He gives common advise to dumb people. He gives them the advice, lets a professional who specializes with the situation being addressed give some help, and then he gives them a trip to Disney World.

i had no problem with him, mainly cuz i never watch his show, or Oprah (who i LOATHE) and never thought twice about him.. he seemed like a douche.. but then i saw the clip where he had the creator of Bum Fights on his show.

So they show a montage of clips of the creator of Bum Fights, then they cut to the studio and the bum fights dude is sitting in a chair, mocking Phil (he isnt even a real Doctor from what i hear), he has shaved his head so that it matches Phils and wearing an identical suit, to this, i laughed hysterically! Then Phil before even doin an interview says he cant do it, and tell sthe creator of Bum Fights to leave his stage.

Now the reason that stood out to me was: You know DAMN WELL Phil knew who this dude was before he cam eon his show, you know he had seen those montages before they aired on his show, but Phil just wanted to show some "Moral High ground" by throwing him off the show, to show that Phil isnt even going to waste his time with the creator of Bum Fights.

Ever since i saw that, i have hated the dude, he seems like an attention grabbing pansy. And even though i dont agree with Bum Fights, what Phil did was just stupid and pathetic. (However the dude mocking the way Phil looked still cracks me up)

Phil knew that showing such violent and scandalous footage in his show would emotionally rile up his audience, it would gain his show more fame, more viewership, and more money.

There was no other reason for showing it: It had no educational purpose, he wasn't willing to analyze the Bumfight phenomenom, he wasn't even willing to discuss it.

He just wanted to use scandalous footage to get more viewers.

He was doing the EXACT same thing that the makers of Bumfights do: Showing physical abuse of poor people in order to get more money.

...And he even DARES to claim some moral higher ground after that.

His recent Britney adventure only re-inforces what I had thought about him. He exploits a mentally unstable girl to gain more fame and viewers for himself. If he genuinely wanted to help Britney, he wouldn't have fucking TV-cameras following, and he wouldn't fucking make public statements to press. He only made the situation worse thanks to his selfishness and greed.

Phil's producers edited the tape to make it appear as if Phil had PULLED THE PLUG, like it's a late-60s TV show and revoltionaries just knocked down the broadcast antenna. It's so showed, and probably like .01% of Phil's audience wouldn't be fooled by something like that.

I haven't voted but I might vote yay simply because his show is entertaining and despite some of the things he's done he seems to me in interviews and on his show to be kind of cool.

But that maybe because I haven't seen any of the things that a lot of people are mentioning although he was rather out of line with the whole Britney Spears thing I suppose. But other than that I haven't seen him do anything that makes me think he's a bad person.

The point is that Dr. Phil isn't such a loon. On today's show, a 700-pound man wrote into the show. His local doctors refused to give him gastric bypass surgery because he is too large. Dr. Phil gave him a personal nutiritionist, a personal trainer, a therapist, and the guidance he needs to change his lifestyle so that he can live to see 45. WHAT A DICK!
