Probably the hardest film to predict for this summer. Will Simpsons fans from now and from when it started rush out to see it in theatres? Will most people wait until DVD? Will is just be a teenager thing?

I originally thought that it would be a smash hit and make 200-300 million, but after reading many predictions my thoughts have changed.

Opening: $50 million

Final Gross: $150 million


What are your thoughts?

I don't know anyone who really wants to see this movie, and I think The Simpsons haven't been funny for years, the trailers aren't all that great.

I'll guess

35 - 40 Million Opening

110 Million Final Gross

I may be wrong.

OPEN: 17 mil

GROSS: 88 mil

I'm gonna go out on a limb here.

Opening weekend - 65-70 million.
Overall - 170 million.

It's gonna either be huge, or a flop, I can't really see an in between, just depends on how good it is. I'm guessing 35-50 opening with 100-130 final gross.

I'm guessing a $40 million opening weekend with a final of $120 million. Even if it sucks people will see it JUST because it is THE SIMPSONS. My friend and I have debated this and he doesn't think it will make more than $30 million total which I think is waaaaaay too low. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Seems a little low IMO. There are so many Simpsons fans out there, and even if they have grown tired of it, they will still see it, as they will remember the good times of 20 years ago when the episodes were drop dead hilarious. And it has only been in the last few years where the episodes haven't been great. And how many kids are going to beg their parents to take them to this? Around 75% of those kids will succeed. Parents + Kids = BIG $$$$$$.

I'm not saying it will be a smash hit, 300+ million total domesic grosser, but I do think it will do pretty well.

Tell me about it. I mean I am still a big supporter of the show but don't get me wrong. I understand much of their fan base has grown increasingly weary of them over the last 8 years but still. This is THE SIMPSONS we're talking about! The movie was rumored TEN years ago. It definitely has a bigger audience than $30 million. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

The fact that the Simpsons are still around after almost 20 years tells me that it'll open with about 50 million, and a total of 170 million. I myself am not a huge fan, I'll watch it if nothing else is on, but after the first 8 to 10 years it got kinda old.

The Simpsons is still funny, I don't care what anyone else says!

That being said, I think it should do around 45-50 mil. opening weekend. It might total out at around $135-140 which would be a good haul. DVD Sales will definitely be high.

Tough call, but I think it will be a big disappointment.

Summer movies released at the end of July almost always crash and burn simply because people are wore out from seeing movie after movie since the beginning of may.

I say it makes less than $50 total.

Oh man. How wrong I was. How was I supposed to know that it would nearly double my opening weekend prediction?! And I thought I was being generous.
