Hollywood hasn't learned from Dumb and Dumberer or Son of the Mask

Those are sequals to Jim Carrey movies that don't star Jim Carrey. You'd think after those colossal failures they'd learn from them but apparently they haven't.

Now comes word of an Ace Ventura sequel that will likely not star Carrey. And instead of Carrey, it stars the kid from Nancy Drew and License to Wed. He plays Ace's son. Great. :rolleyes:

Variety reports that Josh Flitter (License to Wed, Nancy Drew) will topline Morgan Creek comedy Ace Ventura 3, directed by David M. Evans.

The second sequel will be produced by Morgan Creek's James G. Robinson. David Robinson will also serve as a producer with Morgan Creek's Guy McElwaine executive producing.

Principal photography will begin Sept. 17 in Orlando, Florida.

The screenplay, written by Jason Heimberg, Justin Heimberg and Jeff Sank, centers on the son of Ace Ventura following in his father's footsteps by becoming a pet detective for the 7th-grade set and tracking a stolen baby panda after his mother's wrongly arrested for the crime.

Why in the hell would any studio decide to make another sequel to a Jim Carrey movie without Jim Carrey. There have been three so far Son of the Mask and Dumb and Dumberer were miserable failures and Evan Almighty has done alright but it can be considered a failure due to it's obscene budget.

I hope this movie is either straight to video or a complete box office bomb. I wish the studios would get off their lazy asses and try to come up with some original ideas instead of milking these essentially dead franchises for all they're worth.

Yeah I agree with everyone this sounds like one of those to stupid to believe ideas. My guess is the studio is going to ashcan the film; make a shitty movie on purpose so they can keep the licensing rights to the character or something.
