I have never seen this movie. Nor do I care to but dammit does the title have me intrigued! I mean I have heard so many jokes about crappy sequels with the suffix "Electric Boogaloo" added to the end. I know it's stupid but I find it pretty funny. Has anyone else found this odd occurence amusing? Has anyone else actually SEEN the movie? Aside from the "Electric Boogaloo" part I never even knew what the actual title of the film was after all these years. Just a couple of weeks ago I found out after entering it into Wikipedia. Only in the 80s could you make something as stupid as a breakdancing movie... Oh wait... I forgot about You Got Served... Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Is this the one with Jean-Claude Van Damme?

that's the first one

the only reason i've heard of the first film is due to the brief appearence from Van Damme, i didn't even know it had a sequel, and i doubt i'll ever watch them since they sound like complete shit

Oh man... thank you for that clip Cronos. My life is now fulfilled. It also had Ice-T in it who returned for the sequel. I think the original was actually a hit though with the sequel being a total dud. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

...and boy are they.

Back when I was a kid I never saw the appeal to breakdancing (maybe 'cause I wasn't any good at it) so that's possibly why I never liked either one. I'd like to think I tried to give it them a chance but they aren't even "so bad, they're good".

I know there are people who like them but I couldn't get into them.

That Van Dam clip is hilarious, and here i thought Kick boxer was the hieght of his dancing nonsense, but i stand corrected.

The only time i've heard of htis movie was in an episode of Family Guy, when Lois and Peter are both runnig for PTA leader person and at he debate Peter tries to recant hte main events of the movie as something he did but Lois reminds him its a movie he watch the previous night lol

Breakin' is gold man. That's the first movie to accurately depict life on the streets. It was like a predassesor to Boyz In The Hood. The people just didn't want to admit what was going on right in front of them. America wasnt ready for the truth:

Fixed ! LOLOL
That .gif is so hilarious.

Seriously , the Breakin' franchise is average at best but Lucinda Dickey was hot in Ninja III : The Domination ( she looks tomboy in Breakin' )

LOL

DAMN.... Jean Claude was in the first BREAKIN..... I mean cameo that is?

And I thought him strutting his booty in BLOODSPORT was a first.
I GUESS NOT!

Well its been awhile since I have seen that movie and yeah both flicks are waaaaay waay below B Grade Type flicks....

Figure there would have NOT been a #2 if the first one was not a underdog hit at the box office. Figure it was part of the teen themed flicks at the time.
Now I am waiting for BREAKIN 1 to get re-issued as a soundtrack.

Here is part of it's Wikipedia entry:

[edit] "Movie Sequel 2": Electric Boogaloo
Since the release of the film, the unusual title suffix "Electric Boogaloo," a reference to a funk-oriented dance style from the 1970s, has become a running joke concerning movie sequels. It has sometimes come to be an insider's comment about the quality of a sequel (similar to Alan Smithee as the director). Namely that the sequel:

Will never be made but which a studio would like to make because the original was so profitable, an example would be Gladiator 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Should never be made (i.e., the original movie doesn't logically have a sequel), example: Schindler's List 2: Electric Boogaloo.
The original movie was very poorly received. Example: Gigli 2: Electric Boogaloo.
The sequel is made by a producer/director not associated with the original (good) movie, who are just trying to 'cash in' on the original's success. Example: American Psycho 2:Electric Boogaloo
An example of this is when David Spade (jokingly) said, "Any woman who sleeps with me will definitely get a part in Joe Dirt 2: Electric Boogaloo ", a reference to his movie Joe Dirt. This suggested to some that no sequel was planned; however, in 2007, Spade announced that there would indeed be a Joe Dirt 2.

It has also been used to lampoon the actual name of a sequel when it is found to be ridiculous or disappointing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this title fascinating enough to write about. Van Damme actually had some fly moves. And to think this would be the man who would go on to be chosen to play the Predator! Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

It reminds me of a line from another Van Damme movie, something like, "Just looking at that hurts."
