View Full Version : The Ultimate, Epic, JoBlo versus IMDB Thread

Gordon
07-23-2007, 08:20 PM
I was such a huge fan of the IMDB Top 250, it was crazy. Recently the entire list has gone to shit and become total suckage. So I'd like to attempt something to spark my curiosity for just how much better the people voting over at JoBlo truly are.

I want everyone to give me their top 10 lists, in order. Once enough people have given me their lists I am going to make a JoBlo Top 250, (With the order being determined by your #1's being 10 points, #2 being 9 points, etc.) At which time we will take out all the films that are on BOTH lists, and battle the films left on both lists.

All of the latter portions will be properly explained, of course, when we (I) get there.

For now all you need to do is give me ordered top ten lists. And depending on participation I'll be going from there.

*I am aware of the "Forum Top 100" thread.

Gordon came on earlier and said this thread would be bumped because of the lack of posts. But ever since then it has gotten like triple the amount of posts. I hope he continues with his original plan. Joblo should NO DOUBT have a top films list. NO DOUBT. And keep it realistic. The Simpsons movie just passed like the Sting and a bunch of classics on IMDB. what?!?!??!!?!?. I have faith in joblo that if they made a list....it would be the best...or atleast most accurate and fair list the internet has to offer.

Oh and by the way...no list is perfect. Everyone sees things differently but it would be fun to have a list that is atleast controllable. Imdb's has become a downright joke. I know some of you may agree with this and some dont but Return of the King has over 13,000 1's. I dont care who you are and how bad you hate LOTR...Return of the Mother Fucking King is not a 1. And guess what ...thats a fact.

39 lists * 10 = 390 NOT INCLUDING REPEATS.

I could put Norbit on my list and it'd get on. So at this point I'm holding out for more votes. Without a doubt this thing will get finished, I just want to give it it's proper time.

And as much as I don't like LOTR (sorry), I have to admit having many conversations with people that give 1's, even when talking about movies I didn't like, when trying to explain production value, etc. bumps it from a one - they've always gone a little something like this. If you're worried about the number of responses or having to bump this thread, perhaps change the thread name? I only came in here because of the lack of any other topics in here but if you had something like "every-one's top 10 here" it might get more of a response? Only a suggestion because what you're doing is a geat fucking idea

Why don't you have The Lord of the Rings trilogy on there or do you desperately need to change your favorite movie in your profile?

This post is my own personal marker for my rough list I'm doing right now. If you're not me, this post doesn't mean shit.

Have a nice day.

Having almost finished the list, my computer restarted, and I lost everything.

Every post that comes in the next 12 hours will anger me beyond belief at the reminder of what happened. So please, for my sanity, hold back your lists.

I might take a few days before trying again, also.

Sorry this took so long to get done. When I have some free time this weekend I'll try to do it.

However, I am starting up a website, doing some school stuff, working a job, and in the middle of writing something. So if I break my promise, my excuse is already lined up.

Unacceptable! You disappoint me as well...j/k. I know what it's like to have your computer piss you the fuck off.

So, to help Gordon out a little bit, I started tallying the votes. I'm not all done, about half way, but it's looking like the number one movie (so far) will be Pulp Fiction by quite a bit.

Looked to me like Lord of the Rings.

Anyway, let me add my top ten list, and see if I can get some nice volunteers to help me out with this. Not because I am a lazy shit or anything, but as it turns out my processor that I was planning on using to sort shit out no longer works.

It very well could be LOTR (I hope it is, anyway) but that was the last time I had counted the votes and like I said, it was not all of them; i had only gotten through about half of the pages.

Well the real question is whether or not you were assigning point values or not, A crazy lot of people came in listing each one as their number 1, 2, and 3. Other then those people, not a whole lot hand it on their lists. But because I was counting the higher number as worth more, it really swung the score that way.

It's troublesome to have to list the trilogy as 3 seperate movies, and take the two bottom movies off the list, but oh well, c'est la vie.
