View Full Version : Flavor Flav is Roast Worthy?

I can't belied they roasted this talentless fuck. How do you go from Rodney Dangerfield and Drew Carey to Flavor Flav? The guy is a reality show star for Christ's sake and what's worse, his shows are on VH1!

The highlights of the show were the veteran roasters who while coming up with some good insults were far tamer than usual.
The Andy Dick bashing was sorely missed this go around.

The icing on the shitty cake was when Flav rambled on incoherently, ending with him calling Jeffery Ross a racist(in all seriousness) although his jokes were no less racial than any of the other guests(black or white). Of course considering his connections to the Nation of Islam it's not tough to see why Ross was the only one singled out.

I think all of the roasts now basically suck. Most of the time, they're looking for someone who wants to be roasted by a bunch of no-names. So . . . I'm not that suprised that Flava Flav was roasted, considering his "position" in today's entertainment industry.

I was a little surprised myself. I tuned in for about half an hour and had gotten a couple of laughs from Jeff Ross (which I always do) but overall I'm just not as excited about these as I was when they were roasting Drew Carey, Jerry Stiller, and Rob Reiner. A couple of years ago they roasted Pamela Anderson and now Flavor Flav? Seems like they'll roast anyone. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

If nothing else, Flavor Flav is ripe for ridicule.

It should be noted that this wasn't a New York Friar's Club Roast; the last one of those I remember Comedy Central airing was for Drew Carey. Everything since then has just been a Comedy Central Roast, which carries the same basic concept but with more obscure personalities and sleazier jokes at everybody's expense.

For anyone who missed the Roast last night, here's a rundown of the recurring themes:

Katt Williams is tiny.
Patton Oswalt looks like a child molester.
Bridgitte Nielson has a huge vagina.
Lisa Lampanelli fucks a lot of black guys.
Jimmy Kimmel has an inexplicably successful TV career.
Carrot Top is a woman.
Ice-T is old.

I myself laughed good 'n' plenty, though Kimmel's "Chris Benoit is a better father than Flavor Flav" line was really pushing it.

I don't think this moment was quite as serious as you make it out to be. First of all, FF was clearly joking when he made the remark to Ross, which was made all too clear when he quickly segued into the famous line from PE's "Fight The Power" (which Ross chimed in on). "...motherfuck him and John Wayne..."

That aside, Comedy Central's roasts are fast becoming as tiresome as VH-1's umpteen "Best Of" shows that feature all sorts of has-beens and never-was, never-will-be celebrity types cracking funny about stars who are infinitely more famous than they themselves ever will be.

Did you keep watching when the show ended? Jeff Ross was standing right next to Jimmy Kimmel, Flav went over to shake his hand then completely ignored Ross. He probably used a P.E. song because he thought he was being witty.

The only good thing about Flavor Flav's roast was Jeff Ross.

He could use a swift kick in the ass, though. How do you go from being the best hype man in the world for the world's leading hip hop act to neo-minstrelsy? At least Chuck D hasn't sold out...

No, I missed that moment. I can see then why you'd come to that conclusion about Flavor Flav's remark.

The Good:
Jimmy Kimmel
Jeff Ross
Patton Oswalt
Greg Giraldo

The Iffy:
Carrot Top
Lisa Lampanelli
Snoop Dogg
Ice-T

The Bad and the Ugly:
Flav
Brigette Nielsen
Sommore
The Chris Benoit joke (Way, WAY over the line and I love all types of jokes and am very rarely offended)

The Denis Leary roast was/is the best of the CC Roasts. They seem to be going downhill more and more every year.

I think Comedy Central is purposely getting F-Listers to roast (it makes for funnier jokes). I actually thought everyone was pretty funny except for Brigitte.

They should roast Pauly Shore next. They would have a field day with him.

Ugh. They didn't focus enough of Flavor Flav. It's kinda sad, though, that Chuck D isn't the most famous one in Public Enemy even though he's the one with the most talent.

