Quite possibly the best movie ever.

I love giant monster movies and all, but my god are those some shit special effects!

Well, that's the best trailer i've seen for this so far, actually makes it look like it could be entertaining. I'll see it since i love dragons but the effects were mostly pretty shit.

This movie looks so fucking bad. The CGI monsters are the only thing in the film I can imagine anybody caring about, yet they look horrendous. So it doesn't even have that going for it.

Looks like your typical "Sci-Fi Channel" original crap. I'll pass.

1) For all we know, the special effects could be a lot better in the finished product than presented in the trailer. Has been the case for some movies in the past.

2) If number one isn't the case, they should have waited ten years before making this into a movie when special effect will be better.

3) This is reminding me of "Godzilla/1998" a lot, even though I'm not a hater of that movie. I was at least 13 then. I'm not anymore.

4) Ads start popping up within a week and half before release. Usually not a good sign.

I actually want to check this out without doubt...mildly excited because if its not a good time at the movies,it'll be a great time with how cheesy it is...win win situation. I heard it had a budget of around $60-70 million, in which case, its got no hopes of making that back.

Still I do plan on checking it out in theaters, just doubt anybody else does. I smell another Sound of Thunder.

I might see it, but I haven't heard many good things about it. I did hear it broke records in Korea though.

Special effects are fine now. Haven't you seen Reign of Fire? That movie was pretty spectacular and the dragons looked great in that.

Actually, the dragon in Eragon and 1996's Dragonheart looked fine too.

The problem isn't today's technology. The problem is the movie looked liked it needed a bigger budget.

There is, however, another possible answer. Perhaps the movie's effects are INTENTIONALLY cheesy? Personally, that is what I think. That's the general feeling I get from watching commercials.

Looks like an entertaining film for children with awful cgi and like its trying to be godzilla, I think It looks not worse than transformers.

The cgi doesnt look that bad to me. I dont know why people keep saying it looks terrible. Sure it aint what I would call convincing, but it looks passable. I want to see this, it looks like fun times.

Dragons are so ridiculously lame. But, if this ends up being so bad it's awesome, I may see it.

d war will change your life....not really, but if you have nothing else to do and want a good laugh and can see it for free then go right ahead. not much to say about, what you see in the trailer is what you get.

Or this movie will be amazing or a total mess. This kind of movie always falls in one of these two opposites.

I believe that this movie was financed or done almost entirely by South Korea (which I also read is a big hit over there too). Still looks like crap though.

That explains it then , i'll give the visuals a pass since i enjoy just about anything that comes out of that country ,. Now i know , it's supposed to be cheesy , should be a fun movie .

When i first saw this trailer, i had a feeling it was going to look like shit, but destruction of cities, and monsters(dragons) looks fun as hell.

Also, if people are calling this move a bust and looking like shit, i suppose those who wrote off this movie are writing off 'Cloverfield'? '1-18-08'? (Whatever name it is)

Cloverfield looks GOOD, Dragon Wars looks BAD.

Clear difference.

Its practically the same thing. Monster destroying the city.

Yeah, they're both just movies with people talking in it...

same thing.

This looks like standard a standard effects splash...Cloverfield looks like a documentary type, intense look at the people rather than the creature that effectively builds suspense rather than relying strictly on the creature breaking stuff and blowing shit up as Dragon Wars appears to.

I think this film looks ok, I'm infinitely more psyched for Cloverfield though.

How can Cloverfield look good when we've practically seen NOTHING about it?

Because of what I pointed out about it in my previous post.

To me, Cloverfield and Dragon Wars are along the same thing. One major difference, Cloverfield has a first person camera. What someone pointed out earlier about 'havent seen anything yet' is true. We've only see panic in the streets, and heard a 25 sec sound byte of the 'monster's' roar. Pretty much what ive seen in the D-War trailer. All im saying, if people think D-War is going to blow, what makes Cloverfield an exception? JJ Abrams?

Speaking as somebody who doesn't have all that much interest in Cloverfield, the quality of the execution appears to be much higher than D-War (which looks laughably pathetic - and apparently is).

And yes, JJ Abrams does give it some clout as well.

No, we haven't seen much, but the concept of a monster movie being shot this way is quite intriuiging.

I don't think Dragon Wars will blow, I think it'll be fun, but forgettable.

Wow, ok. Man, that was hilariously bad. I mean its the funniest movie of thr movie of the year. There were so many unintentional laughes in this movie I lost count.

Just wai t till you see Robert Forrester punch out three guys and just walk away. Hilarious!!!!

The cgi was passable, it wasnt completly terrible, it worked most of the time. I also thought there were some cool moments. Im a sucker for big monster movies. I love them, so the sight of seeing a 400 foot snake coil around a building and throw helicopters around put a stupid smile on my face.

All in all a terribly acting, scripted, edited, and directed mess of a movie. But it works ok when there are monsters on screen and no dialogue of qany kind. Think of a really bad Godzilla movie, only instead of guys in suits, just replace them with cgi.

I actually didn't think the acting was all that bad.

The movie was an incredible mixed bag. Sometimes I really enjoyed it. Sometimes it was a lot of fun and with the exception of the ending, the action was awesome. Infact, during the city attack sequence, I couldn't help but think how much cooler this city attack was compared to the big mess that was Transformers city attack sequence.

But the movie is laughably bad a lot too. It's silly, incredibly hokey and just plain dumb. And the ending is TERRIBLE! It's absolutely atrocious. Not to mention utterly, laughably ludicrous and a bit of a cheat too.

It's a shame because I actually love the story of the movie. In different hands this could have been a genuinely great movie. As it is, it's a sometimes fun, sometimes awful, so-so movie.
