from movie hole

Wow, and I thought calling the movie “John Rambo” was pretty awful already, but now it sounds like Lionsgate is actually thinking about calling the latest Rambo installment the Godawful sounding, “Rambo to Hell and Back”. The change in title news (rumor?) comes courtesy of Moviehole. They’ve always been right about their movie news, so I wouldn’t bet against them. Although I did check the Lionsgate site, and there was no mention of the title change. Well actually, there’s no mention of “John Rambo” on the entire site, so who knows.

The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by a group of Christian human rights missionaries to protect them against pirates, during a humanitarian aid deliver to the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After some of the missionaries are taken prisoner by sadistic Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: to assemble a team of mercenaries to rescue the surviving relief workers.

John Rambo, or Rambo to Hell and Back, or whatever, kicks ass January 25, 2008.

i think it might be to do with how his last movie was called the name as well.

well hello that movie made a very nice sum off money.

'to hell and back' sounds like something a dude in a suit sitting in a office in a studio in hollywood would say to his boss.

What a bunch of shit. John Rambo was the better title but luckily the name has no effect on the film itself which I'm still sure will KICK MY ASS! I think the new Terminator title is definitely worse. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Heh, that's one cheesy title change. 'John Rambo' was a winner, they should stick with that.

Harry Knowles says Stallone called him and changed the title back to John Rambo.

I guess that's good thing.

Good for Stallone.

The "Hell and Back" was simply retarded.

Holy shit, nerds actually won a round. Excellent thing. "John Rambo" is a much better title.

It should be called "Motha Fuckin John Rambo".

That's all.

I actually agree here. Let's look at past films:
Rambo: First Blood (why not just Rambo?)
First Blood Part II (how dumb is that?)
Rambo III (oh so now we're just going to Roman numerals?)

Now what makes the most sense next:

John Rambo- A coming-of-age story of an older man trying to get it together despite his age.
...or...
ASS-KICK McRAMBO-MAN: NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST IN VIETNAMESE PRISON CAMP HELL IV- The story of a bunch of massive explosions and grotesque eviscerations that also includes some guy doing some stuff when he's not blowing up people of some foreign race who all talk some weird other language.

You've got it wrong. The first one was just "First Blood." Then came "Rambo: First Blood Part II."

As for the new movie, both titles suck. Why not throw out Live Free or John Rambo while they're at it?

"Arrow in the Head" has some more about the name change, as well as possibly more Rambo flicks:

Meh I find the title to be identical to the new Rocky movie... despite the different names of the characters. Rocky Balboa, John Rambo. That's the only thing that bugs me about the title.

Forget having a good name. That plot sounds like something out of Walker, Texas Ranger or The A-Team... !Three Amigos! if you want to be optimistic.

Does no one remember when Rocky Balboa was being made and everyone was whining about how terrible it was going to be?

Whew!

JOHN RAMBO was the much better title. Im glad they are sticking with that.

I dont care if the plot sound generic, its how well its acted to me.

From the trailer, im excited as hell, and this is coming from someone who thought it was gonna suck balls when first announced.

The new ROCKY movie being my fav in the series aside fromt he first also gives me hope.:)

Me neither. I was just happy to mention !Three Amigos!. :D

This won't be the sort of movie where plot is important, IMO. However, I will say the first Rambo had a kick ass plot.

You mentioned Rocky Balboa (which I just caught about a week ago - loved it) and that plot was pretty iffy on paper, but I think the emotion and mood are what Stallone's movies are about. I'm sure he'll capture that with this one. Something I've learned over the years, is that Stallone is a smart guy. He knows how to work an audience.

If that's the case then this could actually be the most violent movie ever. I believe Rambo III has a reputation for being the most violent movie of all time. 200 bodies and over 100 acts of violence... something like that. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.
