Yeah, this is a shock of course as with any death. I haven't seen much from him, but from what I have seen - I thought was great filmmaking.

RIP.

It is so terrifying. He was one of my favourite filmmakers and having read his biographies i so much digged him. Rest in Peace.

I was getting a Bergman a film out every week at one stage and every single one I loved. I eventually got so obsessed I hired 7 out in one hit. Not the most uplifting week of viewing but certainly one of the best. I always wondered why Woody Allen worshiped him so much. Now I know.

One of the real masters of cinema. A shame, though he did live pretty long I guess.

For me, Easily the saddest director death in cinema since Kubrick.

There are no words to describe the pain in my heart when I heard this. He lived a long and full life, but there is always that great shock when I see a master of film leave. R.I.P. Ingmar. You, nor your films, will ever be forgotten, but they will live forever in the minds and hearts of film fans the world over.

As a huge fan of nearly all of his films, this is truly a sad day, but at least I can look back at the indelible works of art he left behind.

I watched some interviews with Bergman from a few years back on my Fanny & Alexander DVD. He seemed like a happy guy who was pleased with his overall body of work and his life in general. Despite the painful subject matter of some of his films, he got to do what he loved most for a living. I also admire the way he retired early, so he could enjoy the good things in life you can't always film. It's stupid for me to act like I know, but I think he died a happy man who lived a fulfilled life. Rest in Peace.

I haven't seen much of the man's work, but his effect on and importance in cinema can't be denied.

R.I.P. :(

I'm sad, he did live a very long time though. Rest in peace. One of the best directors of all time. I'm sure woody allen is having a hard time with this.

One of my favorite directors. This is a very sad day. I will be watching my favorite Bergman film (The Seventh Seal) tonight in his honor.
