Compared to any other ones you also dislike, what 2
(live action or animated) film franchises do you regard as the most overrated one/s and please say why, for each one mentioned.

Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. I actually like Lord of the Rings decently and I had to go with Star Wars only because of the prequels. Most series (that I've seen) that spawn enough sequels to become a franchise aren't terrible.

LOTR & The Godfather series...JK!!! :p

Not that I dislike the series, but Pirates didn't live up to all the hype I heard going into the first one. It was good but not "OMG THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE EVER!!!" good.

I really can't think of another franchise that fits this category right now...

Lord of the RIngs by a long shot. Nothing else really comes close IMO.

haha thats tough to read that APzombie im sorry you feel that way

For me it probably would be SpiderMan simply because he takes too much from Supes and is not nearly as interesting.

And my second would probably be the kill bill series if that counts. I think Kill Bill 1 was stupid and didnt see 2 yet because i have no interest.

Halloween because the whole Myers thing got fucking boring by the end of part 2. to me this series ended with part 3, the only great sequel to come out of the whole thing

Harry Potter because Harry Potter sucks

Pirates and Shark. Both franchises are awful.

The two "Friday" franchises.

Friday the 13th & the Friday movies (the comedy franchise starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker who was in the first one).

Never understood the appeal of either franchise, although I did enjoy Freddy Vs Jason and Jason Goes to Hell. But the rest of the Friday the 13th franchise sucks hard. Especially the first one which is one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

The Matrix and as much as I hate to say it, Spiderman.

Not only did I hate the sequels, but I also feel the same for the original. It's pretty much one big CGI fest (which I hate). I just don't care for the story. I heard that Johnny Depp was originally thought of to play Neo. I think the movies would have benefitted greatly from him.

I am a big Spiderman fan and have been since I was about 5. I grew up with the animated series. When I saw the trailer for the first one I was beyond excited, but what I saw in the theater disapointed me. I tried to convince myself that it was a good movie, but I couldn't. The same goes for the second. The third definately had its flaws, but I enjoyed it much more than the first two. I thought it was more in the spirit of the animated show.

my fav was jason X. every time that guy says " its ok he justs wants his machette back" i cant stop laughing

i guess i would say starwars. its not that its bad i just think its overated. i think the whole mass appeal hinges on the jedi powers and light sabers. imagine them useing ninja sowrds and not having telekenetic powers.

and

the matrix again not bad moviess just alittle overated the secound and third movies are silly. neo can stop bullets fly faster than light and numerous other things. but it takes him like 10 min to beat some agents/ thugs come on

Pirates, definitely, although I've only seen the first two. Can't really think of any others that I've seen that I think are overrated.

I'd say 007 personally...they all might even be entertaining, not sure on that...but I hate how if any other franchise gets more then 3 sequels, people start talking down on it and saying its too much and overkilled, yet look at 007. I'm a horror fan and love sequels personally most times, but atleast that genre can cover their characters up with a mask or make-up. I can't even get into Bond because I'll say "HEY Bond is Connery...no wait, its Daniel Cra- no Roger Mo- no Pierce Brosnan."

I don't know,just think they're overrated in general I guess.

I'm going to go with:

Transformers - because the majority of American thinks this movie was great...and guess what, it's not that good.

Shrek - how many of these movies need to be made? The first one was clever, not great by any means. The second one, more of the first movie...3rd one!?! Don't bother.

Harry Potter people get way too obsessive and it's sick cause 13 year-olds r obsessed and so r 70 year-olds and every age in between

and Pirates i thought the first one was good and i felt there was no need for a sequel and def no need for a third

and now a whole bunch of teen girls(even though i am 1) r in love with Johnny Depp and think he's so hott all of a sudden, if it wasn't for that movie most teen girls probably wouldn't even know who he is

just bugs me to death:mad:
