Can't say I'm surprised, but fuuuuuuuuck what a damn shame, he was easily one of my favorite young actors, an underrated talent who could've gone on to do so much if it weren't for the constant bouts with drugs. Alas, another potential filled former child actor meets a tragic fate....:(

The mention of snoring makes me think the dude had sleep apnea. People who OD don't usually go and lay down then snore through the night.
Whatever the case - sad deal. I wish the best for his family and friends.

Wow. I am in absolute shock. Bully came today in the mail from Netflix, and I watched it when I got home. I just found out now that he died. How sad and ironic is that? Bully is one of my favorite 'controversial' movies... Brad Renfro was an excellent actor. R.I.P

im seriously crushed here, and i NEVER feel that way about celebrity deaths... but he was SO young, and sooo talented. Besides Bully, Apt Pupil, and the usual talked about films, Telling Lies in America is a highly underrated film of his, which he's great in.

A true talent who never quite took off like he should have. The last thing I saw him in was as the Stranger in "The Jacket." My sister used to have the biggest crush on this guy back in the mid-90s. He always struck me as ahead of his years. I guess that's true in more ways than one. Damn!

I don't know why everyone is jumping to this being drug related. Granted, there's no "dr" before my user name, but the possible medical explanation of all this makes a lot more sense that it being drug related.
Being so young, having sleep apnea could be related to past drug use and/or the effects of smoking on your throat ('specially if you've smoked crack/coke), but someone asked earlier, what anyone could have done --- I tell you one possibility:
"Yo, Brad, you snore so loud that everyone in the house is attuned to it. You might want to get that checked out because it could be a sign of a life threatening medical condition that causes you to die in your sleep."
OD cases don't go lay down and snore through the night.
Is this thing on? (taps monitor)
My take is Renfro probably dies drug-related like Hunter Thompson died from paying attention to politics while taking massive amounts of acid. I hope I'm not wrong - especially if, as noted, he had cleaned up previously.

Well, its well known that he is a herion addict. Wouldnt be shocked if herion did him in.
It could have been, but it would have been one of the most serene ODs in history. I'm just going by what his friends are saying about his snoring through the night -- that's not really what people do when they OD. Maybe immediately doze off then not wake up, but what is being described just doesn't sound like an OD --- You die near the time the heroin goes in your system, not after going to sleep and getting rest. If he was snoring, that meant his lungs were strong and creating enough wind to make the snoring loud enough to be heard --- When you do heroin, it slows your breathing down - something not associated with loud snoring.
Also, like I said before, the apnea could have been related to drug use, especially if he was chasing the dragon around a lot - weakened parts of his throat. As it reads though, it just doesn't sound directly related to drugs.
That being said, and this is probably key - it's very possible his company could be trying to protect themselves, and playing the ole' "Wha- I don't know he was doing fine!!!" card.

I think maybe his friends misinterpreted those sounds as snoring. I've see patients who've suffered strokes make these strange breathing sounds that sounds as if it were snoring if you weren't in the same room with them.

Here's Ian McKellen's words on Brad that he wrote in his tribute blog...classy man, seriously:
From IMDB.com:
"I first caught sight of Brad Renfro when he was kicking a football around with Bryan Singer on the half-built set of Apt Pupil in Hollywood. He was a kid having fun and that's how I shall always remember him. But he was more than that. He was a proper actor and when we worked together he was determined to be accepted as such. On set, he was blusteringly confident although it was obvious he would have benefited from training as an actor. Yet, as Todd, the disturbed teenager in Apt Pupil, he tapped into an inner demonic world and carried the film on his young shoulders. He longed to belong in the alien world which perhaps in the end overwhelmed him. He was only 25 and it is dreadful we shan't see all that he might have achieved."

Bubba, I know what you're saying here but it's not a stretch that people are blaming this on drugs.
Like it's been said, he's a drug addict and has had a bad history of using. It's not a stretch to get on the drug bandwagon. Hell, even you said that if he got something like sleep apnea it could probably be drug related.
Basically the point is we don't know anything at the moment. We're going by little information, but anyone who reads about this is going to immediately think that drugs are the cause.

That's scary. I'm pretty sure I suffer from sleep apnea but I'm not being treated for it at the moment because I do not have health insurance. I'm trying to take care of that but it's probably going to be a while before I get insurance and am able to have it checked out.
But I don't do any drugs. It's still scary though because I have heard that you CAN actually die of it.

From TMZ.com
http://www.tmz.com/2008/01/18/brad-renfro-the-last-tattoo/
Brad Renfro died this week at the age of 25. The L.A. County Coroner tells TMZ Brad had a freshly inked tattoo across his back, that read, "F*CK ALL Y'ALL (asterisk added). Possibly a clue to Brad's dark mood in the final days.
Renfro got the tattoo on Sunday. His body was found Tuesday.

I figured it would be a major drug overdose...although he was a major talent, Renfro was involved with drugs since his early teens. I just wish other partying young celebs would take his death, as well as Heath Ledger's passing, seriously and attempt to moderate or eliminate their addictions.
