I wish for all these lil' girls on their "Sweet 16" show on MTV only two things.
It has been said whenever you're put thru hardship you mature. Therefore, I wish for these lil whores to catch a degrading, but not lethal illness that'll last for a decade. This followed by my second wish, which is for their parents to pass away in the mids of their crisis. Then, and only then, they'll be able to get their sweet experience for the rest of their lives.
Same goes for the blonde skanks populating and polluting the airwaves with shows like "The Hills", Laguna Bitch, *ahem*, I meant, "Laguna Beach", and every other reality show about some mind cursed celebrity. No MTV, I dont care, no, I wont watch it, and no, i cant believe you dont show any music videos anymore. Why call it MTV? When there's no such thing as videos in my TV?

Im now blood thirsty specially since i just heard this, mis-shot-sperm-that-made-in-the-hole, is gonna get a piece of MTV's teens-watching-created cash. Does the executives at this looks-like-Lifetime-evolved network have grown no taste? I kid you not...I already figured out how the conversation went...
MTV Exec *with Army General's tone*: "Hey, did you see that kid on youtube? he's got about 1million hits on his leave Britney alone video."
MTV Exec Assist *with scrumpy geeky voice*:"umm...8million hits...sir."
MTV Exec: "Brilliant!!!...I want those hits...on my network...go get'em for me!
MTV Exec Assist: "right away sir"
MTV Exec: "and make sure you call Kanye and tell him I want him in my office ASAP...my nuts need scratching...scratchy scratchy bitch!!. And...go get me a frosty while you're at it!!! GO!! Do it...do it...do it...do it.....................................do it!"

I don't think I've watched MTV in 4 years. Their's just nothing that appeals to me. I don't really watch MTV 2 anymore either, save for the occasional viewing of Headbanger's Ball.
VH1 is shitty, but at least most of their shows are entertaining in a trainwreck type of way like Fit Club, Surreal Life, Rock Of Love, Flavor Of Love, Scott Baio is 45 and Single, and so on.

The decline of MTV is kind of a sad thing to me. I remember when the network started and played ONLY videos, not all of this other crap that is sure to bring about the end of the world. You kind of got a feeling that the VJs were people you knew and could relate to, because they obviously loved music and were having fun. That feeling is long gone (and has been for years), and is never coming back.
Just sad...

Wait, girls have reached the age of sixteen and aren't mature?
That's absolutely impossible!
What the hell are you going on about? The kids are annoying as fuck, especially in that show ("I'm sawwww stressed out!") but what in the name of lucifer is that rant about? Really, really young girls being immature? Or the fact that there's a show about regular sixteen year old girls?
I mean, what the fuck? This is the most self important (and ironically, naive-sounding, especially for someone who started the rant with "*ignites lightsaber*") rant I've ever read here. They are SIXTEEN YEARS OLD! Sometimes younger! Why the hell is someone so young supposed to be 'mature' by your bizarre standards? They are supposed to be immature! Let them be kids, for god's sake, they're really far away from adulthood.
Frickin' hell.
And sorry if I sound pissed off. But I am, I really hope I complete misread your point. And I apologize in advance if I did.

In my opinion my fellow shmoe...there are two different kinds of immaturity. The kind of immaturity the Shmoes share: fanboy type...and the "Ah my gash! I cant believe i got a Beamer for my b-day...i so wanted a Mercedes....Ah, im so fat, hold my head while i throw up" type.
Yes, I own all the superhero movies that have come out. yes, i own a decent collection of lightsabers. And yes, the sheets in my bed have also lightsabers in them. I've certainly been this way...way before my sixteens. I understand from your point of view this thread may be "self-important". However...
*ignites lightsaber, and points it to X-Nightcrawler's throat*
I still find these skanks (whom, in thier immaturity happen to piss me off so well), incredibly annoying. And i not only blame their parents, but this stupid ass network for forcing its music video hungry audience to watch the immature stage of what you're implying is the stage of an "average american girl". If you enjoy watching these skanks complain why their Rovers have 24 inch rims instead of 25, then knock yourself unconscious my fellow shmoe, eMpTy V was made for you. But, i cannot take another minute of this ridiculous debacle, while people across the world sometimes dont even have a meal to eat. so, i'm doing my share and taking eMpTy V right out of my basic cable, to save me the 5 dollars and buy me a 99 cent Chicken Sandwich, and donate 4.01 to a charity of my choice.
*turns off lightsaber, and pats X-Nightcrawler in his shoulder*
Sorry if i sound pissed off my friend, the fact is i am, because i cant believe a fellow shmoe would ever side with the rich ignorants that Hollywood has the bad luck of breeding, and for our misfortune, MTV knowingly shoves them down our throats showing them in their used-to-be-awesome VMAs as "stars". Think about it...compare your life's worse times and "drama", with theirs. Then and only then...you'll "feel the power of the Darkside."

