http://www.the-fun-zone.co.uk/moviespics07/skinwalkers_poster.jpg
Directed by James Isaac
Genre: Horror
Tagline: They live among us. They hunt us.
Plot Outline: A 12 year old boy and his mother become the targets of two warring werewolf packs, each with different intentions and motives.
Starring: Jason Behr, Elias Koteas, Rhona Mitra and Kim Coates.
Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, some sexual material and language.
Runtime: 110 minutes
I have faith in PG-13 horror after 1408, but this is the kind of movie that HAS to be R to be decent. I have no faith in this movie. I will wait until an R rated DVD.

When I first heard about this (it seems like 10 years ago now), I was excited. I would love more (decent) werewolf flicks. But the delays and the change in rating leave me with no desire to see it. A shame because initially it had promise.

Trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/skinwalkers/trailer/)
i was interested in it ages ago when it was announced but that was a pretty cruddy trailer, looks like it could be a dumb fun rental but i kept getting Forsaken type vibes from it which isn't good

About the best thing I can say about this movie is that Rhona Mitra is hot and at least it's not the worst looking movie opening on the 27th. That would be Who's Your Caddy?

I wish Elias Koteas landed better projects. Such a fantastic actor.

Natassia Malthe's hotter.
I think it looks fun, the PG-13 rating bugs the hell out of me though.

I'll be skipping this in favor of THE SIMPSONS movie. 1408 worked as PG-13 but I think it might be the exception, not the rule. Skinwalkers already would have a hell of a hard time convincing me to see it just because it's a werewolf film. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I just don't know about this movie. Stan Winston designed werewolves as an idea kind of makes me drool, but the PG-13 rating and the trailers don't offer much hope.
1408 works as a PG-13 because there's really no reason for it to be R. Werewolf attacks aren't bloodless. R-rated makes sense.

Yeah that also leaped up my interest to now actually being quite excited for this to come out...it's likely going to flop pretty badly but that never mattered to me...Jason X suprised the hell out of me as mindless entertainment...and I think chopped down or not, the people behind such can make a fun horror/action type mix well.
and Natassia Malthe is in it, that should be enough for me...aka my current desktop, hahah.

I'd love to believe that this could be dumb fun like Jason X, but I just don't think that's likely. It began filming nearly two years ago, the release date has been delayed and now it's PG-13. I have not seen or heard anything that would give me even a little hope that this doesn't totally suck.

Totally agreed. When I saw him in the trailer my interest perked up a bit.
Still it looks appallingly terrible, and it's PG-13.... doesn't seem to bode well after watching Cursed. Blech.

But Jason X has Jason in it, and it's R. This is not R & the trailer and TV spots do nothing for me. Different situations entirely.

That moakes so much sense that this is made by the guy who made Jason X. I was sitting here telling myself that skinwalkers looks like a damn good straight to dvd movie, and thats exactly what I thought of Jason X. Not something I would ever see in theatres, but that I would rent and love on dvd.

while i like the general plot of the film, which could have resulted in an interesting film, not a lot works in Skinwalkers. the look, feel and direction (Isaacs obviously likes poorly done slow motion) are mundane and screams straight to dvd and it's not the sort of thing i'd expect from a film that gets a theatrical release. the action scenes are dull and impossible to get into or really enjoy. the make-up and effects are decent (aside from towards the end where it's laughable at times), there isn't much gore, there are cuts, a gunshot to the head, aftermath of a slit throat and blood pools/splashes, i'm generally not that bothered by a lack of gore but this could have used more. the acting isn't that bad but at the same time none of it stands out as being very good either, although that could be down to the characters being increadibly thin and them not having much to work with

Skinwalkers - 3/10
Keep in mind, this is a review of the R-rated version which I saw. It starts off ok, but once Grandma pulls out some guns and a gunfight begins, it kind of goes downhill from there. At one point the Grandma is shooting and she hands a gun to the boy and says "learn how to load a gun." I knew I was in trouble. Then the rest of the movie consisted of boring gunfights, chases and crappy dialouge. The movie is too cheesy to be a fun B-movie and the dialouge is so bad, its not even laughable. I seriously am wondering how this is not an STV. On the plus side, the R-rated version delivers plenty of bloody and graphic violence as well as numerous F-bombs for your viewing pleasure. Overall it really just isn't that good. I could not wait until it was over. Not even so bad its good like Jason X.

