I believe Rocket Science is opening up this weekend in very select theaters. I really don't know if it will open wide, but if its near you please go and see it. I saw during Sundance and was a favorite of mine. Its a quirky coming-of-age high school comedy. Its extremely well-written, funny, poignant, and surprisingly does not have a neat and tidy ending. This is on par with Rushmore and better than the vastly overrated Napolean Dynamite. Please go see it.

My acting teacher is in the film, so I'll definitely be going to see it. Thanks for the good word, Chinton.

Yeah, when I was coming out of Stardust from there today, I think I saw one of the evening showings sold out. :)
BTW Chinton,
Are you a Film Independent Member?
There's a screening of 3:10 To Yuma at Arclight for those Monday night. I'm thinking of going. James Mangold is going to be there.
(I'm not an FI member, but I will do my best to sneak in since reservations are not required :D).

No I'm not. How are you going to sneak in. Aren't they going to notice you're not a member?

See, that I haven't actually figured out yet. :p
Do the check membership ID? I was thinking I'd just flash them my parent's AFI membership card, but that probably wouldn't work lol. :D
I only live five minues from there so if I get rejected it's no biggie.
You thinking of following my lead?

I'm sorry Backstabba
Dman when is the screening. Also, I think you would more luck than me. At the very least you have a card even though its your parents I have no card. Still, thats a tempting offer to try. I really do want to see that.

7:30 - Monday - Arclight.
And yeah, I apologize to Backstabba at least once every time we chat, lol. :p
Haha, I have a card but it's not even a film independent one.
Just for some reason, I don't think they'll be very picky.
I emailed them asking about it, but they haven't responded.
I really want to try it as well, that's why I'm thinking it might be worth it.
I'm hoping they e-mail me back on Monday...I'll post here as soon as I get the news.
Maybe it'll save us a trip, or maybe it'll give us a journey. ;)

It looks like I may have to work late tommorow, but hopefully I can swing by Arclight. Anyway, if you do manage please remember to put up a review.
Oh and is anyone else seeing Rocket Science. Surely there's more people here that live in the LA area.

I saw this a few hours ago and it was nice little bitter sweet reality of life flick. It's funny and at the same time the characters had no problem making me care about them. I haven't rooted for a lead character like this one for awhile. I know these eccentric styilzed type movies have been getting a bit played out with the surge of them after Napolean Dynamite but this movie is well worth the trip down an allready well worn path. Now wheres my cello... I've got some anger issues I need to deal with.

I loved it at first but think it was missing something or maybe I just didn't understand the main character nor think he was very interesting. I would like to see it again because I love these kinds of movies but I would not rate it anywhere near Rushmore, though its better than Napoleon Dynamite. 7/10
