... and thats just cuz my right one is too good for them.

im getting sick and tired of CC advertising exclusives to their stores, wheher it be release date DVD exclusives like Bonus t-Shirts or DVD's, and then when i get t6here, guess what.. THEY DONT HAVE THE STORE EXCLUSIVES.

They advertise something in their weekly ads, a dvd i have been wanting to pick up for a while will be on sale for a decent price, so i will go to CC on the SUNDAY that the sale fucking starts, and guess what THEY DONT GOT IT.

The store is a fucking JOKE! They never have ppl running the front registers, their set up is ridiculous.

and the thing that REALLY pisses me off is:

over at the DVD TALK forums there was a dude, Speedy, who would post the sale ads for us, say a week early. So that i could know what places would have the new dvd's for cheapest or some old sale prices on dvd's i have been wanting. C

Circuit city hired lawyers and had it to where he can no longer post these sale prices on the internet.

thats fucking stupid... if CC had a nice price on DVD's i would go there... and more often then not, they of course wouldnt have what i was looking for, or simply their ad would be a bold faced lie and the exclusives they had listed werent in existence.

FUCK CIRCUIT CITY

i will never shop at your store again, i hope others stop shopping at your store

and i hope that the Lawyers CC has hired see this thread i have posted and get that, not only do they suck at life, so do the people they work for. I hope CC goes belly up in the next few years, and Best Buy, Target and even Walmart take huge shits on what used to be their competition!

Holy shit, this rant is so timely for me.

I hardly ever go there, but this past Tuesday I got a whole bunch of DVDs because they were on sale.

When I walked out the store, I noticed they overcharged me $6 on one the DVDs they had advertised for cheap. Problem is, I was already in a rush, and I shouldn't have been in there in the first place. So I just said, "Fuck it" and left.

Got home later, opened up another one of my DVDs (Disturbia, in this case), and the case was cracked on the edge. It wouldn't even close properly.

This was enough reason for me to go back, but I still wasn't that annoyed.

Walked in the store, and the only available check-out register was at the return station. (Is that normal?) After about two seconds of dealing with a customer, the only employee manning the register left while people were still in line.

About five minutes passed, and one of the guys ahead of me started shouting, "What the fuck!? I've been standing here for 15 minutes! This is ridiculous!" When still nothing happened, he threw his huge bundle of DVDs onto the counter and stormed out.

I'm actually getting irritated just talking about their bullshit, so I'll skip to the chase...

+ Three more people put their items on the counter and stormed out.

+ One guy trying to deal with a pick-up or something found one of the employees and started making a big scene, shouting and cursing like crazy about how because they fucked up, he's been waiting there for two hours.

+ Finally, a guy came to the register and apologized to me for the wait. (Notice he apologized to me, since everybody else in line had already left.) He told me to go grab a new copy of Disturbia while he added the money I was jipped for the other DVD back on my card. I get back, and there's some sort of problem. I don't even know what, but it took another ten minutes to work it out. Unfuckingbelievable. Seriously.

Ugh. Fuck Circuit City.

I really should've just done "price match" at Best Buy, but I forgot they did that. Oh well. Now I've learned my lesson.

They never came back.

Neither did i.

Wow, this just happened to me the other day.

I went to Circuit City last Saturday and I wanted to purchase a copy of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind because it was on sale for 3.99.

I went to the DVD section, which sucks by the way, and went to the E's. I saw the movie and it was marked for 9.99 WS and 14.99FF. I figured they either A) hadn't changed the price yet or B) the sale was over. So I looked around for someone to help me, and nothing. Noone anywhere. Whatever....

I take the movie to the cashout and the lady was just being rude as hell. The movie rings up as 9.99 and I politely asked "Wasn't this one of the movies that was on sale?" No joke, she literally picked up an ad from behind her, slammed it in front of me, and said "I don't know, is it?"

I was like WTF?!?!? Are you serious, so I had to turn to the sale page and show her that the movie was on sale. She then goes onto bitch at me about how FF and WS DVD's are marked in their store, something I had never heard of before. (I know Best Buy and Target don't do that)

So anyways, I have never had an enjoyable experience at Circuit City. Their movies are often overpriced and the people there are just dicks. Unless it is a deal that I absolutely cannot passs up, I will go there. But otherwise, fuck them!!

Yup! Same movie, same situation! That's so fucking annoying, because it means it wasn't just a simple pricing mistake.

Normally I would've noticed before walking out of the store, but I bought like 15 DVDs and was in a rush. Argh.

Why should I have to double check what I buy to make sure it's the right price? Shouldn't it be the store's responsibility to do that?

