What are some biopics you guys would like to see in the future?
Here are a few I would like
Bob Marley
The Beatles
Kurt Cobain (I haven't seen it but I know Last Days is based on him, but I want a real one that shows his life)
Al Capone (supposedly Brian De Palma is making a prequel to the Untouchables about his rise, but that may be complete fiction if its made, though it will probably be sick. And I know that there is old ones but I would like a new one. Scarface does not count.)
Elvis (big screen version)
all I can think of now, sure ill think of more
I was actually talking with someone about this just tonight, and the #1 in my mind, whose life just seems to beg making a movie...
http://www.jeffbuckley.com/rfuller/buckley/images/kfakfaqmain.jpg
...Mr. Jeff Buckley. I can't believe this movie hasn't already been made. As for who plays him, well, I'm not sure (although he looks remarkably like James Franco on the 'Grace' album cover.
I also think Stephen King's life would make a pretty good story (if you don't believe me, read 'On Writing'...or if you're lazy, go to the bookstore, and read chapters 30 & 31 (very short chapters) of the first section of the book, begins with the line "The manuscript of 'Carrie' went off to Doubleday...". Seriously. Tell me that's not great movie material right there.

As a Canadian, I'd like to see biopics on the following:
Billy Bishop - Flying Ace during World War I.
General Roméo Dallaire - UN peacekeeping leader who attempted to interfere with the Rwandan Genocide (there’s a Canadian film being made on him at the moment)
The Black Donnellys - the notorious Donnelly family who were the participants of a vicious community family feud that ended with the massacre of the entire family.
Frank (Dunie) Ryan – an Irish gangster who became more powerful than the mafia in Montreal and who was eventually gunned down by rivals.
Terry Fox – courageous young man who needs no introduction.
And finally, the incredible true story of how the 1972 Canadian hockey team travelled to the Soviet Union and overcame all adversity to beat the feared Russian hockey team.

I am Legend, there was a biopic on Terry Fox...it starred Shawn Ashmore (Iceman from X-Men).

I want to see Sly Stallone's biopic of Edgar Allen Poe done...he wrote it and wants to direct it, I think it will happen soon...the top guys that should star are either Sean Penn, Robert Downey Jr., or Johnny Depp.
I wouldn't mind seeing a movie done about the life of Clint Eastwood...the guy that should play him is none other then Hugh Jackman, with a scruffy look and longer hair he has an uncanny resemblance to the younger Clint.

Elvis Presley
Sam Cooke
Saddam Hussein (although it probably wouldn't be appropriate for another couple decades or so)
Orson Welles
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Paris Hilton (once she dies, probably in the next five years)
Britney Spears (once she kills herself, probably in the next five years)

Thanks, Zissou. I actually saw that movie when it played on CTV.
I don't think it did Fox justice and would like to see Hollywood take a shot with the story on the big screen.

It looks like my wishes for a Salvador Dali film is in the works (with Pacino as Dali). Should be good.

That would make a great biopic. I'd watch it for sure. I've read 'On Writing' too, great book.
How about Bram Stoker for another one?
Or maybe Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Rolling Stones or Queen.
All of the above could be very interesting.
Ooh. Richard Pryor. Yes.

Martin Luther King, Jr. There was a really cool little film called Boycott (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0255851/ ) made for HBO in 2001.
It only detailed the Montgomery Bus Boycott that put King on the national map, but it's a good retelling of that seminal event and it features magnificent performances by the mighty Jeffrey Wright as Dr. King and Terrence Howard as Rev. Ralph David Abernathy, King's right hand man.

It's a bigger deal in Canada, but everybody who loves Hockey knows about this event. It's similar to the 1980 US Olympic team, in that you have the same adversary, but it's also different because the Canadians were all elite NHLers, and thus were on an equal talent and experience level with those fraudulent "amateurs" on the Soviet team.
One problem: who could possibly be cool enough to play Phil Esposito? :D

Che Guevara.
We need a film that doesn't "overlook" the fact that, whatever his intentions were when he was younger, he grew into a ruthless maniac.

Sly Stallone wrote a biopic on Poe? That's gotta be the weirdest thing I've heard all day...
but I'd like to see ones on:
Edgar Allan Poe (starring Jeffrey Combs)
Buckethead
James Joyce
Leo Tolstoy

It's not a straight up Joyce biopic, but (if you haven't seen it), you should seek out Nora, the film about his wife. Ewan McGregor plays Joyce and he absolutely kills in the role.

