MAGNOLIA - the opening sequence showcasing three cases of coincidence and fate leading into the introduction of the entire cast.

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN - Cool animated opening sequence.

FEAR AND LOATHING - it's quick but the black and white footage fading into the trippy title with My Favorite Things playing followed by the slam wipe is just wicked.

LORD OF WAR - a wicked sequence showing the manufacturing of bullets

JFK - The masterful leadup to the assassination with archival footage mixed with footage shot for the movie. All with John Williams' stirring score backing it.

SE7EN - One of the best opening montages ever.

TRAINSPOTTING - Renton and his boys running with the brilliant monologue over top. Choose life.

DAZED AND CONFUSED - Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet emoooooooooooootion.

and to borrow a second time from the above list
DAWN OF THE DEAD - The opening credits are wicked with Johnny Cash playing over-top. But its a combination of this AND the opening scenes that does it for me. The opening of this film with Sarah Polley waking up to find the zombie girl in her room is one of the most well-directed sequences of that year.

Off the top of my head, those come to mind first.

Although I'm not a huge fan of the movies, but the james bond flicks always seem to have catchy opening credits.

Weapon X

12 Monkeys - The circle of monkeys and that creepy-ass theme music.

Alien - The title fading in piece by piece.

Armageddon - Heston voiceover + Earth goes boom. Fitting, no?

Casino Royale - And that's all I got to say about that.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - Best. Theme. Ever.

Grindhouse: Planet Terror - Best. Go-Go Dancer. Ever.

Highlander - Simple text-on-black-background, but the Queen music elevates it to something magical.

Superman (1978) - Sure the effects are dated, but dammit if the whole spectacle of it doesn't hold up over time.

Terminator 2 - The classic theme over the burning playground.

I like Gladiator's opening battle sequence.

Throw in Unforgiven with its great music, great cinematography, and scrolling words telling you about William Munny's wife. Love it.

And Goldfinger, since Casino Royale was already mentioned.
