I recently picked up Roger Ebert's "The Great Movies" and after reading it I was wondering what films he featured on his top 10 list. I know that he has made one but I can't find it. If anyone knows what it is please let me know. Thank you.

'Psycho' is Hitchcock's defining film.

Looks like a standard critic list. I like his 2002 list better not just because it has Vertigo but also for Apocalypse Now, Tokyo Story and Raging Bull. Didn't know he liked La Dolce Vita that much.

Thanks for the links Scarfather. I dig his 2002 list better but both are great. And yes Vertigo is a damn good film.

Probably to most people yeah, and most likly his most famous film. My personal favorite though is Rear Window.

Silly me, I actually like 'Notorious' mountains and mountains over 'Vertigo'.

Funny.

I believe on the Ebert & Roper show about a year or so ago when he was on the show, he said Citizen Kane was his all time favorite film.

Good list. Love to see Aguirre on there.

Regarding Hitchcock, I haven't seen enough of it but I do love Vertigo, though my favorite has always been Rear Window.

But yeah, a damn good list.

I wonder why he decided to replace Floating Weeds with Tokyo Story...

WHAT!? No Clifford?! No Mr. Nanny?! No Leprechaun in the Hood?! No MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE?! How can I even begin to take this list seriously when he has forgotten all the classics? Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Yeah that's second for me and Rebecca would probably be third. He made so many great films that it's hard for me to order them, except Vertigo.

My personal favorite of Hitchcock is The Lady Vanishes, but his best film all out, that I've seen, is Psycho. I still have to see Vertigo and Notorious of all his most acclaimed films.

Ebert's list is solid, if not predictable. Glad to see La Dolce Vita on there. I'm not a big fan of Aguirre though. It looks kind of silly having that and Apocalypse Now next to each other.

Rear Window anally rapes anything else Hitchcock has done.

Vertigo pwns all. End of discussion.

His list has been posted on the boards a couple of times, so no real surprises there. A generally predictable lot, sure, but they're all great movies (especially Kane and Hitchcock).

I've never really been fond of his picks...or any criticts for that matter...if I need opinions, I usually turn to this site or my friends.

Even though they are great movies, I don't think Vertigo, Rear Window, or Psycho deserve to be on a top 10 best list. But of course it is his list.

By the way, Rear Window is my favorite of the three.