Elliott Smith- I hear they're making one with Zach Braff (terrible for the role) but I haven't read much into it.
As it's been mentioned, Jeff Buckley would make for a great biopic. Also, Nick Drake. Hell, any musician that died young should count.
Brendan M.

Maybe Whitey Bulger.
Hendrix (I know there is a TV movie but a big budget a descent Hollywood movie would be nice)

Get Zach Braff THE HELL away from that movie. Elliott Smith is a brilliant idea for a film...his music kicks ass.
Walt Disney and Orson Welles would be absolutely incredible choices. I could see the Walt Disney biopic winning the Oscar quite easily. So much magic surrounded that man's life...absolute gold on screen.
Why not Michael Jordan (and don't say Space Jam)

I always hate such comments about Cobain, as if his tragic end erased all his accomplishments and the huge effect he had on music and my generation in particular.
I think he should have biopic because he really was one of the last geniune rock stars. That and the role would be an excellent one to take on; a musical genius, rock star, reluctant cultural icon, junkie, and depressed & tortured soul - and then there was his marriage to the nutty Courtney Love (also another excellent role).
His life was the stuff of greek tragedy, in other words, pure oscar bait.

Pablo Escobar
http://www.pabloescobargaviria.info/fotos/data/media/4//pablo_escobar_fotos.jpg
The most famous and probably the most powerful drug lord to ever live.
A real life scarface if there ever was one. I don't think the upcoming "Killing Pablo" will cover all of his life, just his dramatic fall.
H.H. Holmes
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f3/H.H.Holmes.gif
A 19th century serial killer whose estimated body count goes as high as 230 (!). Holmes was a failed doctor who seduced and killed some women for insurance money and he eventually inherited a hotel which he proceeded to turn into an elaborate murder machine. The hotel was built to be a maze and had air sealed rooms which he used to poison/sufficate people. He then transported the bodies via chutes to the basement where he dissected the bodies and sold the remains to medical supply companies, some were later sold as skeletons for libraries and doctor's offices (seriously). He is believed to have committed most of the killings during the Chicago's World's Fair of 1893. While at first he killed mostly for money (he killed many of his employees after taking out a life insurance policy on them), his crimes became more sexualized and sadistic as time went on - which is something I find interesting, since I think most killers commit sex crimes or have strong dark sexual desires before they kill, not the other way around. At one point he even set his assistant on fire in an elaborate insurance scheme and watched him burn to death. He was eventually caught in a large manhunt lead by the Pinkertons, who have their own sorted history, and was hung - but not before he wrote a very detailed and articulate confession. He confessed to 27 murders, including men, women, & children, but many think the number could be much higher.
This guy's past is the stuff of nightmares and was in part the inspiration of Sweeney Todd (with the murder of customers, murder chutes, ingenious ways of disposing of the bodies). This also serve as a grim crime drama set against the back drop of the world's fair. There was even a bestselling book based on his life called The Devil in the White City. Could be a terrifying biopic.
Serial killers are inherently interesting and I can't think of a more interesting serial killer than this guy. In terms of evil 19th century serial killers, this guy makes Jack the Ripper look like an amateur.

Jack Johnson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Johnson_%28boxer%29), the first black world heavyweight boxing champion (a documentary had been made a few years ago, but I think a bio-pic would be cool)
Jesse Owens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_Owens), especially his time during the 1936 Berlin Olympics and his connection with fellow athlete Luz Long
Queen Liliuokalani (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Liliuokalani), the last monarch of Hawaii

The Beatles
One of the biggest bands ever. Drugs, bigger than Jesus, affairs, Yoko Ono...there's so much to be depicted.
And how about some wrestlers? Like Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels. Both big in the business with a bit of controversy surrounding them. It would be interesting.
And Buddy Holly.
I know he had one done before, but it was so long ago, not all that true to Buddy, and I refuse to believe the only man to play him would be Gary Busey... No thanks.

Just finished reading a book on a famous mobster; Greg Scarpa Sr. This guy's life is unbelievable, I'm thinking it has far too much to fit into one movies though. Maybe a miniseries would better suit.
