Mmmmmm... shrooms. What's hilarious is that this movie is being released riiiiiiiiiiiight around picking season here. :D:D:D:D

Remember BLUE SUNSHINE? I got so pumped when I heard about it, cause I thought it was just about people who took acid that drove them fucking nuts. Turned out to be a bit of a let down.. still alright.

This seems to be WAY closer to what I had expected out of a drug/horror movie.

I can't remember the name of it offhand, but wasn't there a decent movie a couple years ago where about 5 late teen stoners were hangin' out in this house over the weekend? One of the male leads is like "the doctor" or something and disperses all the goods from his little "kit" bag. I can't remember what happens exactly but I do remember it gets tense.

I have seen a few really gorey drug movies over the last few years. There have been some that I had to just squint and bare it to get through. Seems like one was called the Jack Hammer Murders or something. Mostly about speed freaks n tweekers.

Of course the ultimate (I say in jest) in social and recreational toxification is the great and noble effort, Street Trash. What was it those bums were throwing around anyway? :p

Saw the first 20 minutes of this, off of a bootleg. I will watch the rest sometime. It's alright so far, but what really caught my attention is how great this movie looks. It has a unique look to it which I really dig.

You're thinking of Cookers and Jackhammer Massacre, respectively. :)

Shrooms is definitely top notch. It played like a really oldschool out back slasher, even down to all the mess starting when the smart-alec stock type tells a ghost story around a campfire.

It had great style, the writing was fun - ten bucks says Arrow laps it up like carpet pie. It's DEFINITELY the kind of movie that he'd like..

I'd compare it to Night Of The Demons, or ROTLD.

(i know, not much of a review.. I'm tired).

Just finished watching this and loved every minute, it's a lot of fun, the direction is great, the acting is excellent and it's got a pretty good script too. There's not a lot of blood/gore but it really didn't need it, some cool camera effects as well.

Much better than I was expecting.

9/10

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon 7/10

Fun movie! I love how it spins around from comedy to horror; the comedy works well most of the time and so does the horror. Also, the direction's pretty solid, going from the documentary style to normal cinematic style. Leslie Vernon is a fascinating character and it was pleasure spending 90+ minutes with him. Except for Nathan Baesel and Robert Englund, though, I wish the acting had been stronger.

Lord of Illusions 8/10

Whoa! Very cool movie overall as far as story and execution. Yet it left me just a little flat after the credits rolled. The problem, I realized, were the characters. I didn't feel much sympathy for Swann, and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to or not. It's more than the actor's fault; who Swann was was hard to get a handle on. But I felt more sympathy for Valentin most likely because the actor was excellent. More important is D'Amour. We're given virtually nothing concerning his back-story, and without that, I felt there were a lot of questions left unanswered. Such as, what's so special about him that he gets involved in these sorts of thing? Scott Bakula did solid work and makes D'Amour a likeable, clever guy. Too bad he and Famke Janssen (who gives a solid performance) didn't have much on-screen chemistry, even though they did look very good together unclothed. Nix, however, is fantastic. What a great horror villain!

Re-Animator 9/10

This was the real treat of the evening. Another mad scientist movie I really enjoyed (that makes it three mad scientist movies in the past five days - weird co-incidence. Actually, I tried to watch Revenge of Dr. X but it was so bad that I gave up on it, something I very rarely do, which tells you how really, really bad that one is.) I loved Jeffrey Coombs from seeing him in something else, and he's just wonderful in this. West is a terrific character, mad but not completely villainous. I enjoyed how the plot keeps twisting so that you never where the story is going next. It's so imaginative and outrageous that it's pretty much the perfect B-movie.

man oh man am I'm surprised at how entertaining this movie was. It's just really really good. I can't really thing of any flaws, except it's a bit too short. Still a good old time, and this is coming from a person who's like "ARGH all new horror movies eat penis and horror movies have been crap since 1996!". so yeah, this along side Flight of the Living Dead (aka Plane Dead) are fucking great movies that any horror fan should see. they are so far the best horror movies that have come out this year. I give this movie 1000 claw points.

p.s. blue sunshine and street trash are brilliant pieces of cinema.

Didn't like it at all. That gal just kept falling to the ground, having some sort of vision then something bad would happen. Too repetitive for my taste. I kept fast forwarding through the damn thing. The only good thing about it was the twist ending.

I respectfully disagree... the only thing I didn't like was the foreseeable "twist" ending.

I checked it out, not knowing, or expecting too much, and actually really enjoyed it... cleavage... for what it was. I don't know, but there was something... cleavage... subliminal throughout the movie, but I just can't... cleavage... put my "finger" on it.

Overall for me, a solid, enjoyable 8/10... cleavage...
