This is not the first time it happens and it's bugging me a lot. My local rental store carries a couple of good anime series and all but 2 series don't have the Volume 1. I mean ... WTF ? What the point of renting volume 3 & volume 7 if you don't carry Volume 1? I mean , it's not because it is rented by someone else. The casing is not even on the shelf and the dvd isn't in your database. You just don't have it grrr !

Why would I be interested in watching Hellsing volume 5 if i don't know what happens in volume 1-2-3-4 ?Same thing with the Fist of the North Star serie, they have Volume 2 only. Whose the wiseguy that thought " Hey ! Let's offer the Death Note anime serie to our customers .... but just volume 3-4 , not the others"

Then you complaint about low rental of Anime and don't want to order new ones because you'd lose money on them. C'mon . Start by offering a wholesome product and maybe people will be interested to watch them. Who would rent Robotech #8 and #11 only ?

My 2 cents

Even when the preceding volumes/seasons aren't available, the store still gets money from people who have seen those episodes and can watch what they do have available. Still, getting volumes they don't have should be a priority.

Having used to work in a rental store what most likely happened is that at one point they did have those vols. But over time they got ruined, stolen, lost, or just not returned. Once that happens there is really no point for the store to spend the money to get a new one, since they most likely won't make their money back from the rentals.

It happens all the time with older movies, its just not as obvious. Instead of leaving behind proof in the form of messed up vol. order, people just wander around saying "Didn't they used to have such and such".

or people drove over the disks with their cars, you would be surprised how often this happens, some schmuck rents the movie puts it on the top of their car as they get in and forget about it and proceed to drive over it.

But then again we had owners who were on crack they'd order like season 1-4 and then stop or all of a sudden decide to order somethign we had never carried before, like we had South Park season 6 but no other season of South Park

i've noticed this whenever i go into places like Blockbusters, i've also found it's the same for a lot of shops, i always see Volume's 2/3/4 or some random jump upto 6 or 7 for something but rarely ever volume 1, i've always found it rather bizarre