I cant remember the last time I was in a Circuit City, or Best Buy even for that matter. What I do is take the Sunday ads to Wal-Mart with me and price match there. Saves me a trip out of town, and Wal-Mart usually has the same shit both stores do and I actually save even more cause like I said im not going out of town so the money I save is actual money saved because im not spending it on gas or anything.

You guys might wanna look in to this. My main reason, other than saving the trip, is because I got so tired with the way those 2 stores did stuff I just quit going.

Circuit City has been a joke for some number of years now. Almost always overpriced, unless they are running a rare special. Beyond terrible customer service, probably some of the worst in America.

That probably has something to do with the fact they are losing millions now because they can't compete anymore. Best Buy is pretty much the only electronics store that isn't in the red.

Best Buy Rulz, Circuit City Blows Donkey Cock...

Besides their aforementioned high prices and horrid customer service, I stopped going because everytime I'd look at DVDs some employee nearby would have some hip-hop garbage with a beat blasting my eardrums out while I shopped. You're supposed to be working, fuckhead, not having a party...

The thing that really gets me about Circuit City is that I am fooled by their Sunday sales catalogues. Many of the Dvd sales they have are actually really good and lull me into their store. Then I remember how awful of a setup they have. Not only are the movies rarely alphabetical, but they are stacked on top of each other so you have to go digging behind entire rows of movies to browse, which isn't the end of the world but is still a pain. Also, this past week they had a 3.99 sale on a lot of great movies. My cousin and I get to the store to look for these movies and they have all been haphazardly thrown into a giant bin. So in order to browse, we have to compete with the hoards of other people and sift through the bin, looking really pathetic and overcome with greed in the process. That store cannot last much longer

I don't think I've ever bought a DVD at Circuit City; I've been in one when my Dad wanted to get some, but I stick to Best Buy 90% of the time. They've never let me down.

Indeed. They always seem to have people ready and waiting to check me out. I rarely have to wait.

I most be in the minority here because I've never had a bad experience at Circuit City. The last time I bought anything there was when I bought the soundtrack to the new TMNT movie (Best Buy was out and FYE was to expensive).

Maybe it's the location but the one here in Columbus Ga, is usually pretty well stocked and the only time that there have been any long lines have been during the Christmas season, day after Thanksgiving sale or during Georgia's Tax Free weekend. I tend to go to Best Buy more because they have a better selection of Horror Movies and 80's Cartoons, but now we have MovieStop and they've got everything and are usually cheaper than both Best Buy and Circuit City, plus they do specialty orders too.

I do think that when I compare the service of the four main DVD stores in Columbus, Best Buy, Circuit City, FYE and MovieStop. Circuit City has the least informed, Best Buy are very professional but not to knowledgable when it comes to the movies, FYE most of the employees know more about the musice and video games than they do about the movies, but at MovieStop; there is generally someone there that knows about specific movies and about specific genres too.

I do prefer Best Buy but only because they have a better selection of horror films. If it comes down to a more popular film that I know CC will have I have no problem going there though because they always have things super cheap. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I actually had a very bad and very good experience at CC. They were having a sale on Prison Break: S1 for 20$. It was the last day of the sale. I had just netflixed some of it and dug it, so I went to buy it. Of course I couldn't find it. I spent maybe 30 minutes looking before I tagged an employee to help. The computer said they had 5 copies so he offered to help me look. The dude sifted through their three rows of shit for 45 minutes with me before another employee overheard us talking and said the five copies were gone. Loved the employee( he must have been a member of the old guard) but god that store was fucked up. I ended up driving across town(about an hour with traffic) to go to the next nearest circuit city. I called those fuckers and made them grab it for me and hold it in hand before I made the drive. It became a fucking mission.

Best Buy on the other hand has a very easily searchable filing system and the employees are just as helpful. Well at least this one employee is who always seems to be there when Im there. I swear were on a first name basis now with how much weird shit hes helped me with.

theres this lady and my circuit city, she has done everything she could do to make the customers find what they want. shes also there when i go and she knows who i am already. i sometimes dont have a problem to go there if shes there because she does help people out

but then theres this bitch that works there, she knows me as the guy who priced match a dvd there once (stupid mistake)

so i was price matching family guy v.3 at circuit city from target
i didnt go to target because they were sold out and the nearest place was circuitcity and i didnt have the ad on me. so she said she couldnt price match and i told her they could call target for the price.

she didnt do it instead she checked the price online and i told her that the prices online are sometimes different from the prices in store.

