Halloween: 10/10, classic horror film that single-handley reinvented the slasher genre, Psycho was first, but Halloween stands on its own as well.
Halloween 2: 8/10, underrated sequel, that is acutally a rather worthy follow-up
Halloween 3: Season of the Witch: 1/10, horrible movie, even though genre favorite Tom Atkins stars in this one, also a very sadistic attitude towards children.
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Meyers: 5/10 not bad, loved that the filmmakers were smart and brought back Micheal Meyers, and Ellie Cornell and Danielle Harris have great on screen chemistry, but still enough is enough.
Halloween 5: Revenge of Michael Meyers: 3/10, Donald Pleasance sleep walks through this one and collects another pay check. What the fuck was up with Danielle Harris having some kind of psychic link with Micheal, the Carrie subplot has gotten old friends.
Halloween 6: Curse of Michael Meyers: 2/10, at least a young Paul Rudd was in this one, watch the producer's cut, it at least deserves some merit.
Halloween H20: 5/10, even the return of Jamie Lee Curtis can't save this drivel, Michael Meyers invades the set of Dawson's Creek and thanks to this movie the world is subjected to Josh Harnett's godawful acting.
Hallowen 8: 2/10 Busta Rhymes trying to act and Tyra Banks has a cameo, enough said.
Halloween 2007: 6/10, not too bad, liked the whole back story of Michael Meyers, but that Scout Taylor Compton bitch annoyed the hell out of me (wished Michael would have buried a butcher knife into her juggular.)

I have been watching the whole series again for like the hundredth time. But I haven't posted in this thread, odd. My opinions seem to have changed the more I watch the series, but for now this is my views on each movie.
Halloween - 10/10 What can be said that hasn't? It really brought horror into the mainstream.
Halloween 2 - 8/10 I actually find this to be scarier than the original, but the story needed a little bit more work. I am sure we could find mistakes here and there, but for the first sequel to such a great movie, it turned out great. I am still curious as to what the finished product what have been if Carpenter directed the whole movie.
Halloween 3 - As a Halloween movie 4/10, if standalone 7/10. This isn't a great movie by any means. It doesn't work as a Halloween movie. If this had been called Season of the Witch, I am sure the reception would have been much better.
Halloween 4 - 9/10 Bringing back Michael was a great move. Jamie is one of the best characters created, and usually child actors annoy me, but Danielle Harris was great in the role.
Halloween 5 - 6/10 I actually like this movie. My biggest problem is that it seems like there is a movie within a movie. If this hadn't been rushed, it could of turned out great. There are many good stories going on, but not fleshed out.
Halloween 6 Theater version - 5/10 I like this movie, but there are so many problems with the movie, that we could discuss for days.
Halloween 6 P-Cut - 8/10 Much better than the T-Cut, but still a lot of problems. This version is paced much better, but with the T-Cut version, the final 15 minutes is still a little off. You care more about the characters here, and you can fell the script is trying to be better than it is. The problem is the director.
Halloween H20 - 6/10 When watching this movie I never get that Halloween feel. It is too polished with no real grit to it. I don't fault it for going more towards the Scream feel, but it doesn't do anything to be more.
Halloween 8 - 4/10 The worst in the series. They had the perfect Michael, an ok start, but then what? The idea isn't bad, but it doesn't work in this series. This series is about Michael going out on Halloween and stalking people, mainly relatives. Now if they had introduced Sara as a relative, it could have been interesting, but they didn't take the character anywhere.
Halloween Remake - 5/10 Everytime I rewatch this movie I find things I like and things I hate. I used to enjoy the prequel scenes, but the more I watch them, the more I hate them. They don't go anywhere. They are actually quite boring. The remake parts, which has started to grow on me, still are not that strong. There is almost no character development. Dialogue is terrible. Bringing in Laurie's parents added nothing to the story except adding a higher body count. Hell, bringing Brackett in was lame because it lead to nowhere. Anyone could have played that role. I believe that Rob tried to do too much with too little time.

Halloween:10/10 - although not the first slasher, still one of (if not) the best
Halloween 2:8/10 - a damn good sequel, like how it started where the first ended
Halloween 3: 4/10 - not terrible but not good either

Halloween 5: 7.5/10 - don't understand the hate, although the Tina character was irritating!
Halloween 6 (theatrical cut): 6.5/10 - enjoyed it but too many holes
Halloween 6 (producers cut): 7/10 - still alot of holes but superior to the T-cut
Halloween H20: 4/10 - liked it when it came out but repeat viewings make me realize how weak it is
Halloween Resurrection: 4/10 - interesting premise but Busta? ughhhhhhhh!!

In comparison with the others slasher films, and the other Halloween films (not compared to other films)
Halloween- 10/10
Halloween 2-8/10
Halloween 3: Season of the Witch- 7/10
Halloween 4: Return of Michael Myers- 9/10
Halloween 5: Revenge of Michael Myers-6/10
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers- Never seen it.
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Producer's Cut- 7.5/10
Halloween H20- 9/10
Halloween Resurrection- 4/10
Halloween (Rob Zombie Remake)- 5/10
Edit: If I was ranking Curse simply on atmosphere, direction and overall freakyness (especially of Myers mask), it would be a 9...but the plot just really brought it down some. I mean, kudos for trying to be original...but not for being dumb in the process (my opinion of course.)

