After having a chance to be rated NC-17, Beowulf was cut, but it wasn't just cut a little bit, it was cut a fucking lot. Beowulf has been rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence including disturbing images, some sexual material and nudity. I definitely thought it would get an R, but I guess not. There was even a Red Band trailer for Christ sake!

Im pretty sure Zemekis said this was gonna happen a while ago(like up to a year ago). The Pg-13 cut is supposed to play in normal theatres with the Nc-17 playing in either art house, second release later on, or on dvd only.

I expected a PG-13 so I really don't care. Besides, this movie looks like shit anyways.

There is no way in hell this can possibly make money anyway, might as well try for it.

I always assumed it was going to be PG-13... this news that it was ever rated NC-17 is exactly that, NEWS to me. Anyways, an NC-17 rating would have been the tits, but, meh, I'm only mildly looking forward to this movie and we'll probably get to see the NC-17 title eventually so not a big deal really.

Interesting, I wouldn't have thought this would have gotten an NC-17, I was always expecting PG-13 for it. I might check out the uncut version when it hits dvd.

This movie leaves me at a loss for words as to what the fuck happened to Zemeckis' talent.
Where'd it go? Maybe Spielberg just loaned him some and he and can't afford any more.

I don't believe this movie was every going to be NC-17. That's just ridiculous.
You don't drop $150 on a movie that has no chance to make it back. An NC-17 animated movie? I don't think so. And I don't think an R rating was possible either.
This was always going to be PG-13.

This was always going to be PG-13.
Meh... considering they've been working on the billing of "based on THE epic poem of British history" or whatever... an R was definately called for. And c'mon- naked Jolie? They were shooting for hard R at some point.
If this movie had gone from NC-17 to R? Smart move, IMHO. NC-17 to PG-13? Unless this involved lots of money changing hands, this flick has been neutered. Could it still be good? Sure. As good? Definately not.
Also:
If this involves any loss of Jolie nudity (real or animated), I'm boycotting this flick on principle alone. Who's with me?

hmm... thats weird, considering all the promotional material i have seen for it thus far (I.E The Big Standee's in movie theater lobbies) all have an R rating on the bottom of them!
I'll still check it out, as i think it looks interesting, but would have preferred an R... but i guess, an R rating would have most likely ended this flick with a bad box office, PG13 will at least allow more of a wide audience.
Im not all that pissed about this being PG13, knowing an R/NC17 cuz will come on dvd

I don't really want to see the movie anyway, though if it was NC-17 . . . maybe - just out of curiosity: a NC-17 animated movie? Cool.
If there's an unrated, unedited version on DVD eventually, or at my local arthouse, I might rethink the decision, but right now . . . very little interest.

An NC-17 animated movie? I don't think so.

Then again, that was self-applied, so I guess it doesn't count.
Anyway, back on-topic...: I guess the whole R-rated "animated epic for adults" direction this was going in was what had me interested in it to begin with. although I am still intrigued, it sucks that we won't be seeing the full, uncut movie as intended.