i told her instead look at the ad online. she said no that she was going to look at the price online

the price online was 24.99, i demanded to speak to their manager (i wouldnt care for 5 bucks, but this bitch got on my nerves).

the manager said that the price he could give it to me was 24.99 and i began to tell them off.

until he said do you want it or not and i said ill take it
so i took it for 23.99 because they discount some percentage off it.

i walked out of the store, taking the bag out of the bitch's hands and walked out of the store.

couple of weeks later i went in there again to buy jay and silent bob strike back for 5.99 was going to match price from bestbuy (didnt have time to go to bestbuy). she said there was one more copy, so i went out to looked for it for about 20 min. came back and told her if she could check where it was for me. with an attitude she said comedy, i told her i checked there and it wasnt there.

then she said well if its not there its somewhere in the store, feel free to look for it.

i got pissed, walked out of circuit city anytime i go in there i just ignore her and find somebody else to help me out.

FUCK CIRCUIT CITY AND THOSE STUPID EMPLOYEES (LIKE THAT BITCH)

I've never even been into a Circuit City. I think the nearest one is in Minneapolis.. which is about 100 miles from here. Plenty of Best Buys around though, and I have never really had a problem with Best Buy. I will avoid Circuit City from now on though because of this thread though.

One time I went to get the Dawn of The Dead Box Set they had in the ad priced for 17.99. I couldn't find it, asked someone, they looked and it was sold out. The guy told me sometimes they'll put sales in the paper just to get rid of things, and that some stores won't have it because they are already sold out of it.

I really don't like going to CC, the location isn't the greatest to get into near me, and the DVD section always looks like a mess. And everytime i've gone in there, I had to go to customer service to buy what I wanted. No one is ever at the cash register.

My Circuit City story happened in Lafayette, IN with my friend Chad who was about to get a HDTV. After getting a ton of bullshit from the employee who tried to make us believe he knew what he was talking about regarding getting all the right cords and modulators, we told him we were going to look over at the Best Buy (right down the street). We also told him that the price on the TV was just way too high.
Well, once we mentioned we were going to look elsewhere, he started getting defensive and a little pissy. Right as we got to the door, he ran up to us and said "I knew that price wasn't right! Someone put the wrong tag in the slot in front of the wrong TV" Then he proceeded to show us the correct price, which was just above average of what that television should have cost.
We politely nodded and said we'd think about it and left, picking up the TV at Best Buy anyways.

We went back for DVD's a couple weeks later and saw the same TV with the same, higher price. So I'm just kind of guessing all appliances and electronics have the "mistaken" price that's higher and they'll only give you the standard retail price, which looks lower, if you threaten to go somewhere else.

Needless to say, it's pretty pathetic.

I never go to my CC. It's absolutely disgusting. The workers are nasty, stupid, and completely unhelpful. I can't even tell you how many times I had to argue with them because they were telling me that "no 2-disc Harry Potter came out" or "there's no unrated version of that". Frustrating when you know your DVDs so well, and you have to teach the employees something.

When I was price matching the 2-disc Harry Potter there last year, they kept telling me that they couldn't give me the 2-disc, because it wasn't the one pictured, when there was the huge "2-disc special edition" banner going across the top.

They have attitudes, and like someone else said...their registers are never opened, and you always have to go to customer service...where you're waiting behind 1,000 people returning things, and all you want to do is buy one friggen DVD.

If they have an exclusive, I'll go to one out of state (yes, mine is that bad, that I'll actually go out of state for good service), and if there's no exclusive, then I'll price match.

BTW, does anyone else's CC keep new releases behind the counter? It makes it incredibly frustrating at mine. They have virtually NO knowledge of the new releases, so asking them for one when you get up to the register is always an adventure (and usually an argument). Plus, if you want a DVD that's not in the ad, or not a mainstream release for that week, it's always fun trying to explain to them what you want.

I went there for Tru Calling: Season 1 waaaayyy back when it was first released, and it was in the ad. First, the worker asks me if it's a DVD, CD or video game (even though I said "season 1"), and then flips to the video game page and tells me "it's not in here". We flipped the page to show him that it was in there, and that his uneducated ass was on the wrong page. Then he says he going to look for it, and comes back 30 minutes later (I kid you not). Before he could even say anything I said, "Do NOT even tell me you were missing for 30 minutes and you couldn't find one." Of course, that was exactly the case. What was even more frustrating is that he said that they did have it, he just couldn't find the box.

Grr....that rant felt good. Thanks for listening. Since I'm a chick, CC can't suck (or blow) my nutsack, but they can certainly kiss my ass :D

Today, yet again, I was reminded of why I LOATHE this store.

