Okay I know I'm probably wasting my time with this one but has anyone heard of the band Leatherface? They are an intelligent and emotional punk band who do not get much recognition. They hail from a small town in England and I think they are one of the finest bands around.

Unfortuantely I have never been able to get their two breakthrough albums Mush and Fill Your Boots but everything else I have heard is pretty fantastic. Cherry Knowle, Minx, The Last, Horsebox, Dog Disco... hell even the split album that they did with Hot Water Music was very good.

For those of you who have heard of the more recent Hot Water Music and like their stuff then I would suggest that you try to seek out Leatherface as well because they have been greatly influenced by them.

Personal favorite tracks include:

Colorado Joe/Leningrad Vlad
Books
Not A Day Goes By
Hops and Barley
Little White GOD
Sour Grapes
Plastic Surgery
Heart is Home

For those interested in actual passionate punk straying far from the likes of bands like Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Sum 41... this band is highly recommended. Just be warned. Frankie Stubbs' voice takes a little... getting accustomed to. He kinda sounds like Louis Armstrong.

Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I didn't know the still existet but I dig them. Only know the "Mush" and "Paradora's Box" albums though. Never thought of Louis Armstrong by Stubb's vocals though, I think he sounds a bit like Lemmy from Motörhead.

Wow I wasn't expecting a response. Yeah Leatherface reformed in 1999 and have released two more albums as well as a split album with Hot Water Music. I have heard mentioned that he sounds like a cross between Louis Armstrong and Lemmy so it's funny that you mention that. Also they released a live dvd a couple of years ago and it has a pretty damn good track selection on it. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

i don't listen to them much any more but I had Mush back when it came out. I got the album for their cover of message in a bottle but the entire album is awesome. i later got Horsebox but only listened to it a couple of times.

After all the positive things I have heard about it I REALLY need to hear Mush. I thought Horsebox was pretty good. The second half lags a little though but Sour Grapes is priceless. Just a beautifully crafted song. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
