I'm in the minority but I really liked 3 the best. IMO, they get better with each installment.

I'd rank them:

3
2
1

I just each movie gets more clever and more suspenesful and exciting and just plain old entertaining.

Although the first one does have the best opening scene and the third one does cheat as far as who the killer turns out to be. But that's my only complaint about Scream 3. I think it's terrific. And I particularly loved Parker Posey in Scream 3. She was hilarious.

I have to go with the first for such an awesome beginning and incredibly unexpected end! It's probably the most intelligent in the series.

I voted Scream 2 because I remember that one being my favorite. In all honesty though I haven't seen the sequels since I saw them on theatres so my opinion could have changed by now. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Where the first one poked fun at horror movie cliches to create a genuinely funny, thrilling, and scary experience, the other two attempted to recreate the first film over and over, but with less humour and a more serious tone, becoming what the first film was making fun of, joining the ranks of forgettable modern horror franchises like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legend.

I thought the first two were extremely clever. I loved all the theories shared about the rules of horror films, and the rules of their inevitable sequels..and even the suspense scenes were pretty good. But there's that scene in the third film where Jamie Kennedy talks about the rules of trilogies that always irks me....he seems to fail to mention that usually the third film in the series is usually the one where they have run out of ideas, and the premise and suspense has just gotten tired. And that's exactly what the case is with Scream 3. It was cool to see Lance Henrikson, though. Anyway, I voted for the first Scream.

After seeing Scream 2 I was mildly disappointed and didn't bother with Scream 3.

2.Scream 2-8/10
3.Scream 3-5.5/10

Scream for the win.

2 was a lot of fun as well. Let's not talk about 3.

The first SCREAM was a masterpeice of horror, the other two were dumb fun, but nothing short of average at best.

The last two didn't come close.

I like all three, but of course the first is my favorite.

The first was the only one that I found genuinely scary, as well as funny. The second two, I just found funny. I love them all, but the cleverest and most intelligent by far is the first one. Plus, you're right, the killers in the first film were the best. Matthew Lillard was EXCELLENT. "DID YOU REALLY CALL THE POLICE?? MY MUM AND DAD ARE GONNA BE SO MAD AT ME..."

Love them all, but haven't seen them in a while to remember which one I like the most. I would say the third one. There were some scary ass moments in that one. Like when the killer calls Sydney and acts like a woman in trouble!!! Scared the shit out of me.

But the opening scene in Scream is the scariest part of all 3. Chilling as fuck.

Although I liked all three, the first is still miles ahead of the sequels.