Against my better judgment, I stopped at the local CC to pick up Ocean's Thirteen ONLY because a) I happened to be in the same plaza as the store anyway and b) I remembered my wife mentioning that they were selling the DVD for $14.99. But I was more motivated by the first reason than the second - going to my faithful Best Buy or Target would've required my going slightly out of my way to the nearby mall.

Long story short: it took me a few minutes to find the frigging movie because CC's media section is so incomprehensibly merchandised, and then I ultimately ended up NOT buying the disc because the associates felt chit-chatting with fellow workers was more important than, oh I dunno, doing their fucking job by checking me out.

So I trucked on over to the mall and bought the two-disc exclusive edition from Target for $24.99. So, now once and for all, I say, "Fuck you, Circuit City. Fuck you, and fuck your misbegotten, deadbeat employees. I wouldn't venture into one of your stores again even if you were offering The Godfather Penultimate 40th Anniversary 30-Disc Edition* for FIVE BUCKS. You assclowns are really dead to me now."

Same case with me. Whenever a new DVD that interests me comes out, I make a beeline for Best Buy. Not only will they usuall have what I'm looking for and at a reasonable price, they also have a FAR nicer layout and ambience that Circuit City. With the Best Buy near my hometown, it's obvious they put some effort into making it a pleasing and efficient place. Circuit City looks like they just made up the layout as they went along. They stacked the movies here, CDs there. Never bother to clearly mark the exit door--I keep trying to go out the wrong door EVERY time I go there. Often, none of their aisle registers will work and I have to walk over to Customer Service to get rung out.

Working in retail myself, I can say this situation isn't always the employee's fault. If they're walking around and there's long lines, cashing might not be their job. They can't just hop on a register and go. I get shit from people all the time at work when there's long lines and they see me walking around. They assume I'm just doing nothing, but I'm actually cleaning up after them (the store doesn't fix itself).

But with that said, Circuit City does suck. :p Their set up is ridiculous. The one near me has 2 registers; one of which is NEVER open and the other is rarely. The only place to ever cash out is the service desk. I've waited nearly an hour in line there sometimes. I have to feel sorry for some of the employees that work there who have to put up with shit that's out of their control, but personally knowing someone who works there, I can safely say they also hire their fair share of assholes. They also never have things in their ad papers. This is why I gave up with them a few months ago. I usually stuck with Best Buy for the most part unless there was something cheaper at CC, but now I don't even do that.

I feel so at home here... I clicked on EvilHenchman's link from another page and just thought this was fantastic! An ENTIRE board of people who hate (or at least dislikes) going into their local CC! I have had sooo many problems there and for some reason, just like an alzheimers patient, I look at their Sunday ad and see some flashy crap and walk in on Tuesday and walk out spewing obscenities to myself. The last time I was there was the day after Death Proof came out (Wednesday), I went up to the "New Release" 4-way and didn't see it. I start to walk through the store and can't find it, so I ask someone for help. Without even taking one second to think about it the lil (brat) said "That hasn't come out yet, try back later." I noted that it was in the ad and asked if she was sure about this, to which she replied "That was Grindhouse, and it was a misprint, it doesn't come out 'til next week." At which point I walked out, went to my trusty BB, picked it up, hugged my cashier, and thanked her just for being there and left. So far so good, ever since then, they haven't received a dime and I am just a happier person!

After reading through all of these posts, someone who hasn't been through the experience might be sitting there saying that we must be exaggerating . . . until they venture into a CC themselves. My local CC is no different than everyone else's who have posted thus far. That is, it's downright horrible. The only time I have ever seen their actual checkout register active is on black Friday. There are usually a handful of employees goofing around behind the service desk, but in no rush to check anyone out. Employees on the floor are useless. When I ask where something is, I'm looking for a little more than "In this section over here". I know where the DVD is supposed to be dumbass, I need you to start doing your job and find out why it's not where it should be. It seems like their store layout is setup to drive people away since it is increasingly difficult to find what you're looking for. This makes the floor employees even more crucial, which we've already covered. Needless to say, I never go to CC anymore, I just pricematch at Best Buy because I know I'll be able to find what I'm looking for and if I can't, I'll be able to get assistance. It's a shame this chain has turned downhill so fast, and even more surprising that they haven't realized it.

