LOS ANGELES, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Actor Kiefer Sutherland is slated to leave a California jail Monday after serving 48 days for a second drunken driving conviction and violating probation.

Sutherland, the 41-year-old star of the TV drama "24," will have served his entire sentence.

"He'll be let out the front door just like everyone else," Glendale City Jail Officer John Balian told People.com. "I have no idea who'll be picking him up."

Sutherland spent his birthday and the holidays at the Los Angeles-area facility, but kept largely to himself, having little contact with other inmates, the magazine said.

The actor reportedly also didn't include any family or friends on his guest request list, with his doctor and lawyer his only approved visitors.

"Throughout his stay, he never griped, never complained," Balian told People.com. "He never wanted preferential treatment from the get go, and we respect him for that."

Well thank goodness that's over. Good ol' rolling eyes smiley.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say 2008 will have

- a terrible season of 24 (if the strike is resolved) and
- a new video of a drunk Kiefer acting like an ass in public

Nothing can top the Christmas tree attack! He could still surprise us though. Hopefully not. It is quite sad.

Hope you are wrong. About the latter. I know you'll be wrong about the former. ;)

And if it continues we could get NO 24 at all, like...EVER AGAIN (A'la, Moonlighting). So I ask, which one is better?

BTW, like I said in another forum, the idea of dismantling C.T.U. and having Almeida come back as the main villain (supposedly) is the best idea the writers have had since the Season 5 premiere, and compared to Seasons 4 and 6, I really don't think it can get worse.

SHIVER ME TIMBERS...

THE BAUER RETURNS...WHEN THE STRIKE ENDS, OF COURSE.:D
