Hopefully I'm not the only X-Files fan here.
I guess the script is almost done; Duchovny is saying: "Chris [Carter, the show's creator] has written it with Frank Spotnitz, and Chris will direct it…And [co-star Gillian Anderson is] on board, and I'm on board, and that's all I can tell you. I mean, I'm looking forward to seeing what he did."
I've been waiting and waiting for this shit forever. I'm hoping they go with the idea of doing a "monster of the week" type plot and stay away from the alien mythology (because that is dead as dirt).

Duchovney has been saying this for years. How is this any different from then?

I'll believe It when filming actually begins.

You're not the only X Files fan my man. I am a huge fan and just got back into watching the episodes. Probably my favorite non-cartoon show on TV.

As for the film, I cant wait. The first movie was awesome.

I loved the first movie, and I love the entire series. I can only wonder as to what the story will be this time around. Scully has another baby, and it's... wait for it. Not an alien :D

Not to be a jerk, but does anybody really care anymore?
This will probably be released the same week as Todd McFarlene`s new "Spawn" movie and the new Guns 'n' Roses album.

I care. I want to see Scully have another baby. And it grows up to be an alien clone of Mulder. Then we have a good premise for a movie.

Mulder Vs Mulder [kramer vs kramer]

Or Foxzilla Vs Scullysaurus :D

it could be interesting, although i'm not sure how thye would tie it into the existing story.

Everything I've heard over the past couple years while it's been in development hell sounds like they are trying to go with a story that stands alone away from the alien mythology (like 70% of the episodes). Which could go in any direction; vampires, werewolves, mutants, the occult... and any of those could potentially kick ass.
Plus if they use this next film to spark interest in people again then they could go back and do an alien one... that is the beauty of The X-Files. I think some of you would be surprised at the number of fans this show has in the general population.

It's different since now there's actually a script instead of everybody going "When Chris gets around to it, maybe...".

I'm optimistic and would certainly love to see this. Especially with all the pressure gone from tying the movie into the show like they did with the first one.

I'd love a second movie, but I won't get my hopes up until filming starts.

The X Files is one of my fav shows of all time! I'm totally "on board"!
I'm slowly collecting the series on DVD now that they've gone on sale. And I'm falling in love with the show all over again! Brilliant!

Millennium > X-Files

Mellinium was okay though a bit too dreary at times. But it's nowhere near as awesome as The X-Files.

The worst episode of The X-Files is better than the best episode of Millenium!

Do you know if other actors from the show have been cast? Robert Patrick, Mitch Pillegi...? I look forward to see that one. How are they bringing Mulder back? I thought that Mulder gave up his crusade? He found out the truth wasn't out there.
