Does anybody get the feeling that no matter which Halloween movie we think was the best, Rob Zombie's Halloween may leave them all in the shade?

I don't.
It's possible that I will really, really enjoy the new version of HALLOWEEN, but it's going to have to be something really, really cool just to come close to the original HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN II for me. Those two movies are two of my most favorite movies.

The two first Halloween movies are a couple of my faves too and its hard to think of them being bettered..but from what i've seen of the new Zombie version it looks as though it will be something really special..By the way,is the 31 August release date worldwide? as i cant see it scheduled as a "coming soon "at any of my local cinemas

I don't know for sure if the opening date of August 31rst is worldwide or not.
You're right, this new version could be really something. I won't be surprised if I like it more than all of the HALLOWEEN movies made after HALLOWEEN II.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have to wait until October for it to be released in the UK.
EDIT: 19th October seems to be the UK release date.
I've been completely on the fence about this film since it was announced Zombie would be directing it, i love House of 1000 Corpses and The Devils Rejects and part of me really want's to see this, the other part hates the idea of a remake. ive pretty much stayed away from any of the teasers and trailers so what's in it will be fresh when i see the film.
As for it being better than the first 2, or even 3 Halloween films, i'm not expecting that to happen but considering how much i loved his other films i think i might end up liking this.

October 19th, that's my birthday. :D
And, if I remember correctly, Michael Myers birthday, according to HALLOWEEN RESURRECTION.

This should unanimously be the original Halloween.
Other than that, I really enjoy Halloween 4.

Im gonna be shot for this but i enjoyed h20 and zombies version the most, sorry.
I didnt grow up with the original halloween so to me, after seeing the sequels before the original and the original being so old it didnt scare me at all and felt bland.

I have yet to see Zombie's version of Halloween, but from what I have heard it didn't live up to it's expectations. That being said, even if I end up enjoying it, I doubt it will even come close to topping the original or a few of the sequels. In terms of quality I've heard Zombie's Halloween is getting about 2/5 rating from people I've talked to who have seen it. The rest absolutely hated it. I have yet to find a single soul that absolutely loved it.

Looking back, I can admit I thought it would be good. In retrospect, let us forget this cinematic blunder and stick with the classic.

I loved it... Thought it was great... Of course it's not better than the original, but it's a damn good/brutal fucking flick, all the same!
As is often the case with film series, the first is the best.
For the record, the remake was better than I expected.
My least favorite of the series is #6, basically because of how they treated the character of Jamie Lloyd(hence, I was happy when Danielle Harris declined to be in it).
I will also say that #3(the night he didn't come home:D)has grown on me over the years.

the remake was okay. I liked how it showed michael as a child more. they changed so.. much though. Halloween(original) is one of my favorite movies of all time. they only spent like $325000. which is extremely low budget. but it was so successfull. nothing compares.

As we all know now, this is not true, at all.

Rob Zombie's Halloween was lame. I was all for it in the whole prequel stage of the film, but when the "re-imaging" started up the movie fuckin sucked. They should have just stuck with the idea of doing a prequel IMO. And the best Halloween to me has always been the second one. Most underappriciated sequel out there.

I also favor the sequal. the hospital setting worked great. I think it is one of my favorite sequals. It is hard for me to choose between 1 & 2. i loved them both. Although i think that they could have done better on resurrection. and halloween III had nothing to do with michael, but i still found it to be a good movie.:)

Who is this pointed towards?
I am not a fan of any of his work. Rejects was ok, much better than Corpses, but still not a great movie. He has great direction, but his writing is aweful.
