Seeing as there's a growing number of parents on these boards, I thought I'd share an experience we've recently had. Picking the little one up from daycare, the First Lady noticed the strange music-box sounding lullabye playing over the PA and started humming to the melody, suddenly putting words with them... "I want to fuck you like an animal! I want to feel you from the inside..."

Could it be?

Rockabye Baby! was started in 2006 and aims to "transform you favorite rock music into baby music."

There are albums for The Ramones, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, U2, The Beatles, Tool, The Stones... you get it. If it rocks, you can use it to put the little ones to sleep.

And I'll admit, I've been finding myself listening a bit to the Nirvana version even when little man has long gone to sleep.

These are getting decent reviews over at Amazon. Nirvana has gotten the worst so far, with a majority describing it as "evil clown music", which to me was the selling point. Go figure...

So, if you have babies in the house, or are even interested in the um... genre (?) as a curio, I highly recommend these albums. Actually, if you do a lot of acid, I'd say these would also be up your alley.

Here's the official website, with samples and the sort. Enjoy and sweet dreams.

This looks like bags of fun...my little creature is due in February and I would much rather this than him bopping along to a giant purple dinosaur. The Radiohead ones are very nice indeed...High & Dry was made to be a lullaby anyhoos.

If you want your kid to fall asleep, just play some real Pink Floyd.

But this is an interesting concept. I'm not sure if their little minds will be twisted by hearing the words "I want to fuck you like an animal" every night, but I'd rather have my kid singing along to that than "Wake me up before you go-go."

I'm a big fan of theses weird electronica from the 60's aimed at kids nearly as much as i like mort garson's music for plants.

They're all just the melodies, no actual words. MY wife just happened to put those words together when she recognized the melody.

Roy - We listened to some of the soothing sounds for baby when I took intro to electronic music. It was from when electronic music sounded like THe New Medium of Electronic Music! Haha.

Does "Sweet Lullaby" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvnVdMpgQOk) counts?

I had my baby Noah a week ago so I might try picking up some of these CD's in the not-too-distant future. I especially liked the stuff bowieee posted and think this would be lovely and soothing at bedtimes.

I bought a lullaby animal light thingy and it's the most sinister thing you're ever likely to hear...all twinky twonky like a 70's slasher...*shudder*...