Oh, wait . . . you're serious?
Neither remakes were particularly great, but at least Zombie tried to do something different with the remake, and not just rehash what had already been done before. Friday the 13th did NOTHING new (really) and was completely generic slasher fare that went out of vogue over a decade ago. At least the Halloween remake had some ambition and creativity. Even if it was a failed experiment, I'd rather see someone fail at something new than see the same damn thing again for the 128th time.

My point exactly. Rob Zombie had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation of what he was going to do next. Friday the 13th had less suspense than a Michael Bay movie. We all knew what to expect and thats exactly what he gave us, and in this case thats not a good thing. Marcus Nispel's F13 is the worst remake I've ever seen. But I haven't seen The Fog, The Hitcher or House of Wax so....

We all knew what to expect and thats exactly what he gave us, and in this case thats not a good thing. Marcus Nispel's F13 is the worst remake I've ever seen. But I haven't seen The Fog, The Hitcher or House of Wax so....
Edge of your seat? Really? The Halloween remake followed the original story, for the most part, while Friday the 13th was basically a brand new sequel, clearly not following the original, so I think you got it backwards on people knowing what to expect.
As for the fog and the hitcher remakes, they're pretty bad, but House of Wax was surprisingly good, if anything check that one out before the others mentioned...but you'd prolly disagree considering you like Zombie's Halloween and dislike Nispel's Friday the 13th....

What I think we both mean is that Friday the 13th (2009) completely followed the exact same formula as its predecessors, therefore there was nothing new and unexpected.
SPOILERS FOR ROB ZOMBIE'S HALLOWEEN AHEAD!!!
The first half of Zombie's Halloween was completely new territory for the series. The second half, yes, is a very similar remake, but even then, Zombie changes it up again once he captures Laurie. Unlike in Carpenter's version, here Michael did not want to kill Laurie. He shows her the picture because he wants them to be a family again, and, in Haddonfield, he was essentially killing all those individuals who he felt might keep her from him (such as her adopted parents and her friends). It is not until Laurie rejects him that Michael, hurt and enraged, decides to kill her too. What Zombie did (though, admittedly, not entirely successfully) was to create a completely different version of Michael Myers. I believe that is why so many Halloween fans have a problem with the remake (primarily). This is NOT the Michael they grew up with, and that's exactly my point. Even when Zombie is aping the original, at least it's a different version of Michael doing it. Jason in 2009? He's pretty much doing the same things he did before for pretty much the same reasons, so what was the point?
And to PSU80, the "HA HA" portion of my comment was completely uncalled for and I apologize.

Halloween: 10/10
I pretty much don't even need to give an explanation for the rating. Not like I need to justify it. Well worthy of the praise it gets and holds up insanely well after 30 years. A horror flick I can watch over and over.
Halloween II 6/10
It's an alright movie...interesting that they decided to have it continue the same night as the first film instead of the Halloween the following year or several years like the sequels tend to do. But for the most part it's just Michael offing hospital staff and we find out that the guy has an actual motive for trying to kill Laurie which maybe kills the mistique a bit. Still cool that they turned out to be siblings. And Donald Pleasance is awesome once again as Loomis.
Halloween III: Season of the Witch N/A
I still haven't seen this movie! Can't find it anywhere, either. Oh well. People who hate it just because it doesn't have Michael Myers aren't being completely fair but I can understand the frustration. But I've heard it's a fairly decent movie if you just try to forget it's not part of a series.
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers 6/10
Again, just an alright sequel. I hated the mask but obviously can look past it. I cannot understand why people love Danielle Harris' performance as Jamie, though. I thought she was annoying. Particularly her scream. Then again I haven't seen 4-6 in a while so maybe I might feel differently about that and the film in general pending a re-watch.
Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers 2/10
Hated it. Thought it was boring as fuck. Loomis is just a joke at this point. "Michael's back! beware! boogey boogey boogey ahhhhh" etc. etc. Really tired.
Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers 6/10
Say what you want but this is a good bad movie. Does anything here really make any sense at all? No, not really. Is it fun and oddly satisfying watching Michael kill his victims? Sure! Does it feature Tommy Doyle as a grown-up played by Paul Rudd? Woah, cool! Fun movie. I liked it.
Halloween H20: 20 Years Later 6/10
There's just something wrong about this movie that I can't quite put my finger on. It just feels so short and rushed and not the amazing reunion it could have been. But Jamie Lee Curtis makes everything forgivable. She's great and it really shows how she has grown as an actress over the years. The scene where she busts the security system, walks alone with the axe, and screams "MICHAEL!!!" while the Halloween theme plays= PURE AWESOME. The final scene is great as well. Too bad it was ruined by Resurrection, and for what? The series was abandoned after that anyway and they went ahead with the remake.
Halloween Resurrection 4/10
Not as huge of an abonimation as some people may claim but still not really that good. It was actually pretty decent for the middle part. But killing off Laurie was a bummer and the less said about Busta Rhymes' Kung-Fu the better.
Rob Zombie's Halloween 7/10
I despised it when I first saw it. I mean I fucking hated it. But I watched it again recently and changed my mind. It is kind of a mess. It has a lot of ideas but never really arrives anywhere with them, but maybe having all these ideas is better than having none at all. Better than any of the sequels to the original. If you hate this movie then there's probably no converting you but at the very least, if you've only seen it once, see it again. It's owed that much, I think.
