Ok, so I've never seen Kingdom of Heaven, and I love Ridley's movies for the most part.

I remember when it came out, I thought it looked pretty bland and also hated the idea of Orlando Bloom having the starring role. The negative reviews didn't change my mind to go see it either.

But one of my buddies insists that the directors cut on DVD is absolutely amazing, and far superior to the theatrical cut, which I never saw. So my question is; is this movie worth a purchase? It has a pretty good cast and Ridley's director's cuts are gold for the most part, his "true" director's cuts anyway.

Is there anyone out there that have seen both cuts of the film and can make a recommendation before I dive into a four disc set? (Keep in mind it would be a blind buy)

Thanks in advance.

I haven't seen the theatrical, but I blind bought the Director's Cut and it was phenomenal. I'd definitely recommend it.

I was a pretty big fan of the theatrical cut, which I bought. I also bought the Director's Cut when it came out and thought it was even better.

This is actually one of my all-time favorite movies, so I'd definitely recommend it.

I'm also one who thought the theatrical cut was a perfectly fine movie. I was sceptical of Orlando Bloom as well but thought he did a perfectly good job. The Director's Cut ads a lot and is a pretty impressive piece of work. If you like those kind of historical epics you should give it a try because it's better than most.

I icontrolled the theatrical cut before I got the DC. It was ok. Good, but not great, just sort of ok. The DC, though,is quite honestly the best of the sword and shield epics. It is an amazing film. A great amount of depth and story was added. Wonderful, wonderful film and one of the better DCs put together.

I'm actually kind of surprised that people can love the DC and at the same time dislike, or even downright hate, the original theatrical cut. After all, most of the theatrical cut remains the same, and that's about 2 hours and 20 minutes of the DC with about 50 minutes added.

I loved the theatrical cut when I saw it in theatres, and I loved the DC a lot more when I got it on DVD (similar to how I was with Lord of the Rings and the Extended Editions).

I mainly hate the theatrical cut it just feels so mediocre and incomplete.