Oh, much worse than Captivity. Captivity didn't have a Grandma kicking more ass than John McClane and demanding a child to learn how to load a gun. And it wasn't funny. :D

Since I haven't seen Captivity, I can't say if this movie's worse than that or not. But back to the movie, I saw the R-Rated version also, and I actually liked it. Maybe I'm just desensitized to bad movies (House of the Dead and Dracula 3000 will do that to you). Yeah, it had a few corny lines and could have used some better characterization (everyone kinda gets thrown together without any real build-up), I still enjoyed it more than Blade: Trinity, Blood & Chocolate, and Bloodrayne. Plus it's got Elias Koteas and Kim Coates as werewolves. :D
I give it a C+. Harmless little film that moved at a surprisingly brisk pace, but had a really bad ending, that being the worst part of the film IMO.

I liked this film more than Blade: Trinity. Blade: Trinity was a horrible excuse to a sequel that pretty much buried a very good franchise with horrible acting and a obscene amount of ridiculous language. I'm all for cursing, but David Goyer seemed to have been dared to come up with the most imaginative, childish, and ridiculous cursing possible. Also, it's sad when you take someone who can play a pretty damn good, menacing villain, who can also be funny, even if it's just on wrestling (Triple H), and make him unintimidating, un-funny, and downright pathetic.
Oops, got off topic.

My point wasn't that Blade was better than Skinwalkers (even though it is), I was saying that Skinwalkers and Blade are two very different movies. Skinwalkers is much less violent and has a very different plot and story. The only similarity is within Vampires.

No worries, everyone makes at least one typo in their life, or in my case, alot.
Y'know, I was reading an interview James Isaac did for that Pig Hunt movie he's working on, and this quote he said caught my eye.
“Our goal is to make this movie our way, without the influence of the Hollywood machine that unfortunately has created a system that chips away at the creative process with little respect for the filmmakers. I simply want to do something my way for once.”
Makes you wonder if he's talking about this film.

While I have no doubts that this film will have its fair share of problems, I fail to see how a B-minus movie can be too cheesy to have fun watching. Of course, I also enjoyed the film Killer Shrews.

It's so cheesy, that it just doesn't work. There is no fun in this movie. The parts that are meant to be serious are cheesy and the parts that are made to be cheesy are just plain horrendous. This is without a doubt the worst movie of the year (mind you I haven't seen Who's Your Caddy), and I forgot to mention that it is actually quite boring. Quite a few slow spots for a 90 minute movie.

A pretty entertaining action/horror flick despite being a bit generic and too tamed.
It has a better cast than expected from this type of film, and some great effects work by Stan Winston; plus it gave me the chance to see Natassia Malthe in something that isn't terrible.

Well I didn't read the entire thread but looks like I agree with most people.
Shitwalkers was very, very bad.
I had zero expectations for this movie, had not even seen the trailer, my wife wanted to see it.
Its sad when you have no expectations and a movie doesn't even live up to that.
Music: Horrid and it never fit the scene.
Effects: Basic home computer quality.
Wolves: Laughable.
I know that Winston is a legend in the effects industry but maybe his interns worked up the look for the wolves. Or maybe he is finally become obsolete in this world of CGI.
Whatever you do, do not see this movie!
The absolute worst thing about this movie, besides the fact that he had a freakin goatee in wolf form is that they set it up for a sequel.

I'm gonna say Full Eclipse from 1993. I don't really count the Underworld movies as werewolf movies because the vampires are obviously the main focus while there werewolves are just set decoration.
This was pretty weak. I thought it might be a fun, cool little movie, but the poor direction in this thing is just remarkable. I mean, it's got to be something like fifteen minutes before the main character(s) get established.
So low budget that it comes off looking like a very special, two-part episode of Renegade. Hell, the main bad guy even looks like Lorenzo Lamas.
Everyone was shooting and not hitting a thing - and they're like ten feet apart! Grandma pulls out two guns... Lorenzo Lamas is standing there with no cover , just shooting away and no one can hit him...
Not to mention that half the "action" sequences were simply shots of the characters reloading their guns.
For some great war that will determine the fate of werewolves all over the whole world, there aren't a lot of people fighting over it.
