What the fuck Blockbuster? You just changed the one thing people liked about your product...

Netflix is better (and cheaper) than BBO now. Blockbuster recently started ripping people off by increasing their rates for "unlimited" in-store rentals. Problem is, their system in-store still doesn't know how to keep track of your in-store limit. Therefore, a ton of people are getting turned away from their in-store swaps because the system is wrongly accusing them of hitting their limit.

Anyway, BBO also has a janky system in place that skips items that are available in your queue if it has to ship it from more than a state away...for faster service.

Anyone else switching back to the glory of Netflix? :p

...and this is why I never left the glory of Netflix. She has yet to do me wrong, and until she does I will remain faithful.:D

Service price hasn't changed for me...yet. I'll probably cut off my subscription next month, though.

Being an employee of Blockbuster (which isn't bad, excluding asshole customers), they basically fucked theirselves over by raising the price of the online program, the movie pass, and even the prices of their films from 3.99 to 4.29. But I can see why they had to do it: they lost a shitload of money from the online program to begin with due to the in-store exchanges, coupled with the fact they had a snack card program going on from May to July. But they should have decided to do the price change earlier than they should, maybe before they had sales goals directed upon the online service. Thanks to the sales goals that most districts went on, the online program had a boost in sales, causing the company to loose money from it. The only idea they could think of was bumping the prices of everything in the store and it's the programs, instead of taking a logical step.

To make matters worse, I heard they were getting rid of the free coupon as well.

I dunno, Blockbuster is just fucking theirselves over. I bet in about a year most of the stores will shut down in order to save the company more money anyway, and I'm pretty sure my store will be shutting down in Janurary.

I used to work at one as well. (w/Tai Mai Jew)

So, I'm glad to see someone who views them in the same way. Basically, I had BBO because there was no reason not to have it if you rent movies on a regular basis. Now they've just muddled it for no reason.

They've made the basic package of three DVDs out at a time for $17.99 crappy by putting a limit of five in-store exchanges with the program. To get unlimited in-store swaps, you need to shell out $25 a month...still only getting 3 sent to you at a time.

They've pretty much made it so that Netflix's 5 at-a-time is about equal to their basic package.

I have no idea what they are smoking in the bathrooms of their main offices, but it's not value. I can tell you that.

I always thought the store trade in thing was a stupid idea.

That's why I'm getting them by mail.

I don't want to go in your stupid store. Nor do I want to take that movie BACK to the store. This defeats the purpose of movies by mail.

Not necessarily. If you don't want to watch or don't want to finish the movie you ordered, you can immediately make up for it by trading it in.

But I still couldn't care less about Blockbuster Online. I doubt it has as massive a collection as Netflix. Hopefully, this increase in rates will help stop it from running Netflix out of business, as most people only seem to care about seeing the newest movies anyway. I guess that's a kind of selfish desire, but there can't be that much of a difference for those who apply.
