Okay, this has bugged me FOREVER.
The "Limited Release" thread got me thinking of this...
Now, I really don't give a monkey's turd about the Oscars... just a sham, with hollywood fat cats, stoking each other off... but that said, I HATE when movies get released in 2 theaters (usually NY and LA) in December, sometimes November, and get wide release early Jan, but are still counted as "last" years movies. I hate it... fucking hate it. It happens every year, and every year, those movies get all the glory... well, most of the glory.
If they're going to keep this strokefest going, then at least make it a little more... sensible. Movies should HAVE to be released in a minimum number of theaters, from Jan 1 to Dec 31, to be eligible. And by minimum, I mean hundreds, NOT 2.
Douche...
