

As for ways to download, online forums such as peb.pl, can be quite useful as wel as Rapidshare search engines, since a lot of music is uploaded on Rapidshare.com. Examples are: http://www.rapidshare-searcher.com/, http://www.quicksearch.info/, and http://rapidlibrary.com/

I hope this helps some of you out.

Posthumus and Epicon by Globus. I'm really interested in sharing/trading! Can we set up this "market"?

Is this thread still open? If so, I've got a pretty respectable collection.

Two Steps from hell - Vol 1, Shadows & nightmares, dynasty, all drums go to hell, most of pathogen, part of legend, nemesis

Immediate Music - Complete

Xray dog - first 28 albums

E.S. Posthumus - Complete

Nick Phoenix and BT - 300 yrs later

Still downloading more...

If anyone has the Legend, Ashes, Pathogen, Dreams and Imaginations albums for Two Steps, I'd love to trade what I've got for those albums. They're so god damn hard to find... :)
