Saw the trailer on Walk Hard tonight - thought it looked pretty damn intriguing(sp?). What are your thoughts?

its either gonna be mindblowing, and youre going to get thrown for a loop, or its going to be just direct shit. I have big faith in Hurt though, and if hes playing President, then of course im down. My only problem with the movie is ive been seeing trailers for it in theaters since about July. now thats annoying.

Great cast all around and the trailer is friggin' AWESOME!
I personally can't wait to see it. It's one of my most anticipated movies of 2008!

Really great cast and nice, Rashomon-style concept. But just look at when they're releasing the film, in the cinematic late-Winter graveyard. You'd think that if this film actually had any critical potential they'd release it around this time, December or whatever. So I don't know. Details are pretty vague as to the actual nature of the plot, and the trailer is more expert and portraying the gimmick of multiple character points of view and the all-star cast. I have a really strong feeling that the ultimate pay-off, the resolution of the film, the actual plot will be painfully ridiculous. We'll just have to wait and see, though. The cast truly is wonderful.

Good point, but you'll have to admit that this past fall's been particularly crowded, and I suppose Columbia thought VP would have a better shot in February that in a crowded prestige film season. The same was done this year with BREACH and ZODIAC--both of which were infinitely better than films released at that time of year had any right to be. Problem with those was that they weren't marketed well (if at all). According to BOM, the release date is Feb 22, and there doesn't look to be any competition that week so it could get to #1. Definitely agree about the cast, and while the director (Peter Travis) is directing his very first feature film, he's done some intriguing television movies and has apparently worked alongside Paul Greengrass (co-director) and Peter Morgan (writer).

Not only that, but it's the same freakin' trailer every time. Mix it up a bit, or stop showing it.
It's got a great cast and premise, but like everyone else, I'm a bit worried about the release date. But can a movie with Hurt, Whitaker, Weaver, and Quaid really go wrong?

Hmm, last night was the first time I've ever seen the trailer or heard of the movie, to be quite honest. So I for one, am not burned out on it. Maybe that's why I'm pretty stoked for it...that, and I'm a huge Lost fanboy, so Mfox being on the big screen is pretty exciting.

It could be good or bad. Most likely just "eh."

I saw this trailer months ago and was psyched for it but time passed and there was no news and the release date was moved, so I'm not gonna watch the trailer again and I'll just wait for it to come out.
So I personally see it going either way, it could be good or bad. I can't argue that it has a great cast but I see it having some sort of twist ending that nobody is supposed to see coming but most people probably will have geussed it already.
Oh and -heyen- Mfox came out on the big screen already with We Are Marshall.
And either way if the movie is bad or good it will always have this awesome poster. I'm not saying that will make up for it if it is bad but at least you can look back and say at least it had a good poster.

It looks very promising. I hope its not the case of the trailer being more kick ass than the actual film. But in all fairness, it looks really mind bottling.

looking forward to this one, even if it is released in february. first impression is that it won't be bad, so much as adequate. the actors look good enough to carry it, and the trailer (which is quite telling), looks pretty good.
