Ok, so I got 3 free months of Netflix and I've seen most of the horror movies out there. I'm looking for a really fun 80's slasher or something thats actually scary. I found Dead Silence to be one of the scariest/creepiest movies I've ever seen so I guess I'm looking for something creepy and atmospheric like that or a movie thats fun and clichéd. Here's a list of some of the movies I really like to give you a general idea:

A Nightmare on Elm Street
The Shining
Scream
May
High Tension
Dead Silence
Grindhouse
Evil Dead
Cabin Fever
Ginger Snaps
Candyman

I was thinking of getting:
Creepshow
Magic
Motel Hell
An American Werewolf in London
Twitch of the Death Nerve
The Hills Have Eyes (1977)(I haven'te seen it in awhile)

What do you guys think of those movies and do you have any other suggestions?

I'd say the list you got going there is pretty good. Definetly add Cemetery Man like terrible_toxie said. I would also add:

Phantasm
Dead Alive
Halloween
Deep Red
Suspiria
The Beyond
Zombie
Re-Animator
Scanners
Videodrome
Hellraiser
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Audition

And if you really dare to.... Cannibal Holocaust.

Yeah I own Halloween, Suspiria, Zombie, Videodrome, Hellraiser, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Cannibal Holocaust. I've also seen Re-Animator, Scanners, and Audition. I'll look into Deep Red and Cemetery Man because I've never heard of them, but I hate Lucio Fulci (except for Zombie) and Phantasm just looks stupid (I've seen that clip from Boogeymen).

if you havent seen The Descent yet, give that a shot, its an awesome modern horror that has that certain "atmosphere" you said you liked from Dead Silence.

Phantasm rocks.

The Descent is also one of the best modern horror films out there. I just saw the director's other film recently Dog Soldiers.

There is also a really great Korean horror film I really like called The Red Shoes.

Phantasm is great, its not a horror movie in the way your most familiar but more of a fantasy/adventure movie, very people under the stairs.
classic.

You ever see Angel Heart?

You gotta see Magic. It's one of my favorites of the genre. A young Anthony Hopkins gives a great performance.

May I say something about horror films...all are stupidly in the horror genre when they don't belong there expect for a few films thats deserve credit for really delivering that true haunting feel.
What i'm going to say now is true and nothing comes close to any horror movie...having a nightmare and not wanting to go back to sleep...you know what I mean...i'm sure you have experienced that, you wake up from your nightmare and cover all gaps into your bed using your duvet so you think nothing can get into your bed and you are hot and sweating, you try and stay awake and not fall back to sleep.
I don't think horror films come anywhere close to a nightmare but I have a couple of films that a guaranteed to make you think again.

The Blair Witch Project - Watch this alone in the dark and you will know what i'm talking about and make sure the room is pitch black...trust me if you have not seen this, it works best if you sit on a single chair in the middle of a room with nothing around you or so yo can only see your house walls.

The Descent - This is a very horrific film and its absolutely cruel the events that fold as the movie progresses, the true scale is there to be witnessed and the gut feeling is very unbearable once you know what the outcome will be. Watch this as described in the above film and make sure you watch it from start to finish without any pauses.

I think the films you have mentioned are all good...pretty much. Now some I like are (from that time frame)

The Fog
Terror Train
Prom Night (Have to see the classic Jamie Lee Curtis flicks)

Also some 70's fun ones:

The Omen
Carrie

More 80's Stephen King:
Christine
Cujo
and of course The Shining

If you have already seen those...sorry. And I agree that Phantasm is awesome.....have you seen Fright Night?

By the way...CUJO is one film I haven't really properly seen that i'd love to see, I only saw it once when I was like 8 or something and I don't recommend letting a kid watch it...its damn scary stuff, i've heard its not as scary for grown ups but still would love to see it.

I highly recommend Versus. Japanese zombie/yakuza flick. At least thats the best way I can think of to describe it. Lots of fun.
