For the love of god, Robert Zemeckis has got to get back on track. He used to be such a talented filmaker, but he has recently turned to crap. I'm sure that he still has what it takes to make great movies, but he just continues to take on stupid projects. He has also aquired a penchant for producing some of the most god-awful movies of the past few years (Thir13 Ghosts, House of Wax, etc).

What happened to the guy who directed Forrest Gump, Romancing the Stone, and the Back to the Future trilogy? I want him back! I have hope for Beowulf even though its bound to be loaded with CGI, but I would like to see some more live-action classics from Mr. Zemeckis.

Seriously Contact and Cast Away were great films. Even What Lies Beneath was decent. Lets get back to live action please.

Death Becomes Her was interesting, but it just wasn't that good of a movie. It didn't seem like something he would direct.

Beowulf is motion capture.

have yet to see Polar Express (never looked very good to me) but i'm rather looking forward to Beowulf, mainly because Crispin Glover is in it

I made a similar rant a while ago titled "good directors: where have they gone?". Zemeckis naturally made the list. I mean, this is the guy that made the Back to the Future trilogy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and more importantly, the triplet of utter modern masterpieces that is Forrest Gump, Contact and Cast Away. And then he took a long break and has now moved to motion capture CG animation. So yeah, Beowulf may be interesting, but it's still animated. I want Zemeckis back in the LIVE-ACTION director's chair! I mean come ON man, get your shit together and leave the animation behind! It was a novelty in The Polar Express, but if you'll start making every movie from now on in motion capture animation, I'll KILL you!

The same goes for James Cameron. Motherfucker made some of the best live-action movies ever, but he hasn't even directed something in 10 years when CGI has leapt leaps and bounds. And now this Avatar project is coming out, and for some reason I'm fearing that it will far more resemble Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones than Terminator 2: Judgement Day. And that PISSES ME OFF!!!!!11

Why? I don't see why it's a less valid art form.

I assume that you are referring to CGI and motion capture. I don't have a problem with him using it on occasion, but when that becomes all that he does it starts to irritate me. I loved his live action movies and that is what I want to see.

Has he directed anything since The Polar Express? I know he's got Beowulf in the works, but anything else?

Beowulf is my most anticipated movie right now, I think Zemeckis is doing just fine as of late.

He's making a version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL using the same technique as THE POLAR EXPRESS and BEOWOLF. Jim Carrey is playing Scrooge as well as all three ghosts.

I enjoyed it enough, some really good make up effects too, it has been along time since i've seen it though
