View Full Version : No Grindhouse DVD Until JUNE 2008?!

I read on VideoETA (http://videoeta.com/movie.html?via=form&id=73394) that Grindhouse isn't due out onto DVD until June of '08. What in the world is up with that? I didn't get to see it in theaters and now I have to wait a whole damn calendar year to Netflix it?

Why?

Well, you've got the two separate features, Planet Terror and Death Proff, coming out separately in September/October, so you could get them both and do your own little improvised Grindhouse screening in your own home. But it is certainly quite reassuring and good to know that the real, full version of Grindhouse will be available in its complete form eventually, even though it's like a year away.

yeah exactly. i don't think you could buy Pulp Fiction until a year and half after it was in theaters. nowadays people are just so use to the DVD coming out a week after theaters.

I'm glad to hear the theatrical version is getting released.

It'd better be worth the wait.

hopefully it will be a release that is worth the wait . i didn't get a chance to see the movie in theaters and am not sold on the idea of buying both films stand alone, since they are meant to be seen together . if they pull all the stops and make a great package (like the Sin City douple dip) then i'll for sure grab it then :)

how reliable is this source? i mean, there really isn't any info about it other then "Estimated for June 2008"...

That's a good question. I did a quick Google search and couldn't find any other information regarding a special edition double-feature release.

It does make total sense for them to release both in one SE package, but as for the June of '08 date, I don't know. VideoETA has always seemed reliable to me, but it normally has exact release dates.

I wouldn't be suprised if the "complete" version sells more than the two separate ones combined.

If this is true I'll be waiting until next June.

I'll wait for either MisterChristian or REALDVDARTIST to confirm this and if true I'll get just this and not the seperate releases.

So we are, all of us here, not knowing of any future dvd releases confirmed for a fact(or a really sure rumor) except for the upcoming single movie releases?

Well they just lost a sale as far as I am concerned one of my favourite movies this year and breaking them up defeats the whole purpose and honestly neither of these films is worth it seperate release.

I am this dumbass who bought Death Proof and Planet Terror DVDs and will buy the Grindhouse DVD!

And I hope that it'll be realese!

But it's could be because (I know somebody said it in that forum) on disc 2 of Planet Terror Robert Rodriguez confirmed that the Grindhouse DVD will be realese and said that it'll include "10 minutes on shcool: Texas Barbecue"!

It think that Robert is a good man so it'll be so bizarre if he was lie!!!!!

If it's on normal DVDs, the official Grindhouse release would most likely have separate disks for the two movies. That's only marginally better than owning the two movies individually, in my opinion.

I was going to crack and buy the single versions.... but when I heard that the Robert Rodriguez cooking school feature was going to wait for the real Grindhouse DVD set, I had to wait. I just hope whatever he cooks up is as good as the Sin City breakfast tacos.

Did you have the ONCE UPON... MEXICO "puerco pibil"? Oh man, that shit is DIVINE. I just made some last weekend for my sister and bro-in-law.

I watched the breakfast burrito video, but it doesn't appeal to me that much. However, after having that pork last weekend I was reconsidering that recipe. And now that I read your post about love for the breakfast burritos, I'm going to DEFINITELY take a look at it tomorrow or Saturday. :)

I'll probably just stick with the version I have. If I want to see them together I will just play them back to back. When you consider that I got Death Proof in the buy 1 and get 1 free deal and I bought Planet Terror for 9.50 I can't feel that bad about paying 9.50 total for them. I'm sure the Grindhouse collection when it comes out will be very expensive.

Okay I am getting so pissed off. Why don't Tarantino and Rodriguez get their head out of their asses and just release it in the U.S already. I mean jesus christ!

i don't see why it matters, you have both of the atrocious movies out already, so why does it matter if they are packaged together? As a Tarantino fan, i'd be more upset of the ongoing delaying of The Whole bloody affair compared to this travesty.

The U.S. DVD release of Death Proof doesn't. I haven't seen the Planet Terror DVD though I would assume it lacks the trailers, as well. Frankly, the fake trailers themselves would be the main reason I'd buy a new Groundhouse DVD.

Um. Yes... this is the SAME as the Japanese 6-discer, but this is the 6-discer for North America as well. Do you see Japanese text splattered around the packaging or discs? Of course not. Everythings in English. Notice the region image? Notice how the disc specifies "JAPAN BONUS DISC"? Meaning, the bonus disc that JAPAN got, and now we are getting? It would be pretty dumb to type the country on a bonus disc... of course unless you thought the customers were dumb enough to forget where they lived. You don't see "US BONUS DISC" typed over our releases, do you? NO. But if we get a version of a film that was previously only in another country, then it is sometimes labeled "JAPANESE CUT" for example.
