soooooo a couple months back i read somewhere that there was a Dark City special edition being released, which i thought was money bc thats an amazing flick that was only available in the shitty warner bros keepcase. I traded in my copy of Dark City in anxious anticipation, but I've heard nothing since. Anyone know anything?

Haven't heard anything about the Director's Cut since the beginning of this year or whenever the last piece of news was regarding this. From what I remember it was meant to be released this year (I think that was the same piece that said Ebert had already recorded a commentary for it) which clearly isn't going to happen.... maybe next year..... Even just a little piece of news about it would keep me happy.

Who could have too much Dark City? That's like saying, "This one orgasm is fine, thanks."

Only problem with it being it doesn't have the Director's Cut.

Remember when the "Final Cut" of Blade Runner was naught but a rumor? Or the legendary workprint version of Alien3? How about the long-demanded but supposedly unattainable Richard Donner cut of Superman II? At some point, all of these were just whispers in fanboys' ears, and for better or worse we now have them.

I continue to hold out hope for a Dark City: Director's Cut DVD.

This is happening because Ebert recorded a brand new commentary for it.

I recently watched this for the first time last week (picked it up used for 5 bucks from FYE), and I was fucking BLOWN away. I'd LOVE for a special edition to be released.

It's either some Stephen Hawking shit or else he did it before he got sick again.

I remember reading that Ebert offered to do a second commentary after watching the Directors Cut, claiming it was much better than the original (which he also gave 4 stars to).

This gets me interested.
