I just found out about this couple minutes ago. The famed foreign Oscar winning film Burnt By The Sun director has been at work not only with a sequel to the original, but also a famous Sydney Lumet classic "12 Angry Men"

This is his production company's website. I dug up a bit more and apparently it's coming out in September 2007

The main 12 actors are composed of some Russia's finest, as well as Nikita Mikhalkov himself.
It's updated to fit the crisis in Chechnya, and the 18-year old boy is now Chechen, there will be scenes of battle but they are served as flashbacks to the boy, etc.
I for one am interested, Mikhalkov is the equivalent of Spielberg (minus special effects movies) or any other great filmmaker so I have full faith.
But I have to ask now, what are everyone else's thoughts on this?
