I am really and i meen REALLY getting sick of hearing about this chick. I'm not saying anything about her music cause frankly i've never heard any of it but all this crap with he husband in jail and her not being able to cope is really uninteresting and the only reason any of us know anything of it is cause she has/had some hit song.
I meen i'm all for helpnig troubled ppl out but this is rediculous. I meen if she wanted help she would have gotten it herself by now right? is that to far of a stretch of logic? But she doesn't and instead is almost everyday in the news about her getting drunk and making a scene here or doing drugs and making a scene there or threatening to kill herself if she's away to long from her husband.
GROW THE FUCK UP!!!!!
maybe your dumb ass husband shouldn't have assulted some bartender and got him self arrested. Maybe you shouldn't have let him or whoever get you so deep into drugs and alcohol that you seem to need it to just go on living. Maybe you should realize that if this is your life situation because of this guy that perhaps its best your not together not matter how much you say/think you love him.
People make decisions and then have to live with them, its not a new concept and those who think differently are just those who haven't gotten with the program yet or atleast haven't had to.
Sry if i've offended any of her fans or other ppl on these boards but seriously she needs to either clean up or go live in a cave somewhere so we don't ahve to hear about if she's ever been serious about offing herself.

Whenever I see her name in a headline, I assume that she died, but it's always more melodramatic bullshit.

I always hope that's what it is, I'm always disappointed though.

Then why in god's name would you bother posting this in the music forum?
Seriously, I actually paused and thought - Oh wow. Winehouse being discussed in the music department. I'm pretty sick of hearing all this TMZ high school halls shit about who saw who put what up their nose where.
Then buhjeez - you blow that out of the water before your third sentence!

She won't die anytime soon. At least, I don't think so. People have been predicting Shane MacGowan's death for decades and he hasn't croaked yet.

I love winehouse and think her last album back to black is fantastic, as an englishman I find most of our musical exports embarrasing as alot of them are no talent three chord, can't sing bullshit, Amy on the other hand has a great voice and a great retro sound to her music, so what if she has sailor tatts, looks like a spider and puts all her white powder up her nose and not in a washing machine.

An Englishman complaining about the state of music, in a forum full of Americans, is like an American complaining to an Ethiopian about quality of life.

as a musician she is superb, great voice, great sound.
as a person i have no idea other than what i read in tabloids and frankly i dont care, what she does is up to her and hurts nobody else but herself so why should we worry,i refuse to dislike somebodys music because of the way they are portrayed in the papers and magazines,or the way they live their lives.
as i have said before you find me any good musician who has not dabbled in illigal substances and i will be suprised, elvis did, cash did, marley did, fuck me even take that did,so if you want yer musicians squeeky clean and wholesome cliff richard will be happy with your support.

I really, really love Winehouse (a whoooooole lot), so I'm willing to look past all her bullshit media antics. It seems to me, though, all these court problems and standing by her man fit a little too neatly into her doo-wop singer gone bad act.
Seems more than a little contrived to me.

Plenty of great musicians never did drugs. Dick Dale might be the best guitar player ever and he never touched the stuff. Neither did Frank Zappa.
This is the only defense I ever hear from Amy Winehouse fans: that she is somehow better than everyone else because she isn't clean and wholesome. There's a limit, dammit. People who inflict that kind of harm upon their own bodies don't need to be praised for anything except their music. Period. Pete Doherty doesn't deserve a merit badge for all that crack he does. As much as I love Shane MacGowan, I cringe whenever he gives one of his toothless smiles.
In other words, I don't think Amy Winehouse is more special than Norah Jones or KT Tunstall because she doesn't shower and they do.

its not a defence at all,but most people on here seam to be judging her strickly on her lifestyle and not her music, the girl is very talented regardless of her habits, and thats all i am defending.

I guess I misunderstood your post. Sometimes it seems like artists have to be grungy in order to be taken seriously, and that kinda bugs me, so whenever Amy Winehouse pops up in conversation it always seems to steer in that direction.

Nah, the British scene has been pretty dire for about ten years now. I blame Oasis. Actually, the scene everywhere is dire, the good shit has just scattered.
Winehouse's music is good fun, though, I could care less about the tabloid bullshit.

I've been to England. Trust me, it's not as bad there. Yeah, they have some lame bands, but from what I've seen they haven't accepted Nickelback or Kid Rock. Oasis haven't destroyed English music, and I don't understand why you'd think that. At least they play real fucking instruments, unlike a lot of American bands.

Because she has one of the best reviewed albums of the year. And it's actually good.
I have no idea why anyone who cares about music defames her based on her personal life.

I don't listen to radio and get the vast majority of my music either at local non-chain shops or online, so I can tolerate Nickelback a lot more than more Franz Ferdinand-type shit.
