With Ms. Natalie Portman...

Tis called "Brothers" and is set for release in '09.

Heard about it on the daily ten on the e! network. And honestly, it's about time those two kids made a movie where they're related or even a movie together.

It's a remake, yes!

Another thing, I have horrible and disgusting crushes on the three leads. heh.

Good day to you all.

While I admit that Gyllenhaal and Maguire were seemingly born to play brothers, and I of course absolutely adore Natalie Portman to bits, I have two initial qualms with this film:

1. It's not even a re-make of some old, out-dated movie that deserves it; it's a re-make of a VERY recent Danish film which really doesn't seem necessary at ALL.
2. Tobey Maguire is not a good actor at ALL. His most tolerable role was in Seabiscuit in my opinion; Pleasantville was okay because his character matched his acting style. Even in The Cider House Rules he was a bit shaky and in pretty much everything else he's... a problem. Then again, this does have Jake and Natalie and is directed by Jim "I had Daniel Day-Lewis in 3 of my films" Sheridan, so that's got to be a plus. Will have to see how this turns out.

Meh, I'll seek out the original and wait for this to hit TV.

I disagree about Maguire... Maybe I'm just blinded by how attractive I think he is, like a lot of people can get... BAH!

Yeah, I'm not TOTALLY sold on seeing it. After all, '09 is a little ways away and it hasn't started filming even.

I was just a tad happy when I posted originally:D;)

The original Susanne Bier film is a Danish delight...the overly mannered Portman has her work cut out for her here to fill Connie Nielsen's role, and I'm sure there will be plenty of big emotive scenes to capitalize on the fact that everything was put on "simmer" for the original.

Jim Sheridan's a good director, though I'll never understand what he was doing making Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

Dying trying to get rich?

I'm not that stoked about the film, but even as a heterosexual male, I will admit that the title of this thread got my inner woman a little bit worked up. Otherwise, I'll have to wait for the trailer. Sheridan has done no wrong in my opinion, though I haven't seen Get Rich, I don't know that I'll think it was a complete waste.
