i know ther is a thread on this some where
im just mad as hell about this hot fuzz SE i just paid $20.00 for the single disc and now a 3 disc set comes out. these companys need to let people know that a SE is coming out so people dont have to dubble dip. this is why im scared to buy any dvds nowdays i know as soon as i do a better version will be released. this has to stop im missing out on to many bonus scenes and features
greedy ass bastards make me sick

This initial release then SE a few months later thing studios seem to be doing now is why i never buy films when they first come out on DVD anymore.

same here, unless its a movie that i have to have as soon as it hits the shelves i never buy DvD's that aren't some sort of special or collectors or anniversary editions, and even then usually not unless they are on sale.

Well . . . the SEs don't suck, but the studios delaying their release. This does get on my nerves too; it's happened a few times with Unforgiven, Pulp Fiction and a few others. I've been able to get rid of most of the bare bones editions, but some others are harder to get rid of. It's annoying.
And I want the 3-disc Hot Fuzz. I'll probably get it anyway.

best buy. it was the ultimate versus its a steel box with three discs. it has a cool insert that tells about all the bonus features

I used to be compulsive. It started with double dipping tapes and CDs ("Oooooh...an unreleased bonus track! I've gotta buy that album again!") and then I started doing it with DVDs ("Ooooooh...a 15 minute making of documentary and 10 minutes of deleted scenes! Where's my wallet!")
But I finally realized I was just wasting my money. Most of the extras I watch once and that's it, and it's not worth spending another $15+ on just to satisfy my completionist fetish.
The only reason I'll double dip now is to replace an older non-anamorphic widescreen DVD with one that is anamorphic. I've gotten to the point where all I want is the movie on a good transfer.

Ah i see, here in Canada that would probably be $50-$60 but i'll have to lok into it and i can understand about the case thing i guess, i have a weakness forthe metal cases they just look so cool. I've got 4 mvoies wiht them and i didn't buy the movie cause of the ase, i would have owned it was i not poor lol but seeing a metal case edition of it made me finally get around to buying them ;)

yeah, our dollar isn't doing too bad atm so it might be cheaper but at the big box stores like Furture Shop and Best Buy they prey on the publics general lack of knowledge of things like econimics lol. But if its something like Versus then its considered an Import which for some reason always makes it higher then you'd think it should be. Hell i'm pretty sure the regular version of Versus in the white case was like $45 brand knew.
I would download movies but i would need to find a burning program again cause i forgot which one i used to use after i formatted my computer. And i watch DvD's on a PS2 and its iffy about burnt content unfortunately.