Sidenote: My Wal-Mart has been trying to "upgrade" it's store, trying to compete with Target no doubt, but in doing so they enclosed all of their DVD shelfving in those metal/glass door cases normally reserved for the expensive video games and iPods. My guess for this move is that they've been losing too much merchandise to theft, but as a result, they've also lost me as a customer because I need to be able to actually pick up and look at the DVDs. And their new format sucks even more because if there is something you want to look at, you have to try to find an employee that has the key to open it up and then they stand there hovering over you while you look, so you you feel rushed. I've pretty much said screw it and only go there for the main new release during the first week when it is out on the display. After that week, in the case it goes. Anyone else's WM done this?

I have this fantasy that the grass is greener on the other side and since we have no circuit city I always feel left out. And you guys go ruining that for me.

I have been in a circuit city it was in Vegas the store was huge but the media department was by the I hate my Fucking Customers section or something. Maybe it was the Music department or car stereo's or something but some jackass thought it would be cute to play really loud rap music with a base that vibrated the floor right next to the media section. Its really hard to shop when the store gives you a migrane and makes you want to go homocodal and kill everyone in the store tell you find the jackass who is causing you such pain. I left empty handed because I couldn't take it anymore.

they also had a huge Best Buy like across the street so we went there instead.

Now I love my Best Buy as its so neat and organized but I just wish they had built a bigger store. I live in a town where they build everything so small then regret it in like 3 years (except for walmart those fuckers are huge). I mean when they built it they had all this land and could have built a massive one instead they built like the oopmpa loompa sized one. So now we got a Roberts Crafts, Kohls and Bed Bath and Beyond where my Best Buy should be.

Also I have been frustrated with Target lately, they have no selection but movies released in the last years. They are great for new releases but if you want any kind of selection good luck there (I have noticed if you are looking for an older dvd and can't find it at Best Buy, Smiths is the place to go and how sad is it that Smiths a grocery store has a better selection of dvds than Target).

And you must avoid Wal-mart finding a dvd there is like fishing with dynamite. They don't have one dvd section they have like 12 all randomly placed around the store. Fuck alphabetical too everything is organized by the price. Excuse me Mr Walmart employee I am looking for Rambo, oh did you look in the 5.50 dvd section oooh wait maybe that's in the $9.44 section check produce I think it might be next to the carrots. Oh and they have these bins where I think its like hey we don't know what the fuck to do with these dvds they send em to us and we really don't want to have to mess with them so hey lets get a big metal bin and throw them in there and maybe if someone is drunk enough they will fish through that fucker with some scuba gear on and find it.

Don't mind me its 4:30 am, I have been throwing up for an hour and am waiting for my pepto bismo to take effect and just felt like rambling while I waited. Ooh look someone sent me a private message.

I completely agree with everyone that says that CC sucks. Going into Circuit City is like entering the 7th Circle of Hell. The ones that I have been in are always layed out in a circular pattern...that is, you walk in and customer service is to the right and you have to walk by MP3 players, computers and car stereos before you reach the DVD section. The weird thing is, it's exactly the same no matter which direction you go in...

Their selection always sucks and their employees are completely clueless. It reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Stewie asks an employee about a fax machine: " Choo put in a piece of paper with a peetcher on eet and call your friend, and he gets a piece of paper with the same peetcher! (imagine this said in a Spanish accent and it makes more sense)". I'm pretty sure it was a parody of Circuit City.

When I bought my laptop last year I went into Circuit City to find what I wanted (because it was closer), then I drove to the next town to Best Buy where I actually bought it.

Maybe it's just me, but the female employees at Best Buy are WAY hotter...:D

Plus BB has alot of nerd employees'. So thier people actually know about movies and computers and other electronic stuff. Where the CC closest to me has alot of white-boy thug types working there. They know alot about ICP and Eminem. But thats about it.

Around Halloween CC had Monster Squad for $6.99 in thier ad. My sister went to get a few copies. The employee said they had copies in the back. So 2 employees went back to get the dvds, but never returned. My sis waited 20 mins. and then just left.

My local Best Buy is slipping as far as DVD variety goes. We jus got a local Target. Their DVD selection is awful. They got nothing except new stuff.

About five minutes passed, and one of the guys ahead of me started shouting, "What the fuck!? I've been standing here for 15 minutes! This is ridiculous!" When still nothing happened, he threw his huge bundle of DVDs onto the counter and stormed out.

+ Three more people put their items on the counter and stormed out.

I dont understand this part, the customers who came back to return their items just left their items on there and left? Forgive me for my ignorance, but is this common in america or something? I'd want my money back. Lol

No...as it was explained earlier in this thread, usually in CC the only counter you can find that actually has someone working at it is the Customer Service/Returns counter. I don't think I've ever bought anything at CC that I didn't have to go to this counter to pay for my purchase.
