Yeah, sure. The acting was NOT good. The plot was weak, and mostly, I had a big problem with casting. I mean, what are the pretty boy and the pretty girl doing in the army?! If I had known the army had such babes, I'd be volunteering right now.
But overall, it wasn't as bad as almost everyone makes out to be. I think it's biggest disadvantage is that it will always be compared to the awesome remake by Aya. On its own, tho, I'd give it something like 6 or 6.5/10.
I think disappointment played a great role in it's being so unfavorable amongst horror fans. Maybe seeing it with very low expectaions helped the movie in my case.
All in all, there are much, much worse stuff out there to take out our anger on.

we really liked it! not an absolute classic but still a great horror movie, the kind you want to watch when you crave a short non-complicated slightly corny horror flick!not a patch on the Hills have eyes remake though!

It was a weak sequel, but I agree its not as insanely bad as it is made out to be. I can see why some people may not dig it but I didn't see why it would be labeled among the years worst...

I gave it a 6/10, because it is a competantly made film. The shots all make sense and the movie flows with a beginning, middle and end and thus passes the basic "does this movie work as a movie" test.
However, the characters in this are much less fleshed out than the ones in the first one, and personally I found it annoying that despite these characters all being in the military that they were such wimps. Half the time I thought the characters were all little teenage girls instead of actual military personal. Also, I hated how this movie's mutants all looked way too similar. You didn't really care for the mutants this time around.
Another bonus, though, was it had a decent amount of gore... And being a gorehound that made the experience slightly more enjoyable than normal. I was rooting for the mutants to kill the annoying characters.

I had low expectations when watching this and it managed to be worse than i thought it would. The acting and characters are both terrible and very annoying, the soldier that found shitman especially ended up irritating me. That was also the funniest part of the film, I couldn't stop laughing when shitman appeared. The plot was weak but that wasn't a surprise, and the direction and look of the film would have been more suited to a straight to dvd movie (that didn't bother me though, just shocked me that it made it into theatres). I don't remember much gore in it though but that could have been down to me being distracted by the shitty acting and characters.

The "Black Christmas" remake was bad (* out of 4). This was just barely average (**).
The only thing going for it was *some* good action, violence and gore. There's no doubt about it, the the acting wasn't the greatest, the script wasn't brilliant, the pace dragged at times, and if I recall correctly, some of lighting may have been too dark as well. It was okay to see once in theaters and that's it.
It's a shame, the sequel to the surprisingly decent remake (**1/2) of the bad original (*) could have led into any direction. Instead, it was just this. If you must see it on DVD, you're better off renting first.

It had a sliickkk, SLICKKKKKK teaser, though.
Remember? With the Devendra banhart song?
Big letdown, either way; nothing could have topped Aja's FANTASTIC remake.

I thought it was just really boring, the characters were all hateful assholes, and for a supposed action/horror film their was no action or horror to speak of. The gore was pretty weak when compared to the first one as well. Their was absolutely no tension as well. Plain and simple, this sucked ass. The Black Christmas remake is at least fun to laugh at, this doesn't even give you that opportunity.

It wasn't all that good. It wasn't scary or intense, the acting sucked and it wasn't all that violent. I didn't mind it, but it just wasn't a good movie.
5/10

Isn't this the one where the dog has a flashback (of shit he wasn't even involved in in the first film, no doubt!)?

Thats the original sequel (sounds so funny)...I remember watching that one when I was like 10 or 11 and thinking how ridiculous it was and how bad the transer was, too.

Just watched it. Probably a 5-6/10. I loved the first movie and genuinely cared for the family but in this one... not so much (save maybe one or two characters.) It's not as bad as everyone says it is, there's a few decent kills/gore sequences, but that's all it really has going for it.

I was suckered into thinking this looked good just because of the use of a Devendra Banhart song in the trailer. That was a cunning marketing ploy.

I gots to believe for me it's a 6/10er too. Not nearly as good as the first remake, which was GREAT, but decent.
You gotta love the make up in these movies. The best part by far.

Oh, definitely, great make up. Unfortunately I felt the make up in the sequel lacked compared to the original mainly because I had lots of trouble telling one mutant from the other, where as in the first one they made them each very clear and distinct in personality and looks.

Excellent point. Also, the baddies in the original remake (strange words to put together!) where more menacing.

It was bad, not the worst film ive ever seen but i just didnt remember anything about it after watching it.
It was just a weak film with weak acting, a weak plot, weak gore and weak scares. The ending was terrible as well.
Ill give it 4/10 for some ok action bits.
The first remake however is one of my all time favourites now, 10/10

Let's not forget that this movie had a sillier scene than anything in the remake. The one guy who crawls out of the toilet. What in the hell were they thinking with that one? Man I hated this movie but then again I have already stated that several times on these boards. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I agree with most people, I disliked almost all of the characters, the only character I cared about and wanted to live was Missy, the rest I did not really care about.
