View Full Version : Celebrities & Their Tattoos: Yay or Nay?

Tattoos have become apart of society nowadays. Everybody has them, hell... I even have 2. But what do you consider appropriate, and who do you think went a little overboard?

I found a complete list of celebrity tattoos HERE (http://www.vanishingtattoo.com/celebrity_tattoos.htm). What is too much?...:

Megan Fox
http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn234/Badabing00/megan_fox_tattoos.jpg

http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn234/Badabing00/meganfox.jpg

Angelina Jolie
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Bikini_Babe06/angie.jpg

And we can't forget about the infamous Johnny Depp tattoo...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v67/Bikini_Babe06/depp.jpg

Sometimes it works on celebs, sometimes it doesn't. It really depends what kind of tattoo they get, and where they put it. I have the biggest issue with Megan Fox's tattoos. The words are garbage and it ruins the look of her body. "There once was a little girl who never knew love until a boy broke her HEART" and "We will all laugh at gilded butterflies".

What do you guys think? Sexy or not?

Tattoos are a great way of self expression, but it's when the celeb turns into a walking canvas is when it becomes pretty unfetching. If they truly believe in something, there is nothing wrong with other ways of expressing it, namely through verbal expression. That tattoo than Angelina has about knowing ones' rights, the same thing could be expressed if she spoke about it because it should be common knowledge.

Then again, if they ever tattoo stuff about racial supremacy or other such garbage like that (such as that 'true love' tat on Megan Fox) then you really can't take them seriously.

I think one of the reasons I like Emmy Rossum and Anne Hathaway oh so very much is because their skin is silky, butterlike smooth and clean.

Tatts just kinda throw me off...

Don't get me wrong I respect them as Art (unlike my father doctor and mom who see them as a sign of bad judgment and if I ever got one they'd disown me), but, they just throw me off.

I find some tatts incredibly cool, like Eric Sprague's :

http://www.am-jam.com/images/2007Tattoo/LizardMan/tattoo-expo-07-set-1-102.jpg

Website about him (http://www.thelizardman.com/).

*WARNING : The youtube video may make some of you sick.*

I'll betcha Eric is a really cool guy in person.

I used to hang around with the freaks and strange people in high school because I was sort of an outcast myself.. the lovable nerd everyone knew, but never wanted to hang out with, so they made me feel at home, and openly accepted me. With that, came tolerance, if you can even call it that, of a persons individual uniqueness. :)

BTW Linds, you're really on a roll today for great threads.

Good thread Lindsay! I have a tattoo myself (Old Eritrean flag:cool:). Gonna get more though.

I never found words to be good tattoo material. Unless it's one's name or a mantra. But a really long sentence makes no sense to me. I'm, as such, not a fan of Fox's tats.

Never thought much of tattoos and don't see myself ever getting one, if it's something unique or has a lot of detail then it can be interesting but rarely ever come across something original, it seems to always be the same sort of designs, some asian symbol they likely don't know what it means (wasn't there one actress that got one who thought it meant beautiful but it really meant whore?) and I can't remember seeing text used well for a tattoo, the ones of Fox and Jolie are just horrible.

I've never understood the whole tattooing an image of a celebrity on your body though, or a boyfriend/girlfriends name or whatever, that just seems completely bizarre to me. Solid blocks of black such as that cross one on Jolie also look bad.

It really depends what kind of tattoo they get, and where they put it.
That's exactly what it comes down to for whether I think a tattoo looks good or not or is even sexy.

Not really. I wouldn't want to upset or offend a tremendous beauty such as yourself, so I'll leave it at that...;)

I like tattoos but celebrities seem to be a group that lack any creativity or sense when it comes to this subject.
I prefer a woman's tattoo to be dainty and hidden when wearing normal clothes (i.e. no arms or necks). It should also have at least some kind of meaning.

Megan's seem a little like something the cutest girl in an asylum would sport.

Also Asia Argento has some sexy tats too.

But no has better tats than my man Steve-O.

I really like Angelina's tattoos.

Megan Fox's tattoos are the only blemish on her. It's a small blemish, but they are pretty lame overall.

Tattoos are fine by me, but not for me. I know a few tattoo artists and on several occasions have almost had them talk me into getting the tattoo I want, but I just wasn't drunk enough to take the plunge.

Sometimes, though, I think they may be setting themselves up to look like fools later in life. As in getting a lover tattooed, but also sometimes I see lower back tattoos on fit young ladies, and start imagining that it'll eventually turn into an upper butt tattoo.

Either way though, lameness is lameness, and as Frank said, some tattoos are pretty lame. It's a matter of taste, I know, and I take solace in not having to live with some middle school-level poetic verse plastered on my skin.

I'm tattooed, and I love them all (six currently, more to come). However. Mine all have meaning, and if I'm wearing jeans and a tshirt, you'd never know I had any. (This isn't to say I think they should all be covered up - I'm just comfortable knowing that IF I want them covered, it's not an enormous effort.)

When it comes to celebs and their ink...well, to each their own. I'm not a fan of Megan Fox's ink, but I think that's more because it seems to me that they're more "for show" than they are for her. JMO, obviously. I like Angelina's - I think they have meaning for her.

What drives me crazy about celeb tattoos more than anything? They're using them as they would a tiny new dog or a new purse. They're just accessories.

(And I doubt anyone would complain if this was Megan Fox)

No, but really... a good tattoo is a rare thing, in my opinion. There are a lot of people who can't choose good tats.

Tattoos are a massive turnoff for me, and I would never ever get one. However, if someone has one and they keep them covered up, I don't really have that big of a problem with it. But when people are too open or visual with their tattoos, it really churns my stomach.

Ive never found a tatoo to be attractive on a woman. Normally I dont think it makes them ugly either, but on that LA Ink girl its a total turnoff event though shes pretty sexy otherwise.

Yay for tattoos.
My only problem with actors/actresses having them is when it becomes a part of every character they play.
My personal rule is, if you can't see it with a t-shirt and shorts on, it's fair game. I have two tattoos but I'm also fairly young (20) so I take it easy; I don't want them to affect a future job or the opinion of people I care about.
Sometimes I feel bad when I see people's virgin skin and think, damn look at their fresh, unpolluted bodies... then I think, but my tattoos are great-I love 'em.
My only pet-peeve when it comes to tattoos are the people who don't have them and they shit out their mouth with "Oh, they'll so regret that when their old! Hmph!"
And my answer to that is, no, not really. They'll end up living with it for years, accepting it, forgetting about it, and by the time they're "old" they won't give a fuck. I've had my tattoos for 2 years now and I don't even think about them. When someone points them out I'm like "Oh, yeah!".

I don't like them on a girl, they mostly look cheap and tacky. I still think Megan Fox is one of the most sexiest women, beautiful face, especially the eyes, and her manner is very erotic and sensual, she's the best.

Her tattoo's are cool. I'm hardly the most squeamish person in the world but that guaged ear shit makes me feel slightly nauseous and weird and I just picture the ears without it...all floppy like a spaniels with big ugly holes in them. I think it's a body modification that most people will end up regretting.