Yeah, I agree. This dickhead can't get off the screen fast enough for me.

Yet I still laughed at the roast. Probably because he wasn't talking most of the time.

I did stand up and applaud, though, when Jimmy Kimmel said if Comedy Central really wanted to stop polluting the airwaves then they should cancel Mind of Mencia. I hope this will allow Comedy Central to wake up and realize that is a horribly unfunny show.

lol... Zing! Pauly's just a lucky mama's boy who never would have gotten a break if his mom wasn't the owner of the Comedy Store.

As for Flava Flav, the guy was never anything more than a hype man. Everybody knows he was riding the coat tails fo the more talented Chuck D... can't wait. I'm gonna get to see Chuck D perform at Rock the Bells this weekend! Fuck yeah.

Call me a heartless prick, but I thought the Chris Benoit line was one of the best of the whole night. Jimmy Kimmel, Greg Giraldo, Jeff Ross, and Patton Oswalt all had me rolling. The roast gave me a pretty good laugh overall, though not all the roasters were great (Brigette Nelson anyone?). And, this maybe a little prickish too, but the whole show I really wanted a spotlight or something to fall and take out big nasty Lisa Lampanelli, what a horribly unfunny woman. And, come the end, I personally thought that Flav was really pissed at Ross, and I also noticed the aforementioned snub Flavor gave him during the closing credits....eh, who knows what was really going down. Not Snoop, because he's way fucked up.... something he didn't fail to mention to just about everyone they showed him running into on camera :D

I thought Lisa Lampanelli had some of the best lines of the show.
"The Flavor of Love girls are here, aren't they great? They look like the 3:00am shift at the Waffle House in Jacksonville North Carolina."

its actually: "They look like the 3:00am shift at a jacksonville florida waffle house."

I still laughed my ass off when I heard it though.
I also like when Geraldo said something about Kat Williams to the effect of:
"Pimpin aint easy, especially if you have to stand on phone books to smack a bitch."

These "roasts" have gone down hill lately...

I remember on Tough Crowd Colin Quinn and Dennis Leary (who produces the roasts I believe) were talking about how Leary was supposed to Roast Quinn, but they decided on whoever the fuck else they've been roasting all these years. I won't watch these shit ones but if they roasted Quinn I'd watch and probably buy the DVD.

I didn't think the roast was bad. Flava Flav is part of one of the biggest hip hop groups in history aside from being on those reality shows. But ya, if you are offended by anything whatsoever the last thing you should watch is a roast. There are no rules at a roast. The Chris Benoit line was so messed up and uncalled for that i could not help but laugh out loud. Just cause I could not believe he said it lol. But i thought it was a funny roast... not the best.... but it was funny.

But he was roasted for his reality show star status, not for being a hip hop icon. That and probably because they couldn't find another moron to sit in the chair.

Here, here.

I think Comedy Central should roast Carlos Mencia.

...

Like literally, roast him alive.

You know, I really truely genuinely miss the good old days when fame and fortune were rewards for hard work and a strength of talent. It seems the farther the world slopes into ''trash media" the more we see people who are god honest dumber that smegging rocks being given all that the material world has to offer. It is absolutely obscene that a person who can't run a fu**ing washing machine (Paris Hilton) is given record deals, movies parts and loads of other priceless opportunities when there's so many other gifted youth out there with actual artistic talent and something to offer. Now we come to Flavor Flav, admittedly I think his antics were funny more a nano-second when he first resurfaced but good God! You've been dressing and behaving like a cheap sideshow attraction and haming the same routine since I was in middle school and somehow the moron public still tunes in to laps it up like a dehydrated dog. Hey man, if you can play the game and make money then good for you, it's no crime but I'm aching for the days when people will snap outta this "reality show, Springer" bullcrap and focus on true art. Things that are ground breaking and that show some imagination. Until that glorious day we'll have to settle for people paying good money to stand in a crowd just to hear "yeeeaaa boyeee"