But I do agree that the characters on these shows give good women a bad name. It's disheartening to watch because the media has humungous control over public consciouness believe it or not. How characters are perceived in films, shows and the like reflect on to how audiences see people in reality, in this case, young people.

Speaking about immaturity. Why the hell are you saying I'm "siding" with anyone? I don't like them, and that doesn't mean I can't dislike you too. Since when did this get divided in two sides?

I'm just surprised someone as mature as yourself would say something as naive as this, that's all. And I'm not referring to the whole "Star Wars" thing you have going on, I agree it's fine to be a goof in the boards. And even througout that entire reply you failed to grab my point. The best of the points. Maybe you can relate as to why they act the way they do. Maybe i didnt act the way they do when i was their age. I see where you're coming from. However, is it necessary for the rest of the world to see what a rich kid behaves with his/her, as you put it, "kid-like behavior"? do you care how i acted on my teens? do i care how you acted? do we care to see how TV exploits their "expected immaturity"? why are they "stars"? is it because they're rich? Because, we're certainly not expecting them to be mature, cause they're young...right? Furthermore, if im ignorant and i've never heard of Television and i realized it existed, and within it a channel called Music Television. What would i expect to see Crawler?...are you getting MY point?

Considering the show is somewhat successful, gasp, some people do care. I personally don't and haven't switched MTV on for years (I actually did an "MTV SUCKS!" rant here not a couple of years ago). No one at my household watches MTV or "Sweet 16".
But no, to answer your question, it is definitely not necessary for the rest of the world to see what a rich kid behaves with his/her kid like behavior. Here's a tip: change the channel. The world won't end, I swear.
But if every immature 16 year old needed a near-deadly disease and their parents' deaths, the world would be closer to ending. I hope not, I haven't met a really 'mature' sixteen year old ("mature for their age", though, yeah, definitely).
And, LOL, you're still not answering my point. Don't, though, I don't care. I can tell from here that you obviously didn't write exactly what you wanted to (since this thing I just replied to doesn't have anything to do with you wishing the worst on these kids), so I really, really don't care for you to, and you probably don't either.

Honestly, that's not even as good as it was a few years ago. They play way too many movies and reruns of Storytellers and Behind The Music. Once Again Music Television is a dead art and you don't really need it anymore with sites like Youtube where you can find practically any music video.

well...i didnt know there was a point i needed to answer. maybe you failed to express that i needed to do so. I wrote everything with a meaning and a purpose, and it logically makes sense to me. So, my anger towards them and the network is, in my opinion, reasonably validated. if you disagree, then my friend...you disagree. You have the same choice i have to browse threads and opinionate about them :). ironically, the same choice we share of flipping the channel. The reason i created this rant thread was to...well...RANT at the fact that these kids inundate the airwaves with their immaturity, and that it clearly annoys me. Why? Because they're ignorant of the world around them, unlike myself and a lot of other individuals i've come to know when we were their age. But not everybody's like us right? right. You see? i know that. Could that be the reason why im enraged? maybe. I just really hope you dont think because they're "teens and kids" that they can be spoiled rotten about their ways. actually, i take that back my friend...i dont care if you do or not, and maybe...just maybe...deep inside "you probably dont either." ;)
in my twisted, absurd, wicked, and jokingly mind still the opinion stands in which if this tragedy were to happen to these kids, then they'll be no different than you and i growin up...would they?

Yeah the schmoes already KNOWS that MTV sucks royally when it started goin DOWNHILL back in 2002-03 with the oversaturation of REALITY SHOWS begun to clog up every timeslot imaginable.
Music videos the core what the network was about got wiped out or moved to what 1 AM in the morning? Even TRL scaled down their top 10 countdown by playing partial of any shred of music vids they were playin. Not everyone has the $$$ to get MTV2/VH1 Classic but then again heard that their alternative sister channels has gotten worse also from what I have read.

I guess the good ol' days in which we could feast our eyes in that good "Freak on a leash" video by Korn, "Clint Eastwood" by Gorillaz, "Thriller" by MJ (cant believe im saying that), and even the excessive T&A from those hip hop videos, are now gone for good. Replaced by the "real-life drama" shows.
How 'bout sueing MTV for false advertisement? Music Television? Really ? c'mon
